Lift, Train, Fitness

Feeling a little sore in the glutes today, deficit deadlifts really hit the muscles of the arse :) I don't train for appearance but for those looking for a nice tight round butt this is one exercise you can do.

Quarter squats are bad for your knees and spine. Evidence:

Hartmann, H., Wirth, K., and Klusemann,M. (2013). Analysis of the load on the knee joint and vertebral column with changes in squatting depth and weight load. Sports Medicine 43/10:993-1008.

‘With the same load configuration as in the deep squat, half and quarter squat training with comparatively supra-maximal loads will favour degenerative changes in the knee joints and spinal joints in the long term. Provided that technique is learned accurately under expert supervision and with progressive training loads, the deep squat presents an effective training exercise for protection against injuries and strengthening of the lower extremity. Contrary to commonly voiced concern, deep squats do not contribute increased risk of injury to passive tissues.’

Quarter squats irritate me, sooo many ego lifters claiming a big squat, and they are only quarter squatting

the attack in Christchurch was horrific today :( feeling bad for our neighbours over the ditch.

It's also the logical consequence of xenophobia and islamophobia - although to call hatred fear is probably giving violent wastes of space too much credit.

Ok day at the gym, Saturday is my light day so 10 sets of 3 @ 50 kg bench, 3 second pause, explosive press, 40 seconds rest between sets.

accessory work was serratus press, cuban press and back extensions.

I have been a bit slack with tracking but hit 99% of targets today. I was 0.4 mg short of my copper target.

Calorie Deficit 700.

I was a bit high on carbs but still within upper keto limit.

Did not track food on Sunday but it was not to bad, had a beer as I watched the Eels win their first game of the season, hubby took bub grocery shopping during the game lol, I tend to yell at the TV.

Today was bench, sets were done at 77.5 kg (171 lb)

Afraid you´ll expand her vocabulary too much, too soon or just uncomfortable with loudness? I know I used to run when my dad got loud, even though I had no earthly reason to be scared :)

Probably more to do with my husband not feeling comfortable when I yell, however he does like to stir the pot so to speak by supporting whichever team my team is playing against lol

hanging in there today, did not sleep well last night, spoke to mum on the phone, she sounds sooooo tired and she mentioned that so has an appointment to the the palliative care people next week.

I have a date for my next colonoscopy, it will be done down the coast in the private hospital in Noosa instead of the public hospital, they never let the wait times on these procedures get very long.

Gym was ok, 100 kg for squat and nice solid reps on deficit deadlifts.

Waiting for lunch to cook, I have a local free range chook in the oven

I have never had a colonoscopy & no-one has suggested it to me. Did you have a bowel screening test, that showed an anomaly?
When are you going to see your Mum, Tru? Will you take bub? Hang in there. Mum's are tougher than we think. They brought us up after all.
