Lisa's Master Cleanse

i want to try this thing and i will go the store today but my main concern is 'no food' at all. are fruits and veggies completely off limits?

Yes, according to the specifics of the Master Cleanse, all food is off limits. This is because the point is to allow your body to rest from having to digest food. Then the energy that is normally geared towards digesting food can be used to help your body rid itself of toxins.

There are some less strict cleanses out there. Going raw for 30 days is another popular way to cleanse, so eating only raw foods and drinking the lemonade would be a pretty good cleanse. Again, I suggest to everyone that wants to do this to get one of the books, it really explains things well.

Hey Lisa; I'm afraid I'm gonna have to bow out of this thing after 3 days. I just can't hack the taste of those lemonaide drinks. lol But I feel pretty good doing it for 3 days. And now back to eating on plan and working out at the gym. Good luck to you! :)

hey guys.. im on day 20 at long last!! Yes fruit and veggies are completely off limits you cant eat anything, although you can do a relaxed version of the master cleanse, ive seen it on the internet .. i think you can have one meal aday and lemonade for the rest of the day. I think thats right but i may be wrong!

Way to go!!! How do you feel at 20 days?

I am going to start my Master Cleanse tomorrow. I got all my stuff. If you dont like cayanne pepper in you lemonade drink, I have purchased cayanne pills just in case! Way to go Lisa.

Hey, thats great that you have decided to do the Master Cleanse. I have one question about the pills, are they in a gel cap form? The book I have actually addresses the pills and says that when they are in the gel cap form, its gelatin that makes that up, which is very hard for your body to digest, therefore taking away from the cleanse. It might not be that big of a deal, but I just wanted to let you know what I read. However, I do know that the cayenne really does help things, so it might be better to take the pills than not have any cayenne at all. I'm not sure. I thought about taking the pills because I didn't think I could handle the taste of it, but I've gotten used to it. I just think of the lemonade as medicine that I have to get my required dose everyday. So I just chug it. I don't put as much cayenne in as you are supposed to, though. I just sprinkle some in.

Either way, I'm sure it isn't that big of a difference, I just wanted to share my experience. Let me know how it goes!

Weight: 235.6lbs

The salt water was a lot easier to take this morning. I'm not really sure why, but it didn't taste as salty and disgusting lol. I didn't use as cold of water, so that might be one factor, so I'll have to do that again.

My BMs are still going strong lol (sorry if I give too much info with this stuff).

I think my face is really starting to clear, the skin just looks so much healthier and brighter.

I'm still feeling tired. But that might be my own fault for not drinking enough lemonade. Yesterday I got 7 1/2 glasses in. I was aiming for 9, but I got distracted and then it was time for me to have the tea (you arent supposed to drink anything else right before or after drinking the tea). But I woke up really hungry, since I went so long without the lemonade. Right now I feel full from the salt water, but I'm about to go make my first glass of lemonade.

I'm going to the movie theater again today (I know...I have a problem lol) to see Shrek 3....so that should be fun. But I am going with my family again and my mom always buys my brother candy, so I'll have to go through that torture again (this time I won't sit right next to him).

I am also going to try to exercise today....I keep telling myself I am going to, but I put it off. I'm just going to walk on the treadmill and see how I feel, but at least it will be something.

Okay, well I'm off to make my lemonade. Yay :rolleyes:
 
Hiya.. im feeling ok at the minute, although im getting to the point where im starting to think ive had enough, but i really want to hold out for the final 10 days. I just want a proper meal!! lol My tounges starting to clear up though which is good. Are things still going ok for you?

Hey, yeah im good, just craving food in a major way. My sense of smell is enhanced, so it tortures me lol. My mom just made this thing where she sauteed some spinach, green beans, and broccoli and added 2 eggs, which normally I wouldn't be a huge fan of, but MAN the smells were torturing me and now thats all I can think about lol. I think I need to go drink some more lemonade, that really helps the cravings go away.
 
Hi, sry to bother u again but i was just wondering if it was ok to use sugar free maple syrup??

Hey, thats a good question and I don't think he addresses that in the book. But, I would suggest you don't use sugar free. If you get a good organic maple syrup, then the sugar is not going to be refined. You need the sugar for energy, that's basically all you have to keep you going.
 
