Losing Weight in the Land of Chocolate and Cheese!

That sounds like a really light dinner for someone who's got her appetite back. Amazing that you can hold yourself back like that. I'd have to have something much bigger (with appropriately low calorie density, of course).

And I love that feeling when you're not trying that hard but still doing better than the people around you. Isn't it awesome? :D

Yup, it WAS a realllllly light dinner. I had my lunch at about 2.30, though, and I was meeting my hubby at his work at 6 to play poker with the crew. They had all sorts of terrible food there today, and I just avoided everything and had the water. It was tough though! Later on when we were playing, they have a little 'micro kitchen' there stocked to the brim with lindt, toblerone, maltesers, Ben and Jerry's ice creams.... and then they have a tiny fridge with some veggie sticks and cottage cheese. So that's all I had.

I must admit though, it took a LOT of will power last night to not crack and eat something yummy (that everyone else was having) between 7.30 and midnight. I think I was worried about my chocolate muffin...

I like the sound of your running track, I wish we had something like that here, in my local park there would probably be just enough space for one. Oh well....

That fridge sounds to die for.... Well done for avoiding it. Is that something to do with google? Theres a book coming out about the google offices, I read an article about it, and omg, it sounds SO FUN to work there.

Seaside doughnuts are cooked fresh for you in a deep fat fryer, with a conveyor belt, then they land in a vat of sugar. Soooooo good, but noooooo good.

Mmm what an amazingly delicious breakfastttt.
Well done on your hardcore cycling despite sore legs. <3

Thanks, Caffeine! It was actually really hard, yeah.

SO Yesterday was a SHITday. Just lots of crap went down, I realised yet again that I can't handle stress very well, and I had a big sad. My man was great, as usual, in these situations, and supports me and helps out to get my back. Ah, I love 'im. :)

SO even though it was saturday, after a blah day we stayed in, I made some grilled spicy chicken breast with oven roasted veg (but very little fat - they were YUM!) and watched a movie cuddling on the couch. It was hell nice. We don't do it often enough.

in more important news
NEW JEANS! I haven't worn my old ones for EVER because they are faded, old lady jeans, terrible shape... but the only ones I could find long enough. I FINALLY found a shop in Zurich that sells only jeans, and I got ones that are awesome and dark and LONG (36 inch, yeah!) and... yeah! Awesome! I have been a size 36 in jeans (god knows what that means. Usually on the bottom I'm a 16, but here I'm a 46, and in jeans a 36. ??

I tried on some nice stretch ones in a 34, just to see, and they were too big! I tried the 33, and voila - perfection! It's nice to rejoin the world of denim again. :)

:( Hope the shit of yesterday doesn't bleed into today. I'm glad your hubby is there for you.

Yeeeehaaaaaaaaa! Well done!!!!!!!!! 36 to 33 is brill. And I am so happy for you that you have finally found a shop in the teeny-tiny people-place of Zurich which sells nice long jeans.

I had a dream last night that I was in Switzerland but all the snow on the mountains had melted, and I stole a massive pink gym ball, but couldn't find anywhere to hide it. I believe a pirate got their legs cut off at one point as well. Hmmm.

HAHAHA!!! See, you just can't get away from me! Well, yeah, there are a lot of pink gym balls and amputee pirates around in this teeny-tiny-people-place, so that totally makes sense ;)

Shit day is staying behind in yesterday's news. Today the sun is shining. :) Thanks for checkin up on me.

MOOOOOOOOOOOOORE food challenges today.

Our new friends (yay!) invited us out for brunch, where they have a lot of the yummmmy breakfast things that we would eat if we went out for brunch back in Aus. Eggs benedict, pancakes, full English, ham and cheese omlette, etc.

TEMPTATION!!! :reddevil:

So I got the eggs benedict. Which I know is like 4 million calories. But it's been about 18months since I've had one... The big thing for me was that I had HALF of it, and was like 'myeh. I'm done.' Which is NOT LIKE ME AT ALL! Especially with breakfast stuff!

Everyone else around me had some eggs benedict variation (ham, spinach or smoked salmon), polished it all off with a 500ml energy juice (I had a green tea) and THEN had dessert! Two people had a serving of pancakes afterwards (three big pancaked with ice cream and maple syrup), and one had the chocolate mudcake with ice cream. I resisted by getting a coffee. :cuss:

How do these people stay so skinny? Gr! HAPPY with myself though. :coolgleamA:

(meanwhile, right now, four hours later, I'd die for a stack of those blueberry pancakes with that vanilla bean ice cream and maple syrup... mmm)

Should be going for a run. Legs still stufffffffed. :ack2:

Mmm pancakes with vanilla bean ice cream. Amazing. You made a great food choice, despite a difficult day the day before.
So glad your boo is there for yoooou.

