Lukewarm's Weight Loss Diary

Rho I am not sure, but I think that it's supposed to be under 15 grams?

Vanessa I wish I was going sooner! I'm going to Sedona in December ;) You are doing a great job, I know that your hard work is going to make it possible for you to trek up and down the canyon with your family, no problem!

I did my lifting tonight, it was pretty hard for me though. I felt a little sick after, I'm sure it had nothing to do with the lifting but I used to get these moments where I had to lie down and just breathe deeply for a while. Sort of like hyperventilating a little bit, I almost pulled over on my way home. Once I came inside I laid down, I felt a little better after my protein shake. I'm just happy it passed rather quickly. At least it happens less lately.

well done with your lifting, it won't be long before you see and feel the difference the lifting makes :)

Hmmmm, I wonder what caused your little spell. Had you eaten enough before you went to the gym? Does it happen just from lifting or from other activities also? Maybe someone knows what this is ..

Good morning Sara! Good job on your lifting! :) Probably not a bad idea to talk to your doctor about your "spell" and make sure it is nothing serious. Hope your day is a great one!

Beth

Hey Sara! Kayaking is going to be a blast for you...tried it once in one of those little one man things..ended up going round and round in little cirlces...while my friends shouted not so helpful suggestions...but it was fun!

Weird about your little 'spell' post lifting...I was looking at your food and wonder if maybe you want to ask Leigh about incorporating pre/post work-out meals for your lifting days?

Trusylver Well you are a powerlifting mama, so if anyone knows what they’re talking about, it’s you! Thanks again, also I’m totally feeling a ‘difference’ today. My arms feel like *ouch*

Blancita Oops, I made it sound worse than it is, I have a feeling you’re right about not eating enough prior to working out. You know how you can tell when something is off, but it’s no big deal? I do believe that’s what it is.
Bethann Thanks! You’re right, I do have to make a doctor’s appointment soon, it’s been a while since I’ve had a physical. I hope you had a lovely 4th! Thanks for the encouragement!

Cym That’s what I looked like the first time I kayaked too! Do you have a pre/post workout meal? I’ll have a wholegrain English muffin/nat pb before spinning tonight.

I weigh 162 this morning! I’m so happy. It’s like I know that I’m going to lose more weight but my head hasn’t caught up with 163 yet because it’s been over a year since I weighed 163. Now I’m 162, which is really close to the 150’s, which makes me indescribably happy. When I first started posting on WLF my goal was 145 lbs. by my friend’s wedding on Aug. 11th. (My friend just texted me a picture of my bf trying on her wedding dress for the first time...OMG STUNNING!) So I missed that goal, but my new goal is 155 lbs. Ideally I would prefer to be 150 lbs. But I must be patient, and also I’m not forgetting that it is entirely possible that I won’t lose anymore this month. Leigh said that it’s up in the air as far as my results for the month of July, that it is possible I may gain, lose, or stay the same. I’m trying to keep an open mind. My body aches all over today though. I know I’m a weakling beginner, but step-ups are really damn hard for me to do! So are planks, which look like no big deal!

MMMM Oatmeal, you know I love that! I had some Honey Nut Cheerios today for breakfast, I'm seriously thinking about heating up some oatmeal right now for lunch. LOL LOL Hope you got that picture handy, I'll be posting mine real soon. And I have no doubt you will get to 150 in no time! Your so determined! And your working out so hard. GREAT JOB GIRLFRIEND!
Kim

So happy for you Sara! Seems like lots of us are getting off of our plateaus.

Planks are damn hard! I need to try step ups when I get back to the gym in August.

Onward to 161!

162!! Luke, that is so awesome. I read what you wrote on Cym's thread about your body being an ally with you for success, instead of a cause for depression and that was so cool. I love that. Your energy is so positive it's fanning out to everyone around here. Go LUKE-ster!!

Kim lol I do have it ready! I'm certainly waiting until you post yours! haha I'm trying to wait as long as possible, so no hurry, k? Aww thanks I HOPE so! I actually really enjoyed my oatmeal this morning, it was yum!

Blancita 161 is right baby! I'm so anxious now! Planks are DAMN HARD! Thanks for helping me to not feel so weak :rotflmao: My ass was killing me today. Hopefully it'll just go away hahaha.

