Kureransu's Log.

Quick update. did another 20 miles of running this week, and 3 days of weights. I am sooo burnt out. Its time for a break. I figure it like this, I've been going to the gym 5 days a week for 24 consecutive weeks. Each week i am like 2 percent weaker than i was the week prior. So if week one was 100%, next week will be like 50% I was about to barf today while lifting, and i know i wasn't lifting that hard, or so i think. but after next week, i am taking 7 much needed days off and will remember to take my breaks every 12 weeks. I've soccer tonight and a wonderful weekend with my darling. Hope all is well with everyone.

Hey all! Like melissa, I ran the turket trot in Detroit, Michigan. It was so packed, i couldn't register in time so i just had to time myself... It took me 55 minutes! Not bad for a first race. My girlfriend ran the stuffing strut (which is a 5k, the turkey trot is a 10k) And she finished in 40 min. I was very happy with ehr as she has only been running for 2 months! The crazy thing was the attendence. 15,000 people showed up, which is alway why it took 55 min, i usueally get that in about 52 min at the gym, but no worries. there all types of holiday costumes and just a overall good time. Weaving through the slower people was painful at first, as we all ran together, but it got better when the 10kers broke off the path to get in the other 3.1 miles. good times people. i recommend it to everyone, there is a race for everyone there and you'll have a blast!

great time in your 10K! sorry to hear you couldnt register in time!!!

Hey i would recommend getting on active.com and seeing when all the upcoming races are!!!! They will start to slow down here soon obviously because of the seasons and what not... but they have all the races in the area on that website and you can pregregister to guarantee your spot in the race AND.... you get the proper Tshirt size!!!
( this is important to me..... if i dont preregister... i will swim in the tshirt they assign to me lol)

anyways, super proud of ya buddy... look at us... we hated running before... and now.... we looooooove it!

its such a freeing thing isnt it?

Also... not to be annoying... but did you get yourself a road id yet? if not... please please please get one!!!!

roadid.com

i got one and its like another part of my body now... if i do not have it on when i am out running or at the gym.... i feel naked.

<3 stay true clare.... and congrats on your first big 10k race! many more to come i am sure of it!!! :)

check them out. its a velcro id... has your name and D.O.B and 2 emerg contacts... also a fun quote if you want.

if you were to get hit by a car, twist an ankle, fall and be knocked unconcious... whatever.... paramedics or someone passing by will see this bright band around your wrist or ankle.... and know who you are and your emerg contacts immediately. you can also put stuff like... diabetic, etc on the tag. check them out. Their only $20

Back to the grind that is work today... I forgot to mention on friday i set a new PR for the flat barbell bench.. 315!!! that's about all i ever want to lift, so i am a happy camper. Today i did a small full body workout, followed by a 3 mile run, this is the week i begin my vacay from the gym, so wednesday can't come soon enough. how is everyone doing?

listen clare bear... i get on here after lord knows how long and there is NO UPDATE from you this month?????

HOP TO IT!!!!!

by the way: hello :) :waving:

hey all,

OH MELISSA! how i love thee! lol yeah i'm here now, take that!

I started back at the gym after my 7 day rest period. It felt good to be back, i started my new journey with a 7 mile run today back on wieghts tomorrow and then i need to plan a a year end workout to maximize weight loss. i've been maintaining my weight between 222 and 225, but i think i want to drop at least 8 lbs this year to get around the 215 mark. Sorry for the no post, but i took a break from fitness completely, sans the soccer game, which we won! how has everyone been?

whoot whoot!!! Congrats on the soccer win!!! :)

How did your brain handle the 7 day break? its a long time! I would think you may have had ants in your pants to get back to it??

i think i am scared that if i took that many days off ... i would not want to return to it????

7 miles!!!! whoooooie!!! way to be holmes

and i dunno why... but on biggest loser... i dunno if you watch that or not.

but you remind me of that dude on there that fell in love and proposed to alexandria :) you and ur honey baby remind me of those two... hehehe

if you dont watch it.... never mind. I think his name is antowine.