Mannn, all that food sounds amazing. Although I have no idea what eggs benedict is? Can you tell me :D Then I shall know ALLLLLLL! Pancakes sound super. And the juice, although that really is just empty calories full of sugar :(

Have a beauuutiful sunday!

:) Thanks, girls, you make me smile :) Hehe.

Sunflower - Eggs benedict is traditionally a toasted English muffin with slices of ham (though you can put spinach or asparagus or smoked salmon), then poached eggs ontop and hollandaise sauce all over it. YUMMMMMMMM.

TODAY

WOW I went for a big bike ride. Like the kind I would usually have done on our big 6 month bike tour, and that I have been avoiding for the past 6 months. The thing that made me do it? Well, my hubby and his friend were going to go, but 1 km from the house they had an accident where a pedestrian just wandered onto the road. The pedestrian was fine, but my husband had to break quickly, and our friend couldn't respond fast enough so smacked really hard into the back of him and fell. He's okay, but lots of cuts and bruises, and a VERY VERY smashed helmet.

So because he is incredible brave, he said that he should go home, clean up, and still go for a little ride, because if he didn't, he might be too scared to go again for a long time. So they called me (ever the protector and the gal with the first aid kit) and got me to come clean him up. Then I said I'd come with them for their little test ride. It was only 45 kilometres instead of the seventy they'd planned, but I had expected probably less than ten. So I was (and am!) a bit buggered! And cycling with two very fit men with racing bikes, while I have my hybrid and am not an excellent cyclist, was tough. Managed to average about 28 to 30km/hr on the flat, though, for about an hour and a half, so that was pretty good for me!

I just got home from an open mic night at our local pub where I got up and played three original songs with my geetah. It was hell nice! Nice crowd, good musicians, nice night. :) Will do it again for sure.

A nice sunday. MUCH better than yesterday!

Hi DM, Size 33 jeans- NICE!
"I realised yet again that I can't handle stress very well,"- sounds very familiar!
"My man was great, as usual,"- You & I are very lucky there :beating:
"I just got home from an open mic night at our local pub where I got up and played three original songs with my geetah. It was hell nice! Nice crowd, good musicians, nice night. Will do it again for sure."
It's great that you are making such good friends & finding your niche over there. I'm enjoying your diary immensely. So happy that your week has mostly been a really nice one! xoxo Cate

Wow where do you live? I'd love to play at an open mic night. What sort of music do you play? SO COOL.

Um.
You're super sporty and that's amazing.

Hi Cate! I know! size 33! Cool, eh :) You are so right - we are really lucky to have the lovely men we do in our lives. And thanks for being happy for me about finding my niche here! We really are, and it's just lovely. xxx

Caffeine - Well... I live in Switzerland at the moment. In Zurich. But the music scene here is a bit dead, really. Back in Australia, there were bars and pubs that open mic nights all the time! Do you play too? You should have a hunt on the net and see if you can find something! I play guitar (mainly... though I do have a ukelele, a mandolin and a banjo too...) and sing, folky/bluesy kind of music. I write a lot of music, and I'd give my left foot (was going to say 'arm', but I kinda need that for guitar, haha) to be able to write songs like Laura Marling. Her song 'Rambling Man', for example. Genius. Makes me sick. :)

ME?!?!? SUPER SPORTY?!?! :smilielol5: I think that's hilarious! My problem is that I have NO motivation to do sport alone! So I need some kind of competition or game involved. The gym is NOT for me! I actually have a nerve/muscular symdrome (a ridiculous off-shoot from years of chronic fatigue) that prevents any endorphins from being released when I exercise, so it's always a struggle. I always do it because I KNOW it's good for me.

But thanks! I'm glad I come across that way! Ha. :)

Feeling good today, but struggling a bit with wanting to graze continuously. Might be because I started my sugar pills two days ago, so I know the cravings will probably hit me full blown very soon. GRR. Still managing to keep it at bay. but fighting that 'fuckit' voice in my head.

Really happy with my last week of progress. My wii fit graph for my daily weigh-ins usually fluctuates enormously, with big spikes and dips (though the spikes are always less than the previous spike, and the dip less than the previous dip... so that's my signifier of weight loss!) but for the past week, I have been really steady. Losing 0.1, 0.2, 0.2, etc. Slow and steady...

a frittata is in the oven. Doing lots of slow cooking keeps me busy... I've been marinating veggies, then roasting them, then turning it into a frittata... don't know if I can really do any other step after that one, to keep me busy! Might go soak some chick peas or something equally as exciting ;)