Anna Thank you! The forum does have this definite positive vibe lately, lol I don't think it has anything to do directly with me ;) thanks for saying that though haha! I'm so happy you're practicing the Ashtanga yoga, I loved the article you posted. I hope you had a lovely day :)

So I've nowhere near met my calorie quote for today yet, I'm about to go scarf some food. I spinned tonight (spun?) but for some reason I just didn't feel like I gave 100%, so I scooped up my sister and we ran some vicious torture drills and played hard at the courts. Tennis makes me feel so good! It had rained earlier in the evening, so we also had to squeegee off the courts which was a workout in itself. I found myself running around without getting out of breath, just one of those realizations where you have some proof that you're becoming fit. We played for a couple hours, got all gross and now I'm home and ready to eat. I'm hungry like a monster. The past couple of weeks my mom and I hadn't been speaking, but tonight we talked for a long time and we're all good again. When I get along with my mom, everything is right in the world. K, have a nice night everyone!

Edit: I went over by 150 calories. I thought I had so many left, and by the time I entered it all in FitDay...over!

Uh oh (said in high pitched Tele Tubby voice like I do to my daughter)!

What does Leigh say about when you go over in calories? Do you make it up the next day by burning more or eating less, or are you supposed to just move on and pick up on your plan the next day? I went under by 800 cals the day before yesterday and over yesterday by 450 cals. SO DO PLEASE ADVISE! :)

Sounds like Leigh put you on the right workout/eating plan. What does Leigh have to say about going slightly over?

PS: Good on you for being on good terms with your mom. And you were fantastic with the tennis - keep it up! :)

Hey Lukewarm, havent stopped by in awhile. Please forgive, :) I estimate my cals in my head a lot and sometimes go over, actually it is usually how I end up going over, LOL. I do it too, don't feel alone. I think that is why keeping a food journal throughout the day is so important, at least to me.

So, how do you like spinning? I have some friends who go to the same gym I do and they want to go do spinning classes and I said I am game but, we haven't done it yet. I want to try one once at least. I have never taken any of the classes offered at my gym....

Keep up the great work. Your already 20lbs down. That is amazing and a huge accomplishment. I really think with all your hard work with your eating and exercise (hooray for weights!!!:) ) that you can meet your goal for your best friend's wedding.

Tennis is a fab workout, and I can't WAIT until I'm fit enough to start playing again. Sounds like you had fun. If you are hungry after your workout, listen to your body. Try to grab something high in protein and good carbs, but post-workouts it's best to avoid too much fat.

Blancita I'm sorry, I haven't actually asked her, I think I will email her though. I think I'm going to take it upon myself and cut 150 calories from today's intake, because the cumulative deficit is what I'm going for, I'm sure that the correct advice is to simply pick it up where you left off, and try not to miss the intake again. I'll let you know what she says.

Rho She told me that in the beginning that if I slip up I have to tell her, so I'm going to email her and see what she thinks. I don't think 150 cals is such a huge deal, so I hope it's no biggie if I just cut it from today but I'll make sure I get in a good protein intake. Thanks I had a lot of fun last night, I slept like a rock, I was super tired.

Sam I think it's so nice that you stop by when you can, don't even worry, thank you though! I love keeping a food journal, FitDay is so interesting. I have learned from Leigh that grams are what matters. FitDay underestimates calories, so I ignore the calorie amount it totals, and calculate my calories by 1 gram of Fat= 9 cals, 1 g of Carbs= 4 cals, 1 g of Protein= 4 cals, and my calculations according to grams is always 100 cals higher than the FitDay readout. I think the reason for the discrepancy is that the nutrition labels are allowed to round up or down, but calculating the grams is keeping me honest and accurate. I love spinning by the way! So much, I'm looking forward to tomorrow morning's class, thanks so much for the encouragement ;)

Sanvean Thank you for saying hello! Also thanks for the advice, I hope you're able to start playing again soon, perhaps working on the serve will help get you started, that's what I do when I don't have anyone to play with and I'm too tired to run around. You'll get there soon, and I'll stop by your diary one of these days. :)

I emailed Leigh and I'll wait and see whether I should stay where I am- 1500 cals, or increase to 1650. I am about to go grocery shopping and after that, I have to lift. It's a nice night so I'm thinking about playing some tennis. I hope you all had a nice day. Tomorrow morning is spinning, and I want to make sure I push myself really hard. I'm not looking forward to planks or step-ups. lol
