Maddy's Diary

Hi mad2lose, looks like you are going well, great stuff!

You have a similar amount of weight to lose as me, I have to shed 72lbs, hopefully by next autumn. Have you ever felt 70lbs? I loaded up 72lbs on my barbell and lifted it. All I can say is no wonder I have backache. It's terrible putting all that strain on one's poor back and joints.

Anyway, keep it up! You inspire others to keep going too.

D

Hey Dave, had a look at your Diary, your doing great. Your seriously tall compared to me. My BMI is 34. I'm only 5ft 2", but yep we have the same amount to lose alright. I'll keep an eye on your diary to see how your doing. Sure I suppose we can have a bit of a laff on our weight loss journey if nothing else hee hee. Have a great weekend, and be good :seeya: btw can you let me know how you got your ticker to work, cos I have tried 3 times, and it just doesn't work for me. I must be doing something wrong?? Maddie

Breakfast : Granola Bar & Banana

Lunch : Salad & roll

Dinner :- PIZZA NITE as always Friday night !! Will have half and its 650 cals, but mmmm I love my pizza

Exercise :- Went for my walk this morning before work. 4 miles this morning. When I lose a few more pounds I'm gonna do what Xorie does and walk / run walk run until I feel like I'm gonna die ha ha. At the moment, I just can't cos I'm too heavy but that will be one of my goals. Also, have to be careful not to overdo it with my asthma, but if I don't try, I'll never know hee hee.

Get weighed on the 16th September next, so if I lose a few pounds by then, maybe I will have a go at the running etc. We'll see.

Thanks for the tip Xorie.

Riding was fantastic last night. Had a completely clear round and I must say myself and Jake were like in great form and we decided we would do it all again, as ya do. Just as we were heading over the first spread, there was an almighty rucus, we had bats in the arena, and we musta woken them up. My god they went beserk. So did all the horses, it was hilarious, but we got settled eventually and yep, we had another clear round, which was FANTASTIC!!!

ITS FRIDAY YEEEEHAR - NO WORK FOR TWO WHOLE DAYS !! and collecting my car tonight. happy happy

Thanks Maddie. :) For the running, I just kind of run until I think I'm going to die, then run a wee bit more, then walk until my heart rate slows. Then I pick it back up again. My mini goal is to do the whole loop without stopping. its about 3 miles so when I can run three miles without stopping, I'm going to party. :) lol . My big goal is to enter a 10k race and not finish last. :D

We have a mini trampoline thingy, but I honestly cant stand it :) I'd rather just be on an eliptical, but I cant afford one yet. :) So I'll be running outside until I can either save up enough, or convince my parents to go halfers with me. and YAY for getting a car. I was super lucky and got one when I graduated. Just a basic sedan that worked to get me around to work and stuff, but it was great not having to rely on the car being free for me to use. lol

And with bareback riding, I only ever do it at a walk or a slow western jog. And if I'm jogging at all, I use my bareback pad. Lily has really high withers, and it HURTS when she gets bouncy. :)

Have fun riding, and I hope your weather improves! Its crappy here, but I've got a covered arena for riding in, THANK GOD. lol.

Xorie thanks for the tips on the running. Am definetly gonna have a go at that, it sounds great. I don't know what the eliptical is?? I love my rebounder, just in the winter though, cos I live in the country and there are no street lights or footpaths and I just can't go walking in the evenings. :cuss:

Did you go riding last night? You said if ya got your saddle back you would go?? How did ya get on if ya did.

Hope you have a great weekend. Great not having to work for 2 whole days. I'm a happy little bunny today. Can't wait to collect my car. No more relying on hubby to be home so that I can use the jeep. happy days. Talk to ya soon Xorie :seeya: Maddie

Saddle wasnt back, so I didnt ride, but a friend of mine did, and then Lily was giving her major problems (wouldnt listen, kept wanting to run) So I hopped up on the tiny saddle and worked her butt off til she behaved lol. As for an eliptical, I cant really explain it, so I'll link to a picture of one... :) its like a low impact running machine thingy.

Have fun with your new car!

Ah poor Lilly hee hee, she probably thought she could get away with it with your friend, but she's probably so used to you not putting up with any nonsense from her. I know if anyone rides Jake he always kinda pulls a show offy kinda stunt, like he's the boss and not the rider, except when I'm riding him, its funny really, how they can be so naughty when they want to be.

I had a look at the picture, yep, we call that a stepper, great exercise I'd say. I don't have one though so I'll just keep on the rebounder. :willy_nilly:

Had a great weekend Xorie, but I must say I'm kinda freaking out now because my weigh in day is so close. I went for a 3 mile walk yesterday morning and then I did half hour rebounding. In the afternoon myself and the hubby went for a 40K cycle which was fantastic, but I just don't know what to expect with the weight this week. I suppose I'll just have to wait and see. I didn't overeat anyway, so I suppose thats the main thing. I'd just love to be down around 5lb, but I don't think thats gonna happen this time.

