Cohen's Lifestyle Kristy's Journey... =)

Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
Hiya

I hope I dont alarm you but Sorrento was one of the suburbs hit the worst - a lot of houses were badly damaged. But for all I know, there were no deaths. I hope you're able to contact your friends soon and they are OK. Lucky for your parents that they left last week!!!! Perth has had a very good run and I think compared to what some of the other states have gone through with natural disasters these past few years, we're doing OK!!

Cheers
Kristy

Sigh. I just need to have a whinge. I have not been eating extremley bad lately but not really good either. Little extra things here and there creeping in and I have not been as disciplined.... weight has crept up 3kgs above where I finished as I mentioned in a previous post. I know if I stopped my exercise that might drop down quickly but I really enjoy my exercise now.... I just feel so sick of thinking about food and weight. I know this is life because being overweight is a 'disease' and always needs to keep a very close eye on it.... but I guess im just over the thinking. I know my problem - I am snacking too much... snacking out of boredom and because I can. Once I get that sorted, I'll be right. My main meals are all cohens meals.

Theres my little rant. Just had to get it out. Thanks guys.

Kristy's journal

Hi Kristy - I've been there more times than I care to remember. I was like a yoyo...up and down constantly with the weight gain. Your right, it is a 'desease', but deseases are managable, if not curable. If there's one piece of advice I can give you to remember is that it DOES get easier. Once you develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle...LONG ENOUGH to give your MIND... TIME to FORGET bad habits...that's when it gets easier.

Good Luck

Yo Kriss don't give yourself such a hard time...
If you like to have a snack how about just switching your snack to a healthy one...for example i love to snack on crunchy celery sticks...

Hey Kris *big hugs*!

Well, at least you've pin-pointed your problem. Hope you get that snack issue out of the way! You can do it!

Hi Kristy-I find snacking a trap too & also keep my main meals as Cohen's. The sugar snacks are my downfall as once I start I find it hard to stop. Instead of processed sweet things when I'm feeling "naughty" I have sultanas or other natural sweet things. It's still too much sugar but I can stop easily. It takes such a long time to change our old, bad habits. You are getting there Kristy. You are becoming more & more aware & are keeping it under control. 3kgs. Pfft! Manageable! xoxo Cate

Hi all :)

Thanks for dropping by!! Feeling a bit better towards the end of the week. Slowly slowly starting to stop myself from grabbing things to eat when I'm not even hungry! So I will have it under control soon:)

Exercise is going great. Did an hour yesterday morning with a friend, 20 mins of running. Went out early this morning 15 mins running, 30 mins walking. A friend and I did a trial cake for the engagement this morning and it was lovely. Probably had a little bit more than a taste test! eek! so rich & yummy. Lunch at the inlaws and met one of Chris's uncles from Sydney... was beautiful quiche and salad :) didnt have any wine. Tonight we're off to a 30th, not sure what the food will be. Meat & salads I'de say... definately skipping birthday cake and also skipping the wine. Just not feeling it lately.

Weight has now been hovering between 59-60 for about 2 weeks, so it seems thats where it wants to stabalise... not extremley happy with that so I'll just keep on trying to be as good as I can and get it down. Would be happier between 58-59. I know thats only 1kg but would make me feel better to not be so close to the 60's heheh :)

Anyways sorry I have been a bit lazy with visiting diaries, so much happening! Will check in on everyone soon and have a read :) take care all. xo

Hello Kris

thanks for the lovley visit in my diary this evening, I really appreciated your supportive advice there. I am counting down till easter is over so I can make a fresh start.

I hope you are well and will start reading the diaries soon so I can see how you all have been going during my absence.

Thanks again - Sam:)

Hi Kristy, Sounds like life is a big social whirl for you & that you are really enjoying yourself. That's as it should be. I think you are doing well in maintenance Kristy. Keeping an eye on your weight & not letting it creep up is the go & that's what you're doing. Keep smiling :) Cate

Hi Sam & thanks Cate!!! I appreciate your kind words :)

I am feeling quite good. my weight is stabalising more and more as time goes by and I am still maintaining between 59-60 :) I can feel and see my body shape has changed and I saw a picture of myself from Saturday night gone and I don't look any different really to when I was down to my lowest!

