Lift, Train, Fitness

We always holidayed in Tathra when we were kids. Such a beautiful place & such happy memories. That is very sad Tru!

I don't know how many hours I spent fishing from the location of this video, behind the person making the video is dense national park, the fire is still active and out of control, with some bad wind this could rip all the way up towards towns up the coast. I have friends posting missing notices online for missing family members who are not at evac centres. If the fire goes south I will have relatives in danger, If it goes north some good friends are at risk.

The fire is on both sides of the Bega river.

heard from my uncle this morning who is ok, but sooo much destroyed, the pub, the bowling club, the golf club and the bottle shop so nowhere left to get a drink. the school is gone. if the wind had of been blowing the other direction, all of Bega would have gone up in flame and not just the Tarraganda section where it started and where all the large gas bottles at peoples home were exploding.

The more contact i have with friend and relletive the worse it sounds, the fire has been declared a catastrophe.

been a quiet week, heading into town soon to watch a friend and training partner run their section of the Commonwealth Games baton relay. I chose not to work in sports medicine for the games, bub takes priority over a sporting event.

How lovely to hear Tru :)
Tell me, where do you get your patience & tolerance from? This is not bub-related, of course :)

I have 3 Autistic sons, it is a sure way to learn tolerance and patience lol combined with working in the dressing rooms of male athletes there is nothing I have not heard before.

Not much planned this weekend, hope to get our new peafowl enclosure finished as the boys are well into growing their new trains. Also need to trim the wings of some wayward chickens who keep escaping the chook yard. Easter is not a big deal for us, we are not religious and we don't eat chocolate lol

Sounds like a very productive Easter coming up Tru. Do you have a big chook yard? We're not at all religious either, but a good quality (do they exist?) Easter egg wouldn't go astray. I didn't buy any though, so it's unlikely I'll get one :)

The chook yard is about 35 metres a side with the wire dug into the ground to deter predators but we have some young hens who have been testing their ability to fly. we have a small number of chooks for the space available (10 hens and 2 roosters) but wanted them to be as close to free range as possible without having them wander over into the neighbours macadamia farm which is a health hazard and puts his crop at risk of being rejected so we are very careful.

Lucky chooks! That's a good size. It's not 35 metres squared I wouldn't think. How wide is it? I'm assuming it's long & skinny. I would love a proper safe chook yard!

My parents built a big wire tunnel before planting new cherry trees. The top keeps out birds that want to help with cherry picking while the bottom keeps in the chickens (which handily clean up any fallen fruit). Thanks for being careful with your neighbors´ crop; it´s so helpful when people understand these things.

For my three boys

very few people understand what it is like living with Autistic kids until they have their own, when they have a meltdown it is not a choice, they are not just naughty kids who need discipline. The bullying my boys have suffered for their entire lives has been atrocious. As a parent of Autistic kids it becomes normal to be an outcast due to your kids. With three on the spectrum you learn to take whatever gets thrown your way, mostly bad.

Autism is mostly hereditary. The chances my Daughter is also on the spectrum is very high. The youngest of my sons and the one with the highest severity of the three is very aware making the comment "I hope my sister doesn't have the same problems I do, I wouldn't wish it on anybody"

I have nothing but admiration for the parents of children with Autism & it saddens me to hear that your younger son expressed that comment, obviously based on the way he & his brothers have been treated. What a sad & sorry world. Bullying sucks!