Year in review.

Well guys, its been almost a full year since i started this journey, and i figured i'd share some thoughts on the experience/reflect to perhaps motivate you guys.

When i started this year, I was 330 lbs. I told myself that I was going to put my life first and lose this weight. I said i wanted to lose 130 lbs in a year. I never really thought i could do that, but i figure if i strive for it i would get pretty close. And i did. I read and read and researched and tried out different things 2 years prior, in order to come up with this plan and develop the discipline needed. So don't think i just magically woke up and it happened.

So first couple weeks was diet only. I lost like 4 lbs. So cool i knew i was eating right. From there i took off. which is relative, because i would barely break a sweat on that workout now lol. I decided to do the elliptical. 20 min was all i could handle and that was all i was giving, one level one no less. One day i say these two 50+ year old ladies going for an hour, and i realized i could do at least a half. so i tried, and i did. a couple weeks later, i tried and hour and did it as well. from there i figured out the formula, try to be better than you were last time. I began to increase the miles in that hour slowly but surely. Next thing you know i'm hitting mile 9 at 58 minutes on level one! Well it was time to start over. Level 10! back to 6 mph, and i slowly worked my way up to 9 mph again, level 15. hard i got to seven, and played around between 15 and 17. I believe i stopped at 7mph at level 17. I'll let you know why i stopped in a sec.

My other goal was doing a pull-up. My the time march had come , i had lost 30 lbs and was at 300, according to plan. I would need a couple mroe months before i got my first pull-up, but i tried every day. Between jan and march i went to the gym everyday. it was crazy. March was good becasue tennis came about and i was eager to get into it. Right away i injured myself. two weeks from tennis and a week from gym. I was sad, but still lsot 3 lbs the week away from the gym. After healing, i got back into tennis and realized i was a lot faster. Weight continued to drop and drop. By may i was 50 lbs lighter and did my first pull up. Also was my first date, which i was asked on by the woman. talk about an ego boost, this would be the first of many apparently. My family saw me for the first time and was floored (wait til x-mas lol). I was a great feeling. June i went on vacation, and my friend and his family were floored as well. I was 269 at this point, losing 61 lbs. I gaind like 5 lbs that trip though lol, but lost it as soon as i hit the gym the next week and then some.

July was a staple month for me. A friend who was also losing weight, asked me to run a 5k with her next may. ME? RUN? never. but i told her yes, because i thought she was hot, and we ended up dating as well lol (I dated another girl between the first one and her, but that story isn't worth telling lol) Again I was approached by her on the dating side. But back to running. I stated it out, running from my house to the corner, than corner to corner then two blocks then 3, then4 and i was running a mile in 3 weeks. from there i flew in the running dept. I now run 64 miles a month, with a high week of 20 miles and a low week of 12 miles. On high weeks i do mon, tues, thurs, fri. and i run 3.7,7,3 respectively. Low weeks are 6 miles on tues and thurs. I ran my first race on thanksgiving, clocking in 6.2 miles in 55 min. The longest i've ever run non-stop is 10 miles, which took 1 hour 41 minutes.

August was my 10 year reunion. Talk about a surprise for everyone! at this point i am getting compliments like "buff", and "hot" lol. On the gym front. People are always coming to me for advice and asking about my diet, which i don't really have one. I eat out of necessity and treat myself accordingly, that all i tell them. I just work hard. I'm bowling and playing tennis like 10 hours a week. And just enjoying life. The regulars deem me as one of them, and informs me tha i have a resposibilty to help anyone who needs it, like they helped me. I never mentioned but i do my gym activites between 5 and 6 am, to make sure i take care of me first, and the same people are there everyday. its like another family.

Sept. me and the 5k girl decide to call it quits on the relationship thing, and the next weekend i ask someone from the 10 year reunion, if they wanted to catch up over lunch since i was in her city. Well she was the one who hooked me. Our second date was a one mile run (all she could do at the time) and bleachers. talk about an awesome girl! Now a days she can run up to 4 miles! and did the 5k on thanksgiving while i did the 10k. She's now my GF and she works out 4-5 times a week as well. She lives a couple hours away, but when we see each other we try to workout together at least one. its quite motivating as we don't want the other to look better than the other lol.