Also as time passes I'm not thinking about food as much! The first 6-7 weeks on maintenance felt like I was constantly thinking about what I could eat next... it was frustrating and I just didn't feel like I could stop it! Just over the past few days I'm more chilled out, happy to just eat my coheny meals, crackers & fruit as snacks :) I'm at the lower end of 59 at the moment and hoping by the weekend I'll make it down to the 58's. I can only try!

Life is a rollercoaster for me at the moment! The engagement party is creeping up so i am busy with organising things for that, we have been looking online at a lot of wedding venues and 'short listing' the ones we're interested in looking at. We are going to start looking at a lot of venues after the engagement and pick one we like, and book and pay a deposit. We want to get it out of the way quickly and then start concentrating on saving! (booking the venue will motivate us to save!!). We're also thinking of possibly selling our house and moving a little bit away from the city and I am thinking about a possible job move. Lots of stuff to be done to the house so always busy busy. But keeping on top of it and my daily exercise gives me a good hour to put things into perspective and just chill and have some time to myself! phew!

Anyway, off to finish getting ready for work and have breaky!
Will catch up on everyones diaries when I can, have my hairdresser friend/maid of honour coming over tonight to do a test trial on my hair for the engagement party!

Ciao! xo

Hey everyone, just a quick update on whats been going on for me.

Had the busiest week at work! Pwoah, am I glad its a long weekend. Then again, I was offered to do 5 hours work tomorrow at an agency just doc formatting. They want to pay me a great rate per hour to do it, so I thought why not!!! It wont feel so much like 'work' because it will be different sorroundings and only me and another girl in the office. Am waking up extra early to meet friends for a big bike ride before I go off to work and then after work I'll just chill out at home for the night and watch movies.

The rest of the weekend is also busy, engagement stuff, checking out wedding venues, movies, bbq, a wedding on Monday. Hope I dont feel too run down after it.

Eating wise I've done better this week. Finally reaching that stage where Im not thinking about food 24/7 and dont feel the need to eat for the sake of it. Took me awhile! But I think about food very differently now and plan ahead when I know there is going to be a treat I want. The food and choc was flowing like crazy at work today but I just had my one choc chip hot cross bun that i have been looking forward to all week. Yum! It was great. I have resisted opening my little lindor choc bunny that I got today at work. i think I might wait it out until Sunday or something.

Also have dropped down to 58.8kgs and feeling a lot better, just got to keep it up and resist eating lots of choc this easter.

Hope everyone has a great one, might not drop by for awhile because I just have so much on its not funny. Its only 7.20pm and I think Im going to be off to bed soon.

Night night xxxx

Hi Kristy. It sounds to me that you have it in balance. Well done. Although your life sounds very busy you still seem in control and very popular, both with work and your social life. Good for you, xoxo Cate

Hi everyone!

A quick update from me.

Life has been crazy busy and the past week has been a bit crap with food. I have not been coheny at all and going more for convenience. Of course with Easter chucked in there as well... I didnt doo TOO badly but still could have done better. I am sitting just over 60 which is NOT where I want to be. I feel yukkky and I REALLY don't want to feel like this next week for my engagement. So.. my aim is to get below 59kgs again by this time next week. I'de be even happier if I could get closer to the bottom range of 58kgs. Between now and next Friday I only things on Saturday (BUFFET breakfast at Miss Mauds for a friends bday, and a hens night). I plan to have a hot breaky tomorrow, fruit and maybe one pancake. I dont want to go crazy and leave feeling horrible and over full like I used to at buffets! The hens night shouldn't be too much of a problem. I'm going to eat dinner before hand and I have to drive so I'm not drinking. I'll stay away from the snack foods.

I'm still going to exercise but just take it easy and I'm going to completely cut out carbs & sugars.

Sigh. Im not doing TOO bad considering, but I dont want to make excuses because its totally NOT ok that I have let my weight creep up 3kgs.

I'll check in and let you all know how Im going. Sorry I haven't been around much. I'll try and catch up on some diaries tonight, after my walk with my friend and the real estate agent comes over to evaluate our place!

Bye for now
K

Hey Missy

Been missing you in here!! I have been really busy too and with Easter and all I think most people haven't been popping in here as much as usual. I also only just got the internet connected in my new flat thisb week so have been sans internet for the last 4 weeks... gahh

Dont stress out about your weight. You are aware and in control of your life so just take it by the horns and tame it- I know that is MUCH easier to say that to acctually do!