Wow EmmaLauren, 20 days! good for you, I think that's amazing. Lisa you're doing wonderful! I wanted to add my own little detox story. I didn't eat anything for 8 days after my jaw surgery, and I had just quit smoking and drinking pop as well...so I drank water for basically 8 days straight (I just slept and laid in bed though), my skin cleared up amazingly well. Not a blemish in sight, but then I think my body was sort of detoxing as well because (I know this is gross) I had this oily sheen on my face for like 2 weeks after. I've never had greasy skin but I'd wash my face, and like 10 minutes later my face would be shiny. So I'm just saying basically, I'm curious to see if your face gets greasy like that, from pores becoming unclogged or whatever. This thread is really interesting!!
 
Hey thanks Lukewarm! I think im going to start the come-off diet though pretty soon. I have heard that you are sposed to get oily skin whilst being on the master cleanse, but i havent experienced that. My skin has gotten clearer though. I think i mit try a small water fast like you did... after ive had a nice bigggg meal after this cleanse though! Im getting hungry!!
 
That's really interesting...what are you going to eat when you come off the cleanse? 2Skinny said she was doing OJ and Veggie Soup. Also, how long are you going to be eating liquids/soft foods before you graduate to normal food?
 
Im going to be doing two days of watered down orange juice.. with vege soup for tea on the second day. After that i think i might start having salad and fruits on the third day.. im not sure if that would be too soon to introduce solids though. Im just going to see how i feel when i get to the third day. I think i might come off tomorrow.. for me 20 days is a good amount of time on it, im very ready to finish now!

Actually I think my face did that whenever I started eating healthier and being a vegetarian. I had never had oily skin before, but all the sudden it was gross oiliness...I didn't know what to do lol. That was about 2 months ago that it was really bad, it has gone away since then. I think my body was adjusting to my new way of eating and the fact that it was getting more water. So hopefully I won't have to go through that again **knocks on wood**. I've also heard of people getting rashes on their faces from detoxing, so I'm really hoping I don't get that symptom lol. I'm about to start my summer job and the last thing I need is some weird red bumpy rash thing.
 
Oh ok....well that's cool! Our bodies are so smart. They know when we're trying to do something good and they do the same...let go of all the latent smog stuck deep inside our pores. How exciting!!!!
 
lol I'm sooo looking forward to those first days coming off this. Everything is going to taste amazing!!! I plan on doing orange juice and grapefruit juice the first day then juice and salad the next day. After that I am going to try to eat only raw for the next 3 days. And after that I'm aiming for vegan. lol at least thats the plan at the moment. I had cravings today in a major way, but I think its because I went too long without drinking the lemonade. I started picturing chinese food and you know how in movies people will go into one of those little trance things where someone says their name and they don't hear them, then finally they yell at them and the person realizes they were in a whole different world....that was me today thinking about chinese food....but without someone yelling at me lol.

Congrats again emmalauren. I don't know if I will make it to 20 days. Right now I am aiming for 14, then I will assess whether I can go another 6.


I think I am going to put away the scale for the next few days. I know that this cleanse isn't all about losing weight, but im obsessing over it. I'm going to try to not weigh myself again until day 10.

Today I actually did 30 minutes of walking on the treadmill. It felt good to be somewhat active, though I did take it easy because I don't know what my body's limits are right now. Tomorrow I might up the speed and incline a little.

I just rented Pan's Labyrinth, so I'm off to watch that now. Hope everyone is having a good day :)

Wow, sorry for no day 7 update. Its 430AM and I just got back from babysitting. I have been out of the house ALL day lol. but luckily I planned ahead and made lemonade to take with me places.

I have decided to only go for 10 days on this cleanse. As much as I would love to continue and see what it does to my body, I think that with my starting work this next weekend I won't be able to keep up with it. I will have to work 8 hour shifts and I am not able to take drinks with me or take bathroom breaks every 30 min to pee lol. So I am just going to go for 10 days which will have my last day on Friday. I may do another cleanse before the end of the summer. lol its sad cause I feel disappointed in myself that I can't do 20 days, but 10 days is actually the amount the book recommends....I guess I'm an overachiever :p .

Anyways, I'm off to bed. I'll tell more about how day 7 was tomorrow.

Thank you :) ...........and actually I'm weak when it comes to the scale....I'm a slave to it lol. So I ended up taking it out again today and I lost another .8lb, but I tried not to let the number be the important aspect to me. I'm really going to try tomorrow morning not to weigh myself.
