Lukewarm's Weight Loss Diary

I agree with Mal. You're so much better than you think! And beautiful too!

Cooking for yourself is a way of pampering yourself. It's soothing, and the tasks just sort of take you out of yourself as you're more focused on producing something delicious and edible - it's probably the creative artist in you as well that's brought to life during the cooking process. I love cooking, for myself just as much as other people.

Well done on making it to your spinning class (which reminds me - I forgot to update my diary!! Shock and horror) Isn't it great when exercise becomes so embedded into your life that it's just like another thing.. Anyhoo, back to work now :)

Blancita I love my baby pics, I was unique looking. I had a little gorilla in me, with close set eyes and a big forehead, I was strange. Thank you though.

Mal Thank you so much…that’s the nicest thing you could say and I appreciate it more than you would know. I realized this morning that having my little picture smile back at me all day is unsettling, I can't explain why exactly?

Rho Thanks, gosh I think it really is an art! I’ve always enjoyed bartending because I enjoy making specialty drinks and concocting something special, and I felt the same sort of pleasure when I saw my garlic lime chicken pop out of the oven.

Whoa I woke up ravenous today. I hope everyone has a really lovely day and does well with their eating/exercise plan. I have to lift and I have to make sure I’m productive today. I’m going to try to talk my sister into playing tennis tonight.

Thanks for posting that article! That is pretty much the main focus of my weight loss these days, trying to understand why I over eat, and why, when I get near my goal-weight I have. in the past. abandoned the healthy lifestye and gained all of the weight back.

So much of the discussion in the past 40 years has centered around howto lose weight, the mechanics, the tricks, the gimmicks, but until recently NOBODY talked about why we got fat in the first place.

To be honest after 30 years of yo -yo dieting I completely gave up. I just resolved myself to always being fat and probably an early death. I'm not sure what it was exactly that shook me out of that dark place a week or so ago, but in the last few days I've become hopeful again. Certainly this place has helped a great deal.

The article really struck a chord, as did much of the discussion, particularly in the fear of getting thin post.

Thanks again!

David C

Oh, excellent job on your chicken meal...I love everything RhoRho said about cooking being a way of pampering yourself and bringing out the creative artist in you - it is like an art form isn't it?

And I hear you on the need to be "consistently good"...yea it's a pain but in the long run it pays off...as the habits you are trying to acquire morph into stuff that you just naturally do.

Sorry about the cramps, but good for you on spinning through them - you're a better woman than I am in this respect...I just curl up on the couch for 24 hours with a big 'ol bowl of fruit, a hot water bottle and demand to be pampered:).

Oh no! She changed her avatar! I guess she's not yet used to believing how pretty she really is!

Ah well, one day at a time, eh... :)

Xorie Hello miss ;)

David You're very welcome! Sometimes the right article or the right words come along at the right time. I'm happy you liked it! I agree that it's a relief certain issues are discussed here that normally never come up in normal conversation. I love the forum, it's great you're here.

Cym Oh I very nearly did just that. I went spinning, but I'm eating about 80 lbs. of berries. I've found that if I NEED something to mindlessly snack on...I will do it with grapes or fruit, and as long as I weigh them and I know how many calories I'm ingesting...it's cool. Berries/cherries/fruit go much farther than popcorn (the bad kind) or chips.

Rho This flattery is almost obscene! But thanks it's nice :)

Oh darn, I'm missing the avatar already. I go away for an afternoon and come back and some stinkin' old man again as the avatar.

Ah well, to each her own :).

I turned 22 today, are you ready for my plans? Hope so…it’s pretty outrageous!

Sam Thank you!

Cinder Thanks! Oh geez...aren't ya 29? Not that long ago at all!

So...laundry DONE spinning DONE! I know that tonight that Chels, Mom and I are going to share a chocolate dessert because that's just what we do...and we'll probably go to the Fish House, it's this gorgeous restaurant on the harbor. My mom promised to go to a spin class with me on Monday, and it's supposed to be a weights day but I don't think that one extra class is a big deal. I'm not eating much this afternoon so that I can enjoy dinner tonight ;) alright I have to go and pack up some stuff so that Chels and I can laze around the pool. Have a nice day everyone! Also I lost another pound, I'm down to 160. grrr 150's are so close.

Yeay!!!!! And you know what, I predict that the day is going to come when you are at your goal weight and some cute chica is going to be on this forum going "but if I take a rest day, and a refeed day, and replace some of my cardio with weights....I'll stop losing weight"....and you will be going, "let me share my experience with you....":)