October-now is pretty much making it through the new year. 10 x-mas parties, x-mas and thxgiving, will take its tole on me, although i want to drop a little more. I'm not going to reach 130 lost, but i can reach 115, being at 108-110 as of now. the best part is that i'm healthy. I once wore a size 54 pant and 4 x shirt. i wear a 35 pant and a large shirt. heck my undershirts are medium. I'm also now a healthy 21% body fat, compared to the 35% when i weighed 300 lbs. As of today i did 12 consecutive pull-up before fatiguing. nice. I joined an indoor soccer league and i am having a blast. i teach now. I get hit on now. And I feel great. Just looking at where i came from and where i am and where i want to end up makes me proud. I now have a new indescribable confidence. I now feel like i can do ANYTHING i put my mind to, and that nothing is too good for me. It was an eye opening experience, and just shows you how much we as humans can do when we really want to do it.

Anyway this is my year in review. Was it hard, not really a lot of hard work yes, but not hard to do. I guess i wanted it bad enough where i amde it happen. Thanks for any who reads this. If you have ANY questions feel free to ask. I didn't go into great detail, because it all right here in the journal anyway. By the way i want to thank the people here who rode this wave with me. Melissa, you're a doll and will always have a place in my heart. I'm not as hot as you are yet, but wait til next june. I'll be a sexy beast! lol Thanks so much for your support this year. Alta and cord, you guys have been there too, but i guess i singles out Mel because she's been there sicen day one. I do wish schwa and baglady still hung around, they my partners in crime too, and will never be forgotten. Bare and other newcomers you aren't forgotten, just know i appreciate you all and wish you luck and continued success going into next year. Thanks guys.

Wow, great recap of the year man! You're such an inspiration to me because your story is so close to mine, having started at 329 and being on pace to lose over 100 this year. Way to take back your life! I think I'm going to set a new goal to myself of doing a pull-up after reading your amazing progress. I don't think I've done a pull-up since like grade school. :blush5:

Do you have friends you play tennis with? I'd love to get into a tennis club or something, but I don't think there's any around here. Used to play with my friends (we were terrible) in college. I hope to get into some leagues soon like you have and make fitness a part of my life outside of the gym. It is amazing what you can do with a little motivation and the snowballing confidence that comes with it.

No prob melissa, you are simply amazing and i'm glad we did this. thanks for the kind words. we always be in touch somehow, so no worries.

thanks MM, yeah i play with friends, we all started out sucking, but we've all gotten pretty good. no tennis club for me. There are also areas where you can just walk on and get a few pick up games going. Good luck with the progress, it'll be fun, doing pullups are great, and a nice way to get a nice back!

you've been doing a lot of thing right there. i know it's important, but do you feel tired my friend?

Well i get tired, whcih is why i took a week off to recover, and boy did it feel good, now i'm back and better than ever. January i will be taking off from all other non gym activities, then soccer in feb and tennis come april!

been a few days. Anyway, i am still hanging around the 220-225 range. enjoying the holiday parties lol. Soccer was a blast! finished the season 3-4-1, which i'm happy with, i actually scored on my last game, which was so refreshing and gave me a new boost of confidence. Still hitting the gym regularly, and i'm even getting compliments on my arms! lol its good times, just enjoying time with the gf, since she's in town all week. she and her younger brother are both hitting the gym with me, as i gave them both 1 week passes, so its a ton of fun! how is everyone else doing?

I read through a lot of your journey today, and it was a great read. Congrats on the great work! It inspired me to give running a try... when winter is over of course :blush5:

Hey Hey Buddy!!! Glad to hear you are enjoying life! That's what it's about after all! ;)! I hope you have a great Christmas and a Happy New year!!! :D!!! Enjoy and way to go on that Goal!! CheeeeeeeooooW! :cheers2:!!!