I am getting a new plan online as my old one is old and my blood chemistry has changed, so am looking forward to recieving it nect week as I had my blood test yesterday.

Hope you have a lovely weekend sweet heart! Remeber the power is in your hands and you can achieve your goal :0

Big hugs
xx nicky

Hey everyone!

Hi everyone!

Long time no speak, its been ages! Sorry I haven't been around for so long! Busy busy.

So whats been happening in the life of Kristy! We had our engagement party a few weeks ago which was great - and we have also been looking around at wedding venues and made a choice on one. It is 10 minutes from our house and it is a venue we can do it all in one place, (ceremony, reception and stay the night), we are very happy!

I am still maintaining my weight within 3kgs. This is where my body likes to sit at with exercising a lot. Exercise is a huge part of my life now - I have been doing 2 body attack classes a week (high intensity aerobics), a group bootcamp on Sunday mornings and then in between some light sessions at the gym. Loving it! My fiancee bought me a heart rate monitor which is really motivating to see that I can burn 550 calories in one work out! Keeps me going back for more :)

My lifestyle has changed so much since the cohens programme and fruit, vegetables and lean meats are my staples now. I still have cohens main meals and sometimes just add sometime a little diff. Eg: breakfast is still natural yoghurt (same one I had one on plan), either peach or plum chopped up in it and about 20grams of special k (the small amount of carbs really helps after a morning work out). Lunch will either be a cohens tuna or chicken salad with some crackers or a wrap. Dinners are generally meat and veges and I'll just have different stuff when I go out. We never cook pastas or rice dishes at home anymore (i never feel good after eating that kind of thing), but sometimes just add some roasted potatoes or sweet potato mash to our meal. I generally stay away from bread as much as possible but enjoy one piece every now and then if I go out for breakfast.

I find my body is still quite sensitive to a lot of things and it takes a lot of time to stabalise after the program, but everything in moderation and keeping active helps. Also still keep up the water intake to at least 2ltrs a day helps.

So my life after cohens is going well. Even though I have gained a little my shape has changed quite a bit, a little more muscle definition and toning. I have been slack with my measurements but I am going to start trying to do those every 2-3 weeks or so rather than weighing everyday. Its hard to break out of that habit but then again it cant be that bad, it keeps you grounded. I still weigh some of my food. My meat, yoghurt hehe. Not a bad thing either :)

Well I'll try and check in a bit more often and have a read of everyones diaries, hope you're all well :)

Love
Kristy

Wow, Kristy you're doing well! I am happy for you! :)

Lol, one thing that has made me very happy on maintenance is NO MORE WEIGHING!!

I admire your fortitude with bread - myself, I am lucky that it doesn't affect me as others. I've started making my own bread in fact!

Yeah, the fact that you're exercising helps to negate the extra kgs you may have put on. Afterall you know your body best, and you can tell that it's tightening up, etc.

Oh, I'm happy that you're back on the boards, and doing so well! :)

Hi Kristy, It's so nice to hear from you & to hear that you are doing so well on maintenance. It's great for everyone to know that there is life after Cohen's & maintenance is doable, but is also different for everyone. It sounds like you & I are eating similar things and also have low tolerance to man-made carbs. We can live with it, can't we? Your exercise sounds like loads of fun, as do your wedding plans. I'm so happy for you Kristy. You have changed your life around & you have much to be happy about & also proud about. Good for you sweety, xoxo Cate

Thanks guys =o) I still have my bad days, like I proved today!!! Ive had carb overload and don't feel good about it! I also didn't exercise today because Im so so stiff and sore from my session yesterday, I just didn't think my body could take any exercise today! Back on track tomorrow and I'll feel good after a couple of days =)

I did unfortunately dive head first into maintenance though, I swore to myself I would take everyone's advice on the forums and tip toe but I went a little overboard in the first couple of weeks with my birthday. I may weigh a little less now if I had been a bit more careful! Just taking every day as it comes now =)

I hope everyones been well. Thanks for the replies :) Ill go catch up on some diaries now!!!

Hey Kristy

Just caught up on your diary and firstly congrats on the engagement!!! Sure your wedding is gonna be stunning with all the planning you have been doing.

Then congrats on the weightloss and maintenance. Even though you had a slip you rectified it immediately - which is good. Unfortunately I had a month slip and only getting back on the bus now.

You are a real inspiration to me!