Anyway, hope you have a great Monday. Talk soon :waving:

Hi Maddy :) It's so much fun reading your diary. I'm starting to wonder if I should take up riding myself. :) Always loved horses but never had the nerve to try riding one haha. (Keep thinking of Christopher Reeves.. ugh...*shudder*). Good luck for your weigh in on Thursday. I'm sure you'll be very pleased with the result! :)

Hello! sorry I haven't dropped by in a while, I've been really busy for the past week carting around wheelbarrows full of bricks and rubble (our house is only half built) I havent updated my diary or even read anyone elses, I was starting to feel a bit less motivated so I had to get back on here pronto!
I like pizza too, but haven't had any in freaking ages, yesterday I was having a mega pizza craving so I made a mini one with pitta bread, half fat mozzarella and tomato puree! tasted almost as good as the real thing, and only 250 calories!
I also lost about 4 lbs this week! I hadn't weighed myself in a week and it took me by surprise, lolz.
are you going to start running? you have to let me know how you get on, I SUCK at running, even back in school when I was a normal weight and didn't smoke I could only manage about 100 metres, but I really want to change that. I should be getting a treadmill next weekend so I can stay out of the rain, and I might try that couch to 5k thing that I've seen mentioned on this forum a few times, we shall see if it works.
anyways, bye for now, give your horsey a polo from me :D

Hey Petra thanks for stopping by. Thats a brilliant idea about the pizza. I only ever have it on a Friday night. Myself and my hubby share it and give it 700 cals, but mostly I allow for it in my daily calories. I don't mind kinda bumming it on a Friday night, ya have to have a treat now and then :willy_nilly:

Yeah, I'm trying the running. I'm not great at it at all yet, but I'm walking about a mile, and then I try to run a mile. It nearly kills me and I have started having to bring my inhaler with me just in case hee hee. I hope I get used to it eventually.

Yep, I gave him nearly a full packet last night, cos he was soooo good, apart from refusing two jumps, the scut, was probably my own fault though. I think I was going a tad fast into the jump and he absolutely hates spreads and nearly always refuses them. Anyway, the second round was great, no problems at all, we had a completely clear round, which was fantastic, so I guess he deserved his mints. When I get off him, he headbuts me and then nuzzles in to the pockets, cos he knows where I keep them. He is just nutters. Well done you on losing the 4lbs, thats really fantastic. Congratulations.

I'm getting weighed in tomorrow, but I have to be honest, even though I have been very good, and getting lots of exercise, I really don't think I have lost much at all. I was really hoping to lose 5lbs so that I would hit my 21lbs, but I really don't think I did. I'll be so disapointed after all the effort, but the only thing is, I suppose it wil come off eventually, so I just have to be patient. I suppose there is no quick fix and its not good to lose it too quickly mmm have to wait and see :toetap05: I'll let ya know tomorrow how I get on. If I don't post, you know its bad news :blush5:

Have a great day Petra ;)

OMG don't even talk about Christopher Reeves. Every time I fall off (and that is quite a lot) I just listen out for any cracks hee hee When all is quiet, I know I might be sore, but I'm gonna be okay :ack2: I have broken two ribs, my collar bone, and three fingers in the past ten years, but I still wouldn't ever give it up. Pure crackers I know, but no point giving up something ya love. :hurray:

You should give it a go, if your only learning, you don't jump or canter or anything at all until you are a little more experienced. Its a really fun thing to do and good exercise hee hee.

How are you getting on with your weight loss. I will try to get in to your diary sometime later today. I can only check this in work, cos I don't have a computer at home, and I have to be careful, not to get caught hee hee. Thats why I kinda flit in and out very quickly, and don't really have time to browse, which I woudl love to do. Anyway, hope you have a great day, and thanks for stopping by. Talk soon :waving:

I agree with Maddy. Its something that is a wonderful experience that I would never give up. However, unlike Maddy, you'll never find me going over spreads, or doing jumps. I like my stocky little quarter horses and fjords. Nice, slow (the fjords) and wonderfully calm animals.

And maddy, you're doing awesome! Dont worry so much about the scale, the numbers will come down, just remember that you are doing this for you, and your health. I mean, you're running now! Who cares if the scale gets a little stubborn. :)

Keep up the amazing work. You're an inpsiration to me to want to keep going and when I read your diary today, I knew I had to shake off my crappy days and get going again. Thanks for being such a great motivator! Good luck with the weigh in!

Thanks a million Xorie, you have no idea how much I needed your vote a confidence. I know your right about the scales and I seriously have got to try to stop worrying about losing the weight, and enjoy the toning up etc. Now to say I'm running is a bit of an exageration hee hee :willy_nilly: but I am trying. Its really funny though. I have to do it on the back roads where nobody can see me, but I'm gonna keep going. This morning was the first morning someone actually said to me, God Maddy you've lost alot of weight, what are ya doing?? It was a great feeling, definetly. I'm heading out to the Doc now to get my weigh in and I will post later, but I am seriously not gonna panic about it, cos I know I'm losing the inches, like you say Xorie I'm not gonna worry about what the scales say :hurray:

I hear ya about the spreads also and the jumping etc. I have to say, thats my favourite part of horse riding, I just love it, I think its the fear that I'm addicted to hee hee. I'd love to see a pic of your horse. I'd say he is a little beauty. Anyway, I'll post later aggggg here we go !!! :waving:

UPDATE

Went to the Doc this morning for my weigh in. I am down another 5lbs, which I am delighted with. Was a little anxious about it, but in future I'm not gonna worry about what the scales says, once I know I'm eating properly and exercising, the weight has got to come off at some stage. Anyway, not getting weighed again until the 15th October next (4 weeks away). Hopefully I will stay on the straight and narrow ha ha

Total weight loss to date : 22lbs in 8 weeks

Wow 5lbs, that's great. It's best not to get weighed too often as it can be really de-motivating.
Congrats.
