Little John's trying again. And again. Aaaand again.

There was one time when my nerves were too frayed to withstand random kid-screams (the angry kind, nothing to do with pain or despair) and I couldn´t leave... so I screamed back. Loud as I could. I´m not proud of it (adults are supposed to just tune these things out, no?) but the kid was just stunned into silence, then started laughing.

Blargh, fell off the wagon hard this weekend. Ate too much, drank too much. I was hoping to go full bore LCHF this week, but I'm taking part in a Manufacturing Summit for my company, so I'm at the mercy of whatever's available from catering. Pretty sure breakfast won't have much in terms of eggs, so I'll try to have it at home this weekend. Exercise will be a challenge, too, since it's three days of 8-7, include social hours. For that reason I'm going to be not-so-good this week on follow-ups - here or in other journals. Hope all y'alls have a good week!!

Thanks Jen, I survived for the most part. Managed to lose a pound over the week, but I don't feel too tickled by it, it may have been muscle loss...

First day and a half were well-done, on my part, and really, overall I did OK with a couple of semi-significant mess ups. Mostly stuck to low carb, but there were some beers I had to try at one point, and last night I decided I needed to pick up Chinese on the way home. I'm feeling bloated at the moment, but I'll attribute that to a salt-laden meal last night. I didn't have a chance to exercise, sadly, and I don't know if I'll be able to make up my lost miles for April for the Miles In April challenge, but I'll take a look.

Anyway, today's a new day, I'm going to be moderately well-behaved today and start up LCHF again tomorrow.

Take that one pound loss! And tell yourself it was fat not muscle!
Getting back on track is always the hardest part, but it IS doable and you CAN do it!

I went full bore LCHF this weekend.

Little Caesar's Has Food.

And, I ate it. I ate ALL that shit.

My lingerie collection always makes me feel more pretty. (Feel free to quote me in a sig with that).

Anyhow, keep fighting the good fight. There are ways to work in everything you like to eat/drink as long as you can limit how much of it you consume. Hell, I had ribs tonight.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions...

I've been lurking the past few weeks, for some legit reasons, but also since I'm embarrassed to keep falling into the food truck.

I found out the hard way why table saws need to have blade guards installed. I didn't install it, and now I plan to have funny fingerprints. Didn't cut my fingers off, but my middle tip may require amputation, depending on bone growth, and my index finger joint will be fused straight. Luckily it was my left hand, and I'm a righty.

Three guesses how I dealt with the fact that I couldn't use my hand. I'm accepting of the change, but I couldn't do anything with my left hand for the last few weeks, and general activities were limited since I was fatiguing easily. I also was in a general grumpy haze due to the drugs and atrophy. So I ate - everything.

So I'm back at work full-time today, feels good to be independent (I only need help tying the drawstrings on my gym shorts, which I'm not wearing to work!!). Still can't do my standard lifting/rowing stuff for now, but I will be hiking 3-4 times a week, and trying to get in some walks.

Thanks for reading - typing still sucks, so I won't be the best cheerleader on other diaries, but I'll still pop in with a couple words of wiseness.

Oh man that's terrible dude. Heal up as best as possible and then get right back in the saddle.

And I doubt you make a very good looking cheerleader anyway, no offense. :)

Urgh. Well that´s no good at all... Hope you´ll regain full function in your hand asap! Fingerprintwise you´d only have needed to wait, they tend to get less noticeable with age (my mom´s only 63 and last time she needed her passport renewed they could only get a print from one finger out of ten so I guess she´ll just have to stop travelling ten years from now).

Just keep trying. I have a love affair with foods.. Well, chocolate. Stopping myself eating too much is hard, so don't feel bad. Everyone stumbles. So long as you keep getting up to try again!

I'm so sorry about your hand, that must have been so painful! Hope you can get back to as normal as possible as quick as possible. Great plan on doing some hikes instead!

Aw, man, that's not what I was hoping to read when I saw that you had posted again. Do what you can, LJ, we're here for you whether you put on that cheerleading skirt or not.

So sorry to hear about your hand LJ. :( My grandfather was a great woodworker and had many mishaps with his fingers. I hope you heal up quickly. Just try to do the best you can under the circumstances. Wishing you well...

Thanks for the support everyone. Getting my pins removed on May 29th, and hopefully I can start the full regime in June. You don't realize just how useful your left hand is - try washing both armpits and flossing with only one available hand. Try q-tips on your left ear with your right hand! I've compensated pretty well - my personal favorite is the right-handed cleaning of the right armpit: I have a soapy washcloth and swing it into the pit, and catch the cloth underneath then drag it out from the clamped pit, repeat 3-4 times. Sorry ladies, don't mean to tantalize you with that image, I'm happily married!

Time to reset the "...and again" counter. Again. Going to focus on better food and some kind of physical exertion three times a week - hiking is the current choice. Food continues to be a challenge - a slight change in our life may change things, my wife has decided to become a Pampered Chef consultant and will need to practice her recipes. Some of those are healthy, some are not.

Part of my reset will start tomorrow - daily status updates on weight and calories in/out. Good or bad, I need to do it. Also want to ramp up my interactions on other journals -- short, but I need to check in, especially to those of you who check in with me. I really appreciate the encouragement, and it's only fair that I share the support.

Good to see you back, LJ. On the food front, my memory is that a lot of your food troubles come from drive thru and convenience store excursions. So maybe it's possible to make adjustments to keep those to a minimum. Don't really know, just thinking out loud.

Let me know when it's been enough time since the injury until I can start making "I can't put my finger on it" type jokes. :) Take care.

I always say weight loss is 90% diet and 10% fitness. So if you can get the diet under control and keep it there you will still make losses. Can you lift with your hand as it is now? I mean, I know you probably can't grip but what about the machines, or you can just do leg day for a month and have massive quads, lol!

Portion control, my friend. Now will be your time to fine tune those skills. Tiny plates and tiny forks might be best for taste testing. And maybe you have to waste some food... make sure you don't sacrifice your health because you're convinced you have to eat everything. Gordon Ramsey doesn't! Bobby Flay doesn't!

Bummer man! I'm glad it wasn't worse, but ouch! I rebound a bit with being laid up with my knee. You've got a plan and you're heading back the right way. That's what's important. The daily check in are a big step in the right direction.

Hope you are able to get back on track and that you can get back into your routine!! The first step is the hardest part, it gets easier after that!
