Marie's Journal

Well here I am, I'm finally starting my journal but I'm not sure what I should say. I'm a wife to a wonderful husband and two beautiful children. I want to lose about 30 pounds and gain a healthier me. I also want to be a good example to my family. My weaknesses...snacking and portion control. Someday I will overcome both...hopefully sooner than later. Lucky for me, I'm the cook of the house so the fam has to eat what I make them...oh what a terrible shame, He, He.

Today wasn't too bad, but it wasn't too good either. Weekends are always harder for me since we usually eat out after church. Once I get in the groove things should be easier, or so I tell myself. ;)

Hi Marie! Welcome to your diary! Snacking was the worst for me. If this is really the real deal, you will be able to manage that. Take it one day at a time.

Good morning everyone. Today is the start of a new day...one that I hope will bring me one step closer to realizing my goals. I currently weigh 159 and my goal weight is about 130 (wouldn't mind if I lost more). I will check in later to chart my progress.

Breakfast:
GoLean Kashi Hot Breakfast cereal with skim milk and coffee: 330 calories

Lunch?

Dinner?

Water and Decaf tea: 0 calories

Hey Marie! Hope this week is a great week for you- I hear you on the weekends being a bad time  all ya can do is try your hardest, vent to everyone on here, and keep moving.
Have a good one :D

Thanks for the support everyone. So far today is good. It seems by writting down my meals before I even start the day makes me more accountable. Might try to do this more often until my snacking (especially late at night) is under control. Here is my plan for the rest of my meals today.

snack- Lowfat cottage cheese- 160 calories
lunch- whole wheat pita pizza with canadian bacon- 350 calories
juice- no sugar added cranberry - 140 calories
dinner- meatloaf made with 93/7 hamburger with egg whites and oatmeal
served with carrots and corn. 450 calories

Hi Marie,
Welcome to the WLF,

I have found that I do much better if I have a plan in place for the day :)
Also, if my calories are too low, then I end up snacking more - so I space out my meals so that I know I'm going to get food every 3 hours or so.

Best of luck to you :)

All I can think about is that chocolate candy coating that is in my pantry. I want it so bad, but I keep telling myself NO! Perhaps I'll drink so more water and then get on the treadmill. I'll let you know what happens.

Hey everyone, I'm just checking in- I didn't eat the candy and even better...I lost my first pound. YAHOO! Skinny me here I come!

PS
Has anyone else had trouble posting? I sometimes get an error message telling me to log in, even though I already have.

Good job resisting the temptation--it might be easier if you put it somewhere you can't get to it, or even throw it out until later on down the road when your healthy eating will have given you stronger self control. It seems to get easier as you go, I have a couple bags of cherry cordial chocolate kisses still in my closet, and a couple weeks ago I wanted them so much constantly, now I'm just looking forward to the tasty meals I'm planning to have today. I know I'll probably want them again eventually, but I hope when I do I'll be able to have just a few.

Good luck and keep at it, it'll get easier!

I just turned snacking into the 6 smaller meals im supposed to have instead of the 3, though im now on about 4 meals a day with 2 snacks more than anything (7am 11am 3pm 6pm plus supper + a fruit somewhere)

Hello out there to all who is reading. Today was pretty good until this evening. Dinner was fine but I got weak and had a sweet snack. I'm already wishing that I hadn't, but I will pick myself up and start again tomorrow. Hopefully, I'll remember this feeling of regret next time. Tomorrow I hope to start my excercise routine. Its been hard getting back into it since my daughter was born- it seems there is always something that needs to be done first. Good night to all.

It might help if you get some healthier sweet snacks to keep around. When I need something sweet now, I can have a 100 calorie Oreo or Chips Ahoy bar, a Special K snack bar, a bowl of sugar free Jell-o and whipped cream (1 cup of the sugar free Jell-o and 4 tablespoons of whipped cream altogether is only 50 calories), a blueberry smoothie, some pears...
Sweet cravings are hard to get through, but keep eating healthy and keep some good alternatives to candy around and it'll be a lot easier.

Thanks everyone for all the great ideas. Today went good. I even got back on the treadmill for 30min- don't want the thing to get too dusty. :) I had the following for my meals.

breakfast 490 cal (this includes having coffee)
Lunch 400 cal
Dinner 570 cal
water 70oz
Mt Dew 50 cal
(this was a weak moment, but at least I didn't drink the whole thing)
Total 1510 cal

Hi all- I had a HUGE breakfast/brunch/lunch or whatever you want to call it, but it was good. lol. It was about a 1100 calories. However, afterwards we went to the train show and I did a lot of walking. Plus, I had a lite dinner (whole wheat pita pizza- 400cal). I also burned 200 cal on the treadmill. Not bad. I've hit my 2lb loss mark...hope for more tomorrow. Have a great day to all. :)

Howdy all. Today was ok. I didn't get to eat breakfast- had to run out of the house too fast. Had a decent lunch including steak, baked potato, corn, baked beans, cottage cheese and a slice of whole wheat bread. Sounds worse than it is...I didn't eat very much of the steak- about 5 or six bites and I didn't eat all of my potato. At least it wasn't as many calories as that whopping breakfast I had yesterday, lol. I was bad this afternoon though, having some no-bake cookies...boy were they good :). Didn't over do it though. I've been good this evening and will start strong tomorrow morning. This week my small goal is to hit 5 pounds- something to shoot for. I'll check in tomorrow.

Hello again. I haven't posted in my diary in a couple of days, but things have been going well...just busy. I've now lost 3 pounds so far (YAHOO!). Anyway, today I had the following:

Breakfast 500 calories
Lunch 450 calories
Dinner 475 calories
Total 1425

Not too shabby for a days work...hope to report more good news tomorrow. One thing I have been doing, which I'm sure some of you already do is not eating after dinner which for me is usually between 6:30 and 8:00. Consuming more calories earlier in the day instead of saving them all for dinner, helps me not get so hungry during the late evening.
