Cohen's Lifestyle Kristy's Journey... =)

Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
Hi there everyone,

The movie was good and bad. It didnt have the predictable soppy love story ending but I wish it had hehe, the end kind of disappointed me. Such a tear jerker!!!! My friend and I got chicken salads from Nandos for dinner and shared a regular serve of chips. We ate half between us which was good. We shared a medium popcorn meal and ate 3/4 between us. Was still a lot, medium is SO NOT medium! Gosh, it seems like the sizes increase every time I go back to the movies. Feeling pretty full from the carbs and I know I'll suffer on the scales tomorrow. All up I did about 50mins of walking today. I was still a naughty girl and had 2 cookies. Sigh. I did go for a walk with the girls down to the shop at lunch time though and they got chocolates, I got a Tamar Valley 98% fat free greek style yoghurt with mango. It was very yum. I think I enjoyed it more I would have a chocolate. Nothing tastes as good as it used too these days. When people said to me that would happen, I really didnt believe them. Unfortunately, its so very true. I think I just don't enjoy all the naughty things as much these days because I know what they're doing to my body. Hahah, still hasnt stopped me lately though! Grr!

As I said in Cates diary, I am doing my absolute best to eat all cohens foods for the next week and a half to try and get back down to 57.5 or lower. I finished refeed on 56.6 but figure now im exercising I cannot really expect to get down to my lowest. I have a movie fundraiser this Friday night and I'll do my best not to get any sweets. i wont have popcorn because ive had that tonight. Im then havin the inlaws over for dinner on Sunday night... we asked them what they wanted for dinner and they said fish & chips! What the! yuk! I said im not buying greasy fish and chip shop ones and that I will make homemade ones. We're going to do baked fish and homemade wedges and a big salad. Im undecided on what to make for dessert....any suggestions ladies? Low fat/easy? Otherwise im thinking of just doing a batch of scones with fresh whipped cream and strawberry jam. Ill then take the left overs to work the next day and get them out of the house!!!

My foot is feeling much better today. Has hardly been hurting. I will see how I go with a little bit of jogging in the morning.... I am also going for a walk with a friend around the park at lunch time. Im taking my walking clothes and shoes and we'll do a decent 40 minute walk. We're so lucky to have the most beautiful park in Perth right across from our walk (Kings Park in Perth if you want to google!).

Well i'll visit a couple more dairies and then I had better head to bed as i'll be up early for my walk!

Bye bye :)

Kristy-
Buy or make a baked cheesecake or a dark chocolate mousse. You would feel like you are eating something decadent but they are recommended in our maintenance guidelines. There is a Belgian dark chocolate mousse that is meant to be delicious but I haven't looked for it as I was too scared that it would be too delicious! xoxo Cate

Good idea, thanks Cate. I might stick to buying something so I only have enough portions for the dinner and I avoid eating any extra!!!

I did lots of exercise today!!! I went for 40 minutes this morning which included 14 mins of straight jogging, broke my PB! Woo!! I also walked too and from the train station to work and a friend and I did a 40 minute walk in the hot sun at lunch time! I have eaten reasonably well but I feel like Ive eaten a bit too much. I had to eat extra because I was so hungry from the exercise..hmm!

B: Yoghurt and Peach
MT - We had birthday morning tea, pies and sausage rolls, eek! and a coffee
L - tuna & salad + 2 crackers
AT - Apple
D - Savoury mince with some mozza cheese mixed through + 2 crackers

I guess its not HEAPS, but I did have a bit too much at morning tea. Reacted pretty quickly from the fat in the pastries...eeek!!!

Hoping for a small loss on the scales tomorrow, but wont cross my fingers. Will continue trying my hardest and for once I want to NOT have a blow out this weekend. Im also cleaning my friends house again for 3 hours on Sunday and we'll do a another big ride sometime too. Just need to keep level headed and by Friday next week I really hope to be down 1.5-2kgs.

Ciao for now, off to visit your dairies!

Hi Kristy, Glad your foot/ankle is much better. When I got my running shoes I was told that cross-trainers are nowhere near enough support for jogging. You sound like you have the exercise bug. Maintenance & exercise go hand in hand. I always have a piece of fruit before exercising & have something healthy handy for afterward. Pies & sausage rolls are def. not 'medicine' Kristy! :) xoxo Cate

Hi there everyone :)

I know Cate, I am regretting the pies and sausage rolls :( I put on 200grams overnight even though I ate well for the rest of the day yest besides the morning tea and I did nearly 2 hours of exercise!!! I cant turn back time but I can decide to not have them at the next birthday morning tea next month!

And I was very good today. I didn't exercise because I slept quite crappy last night and this morning I just could not drag myself out of bed. Today I have had;

B - Yoghurt & Apple
MT - Coffee, crackers
L - Savoury Mince
AT - Apple
D - Steak & vegetables

Soon I might have some banana & honey yoghurt with some sliced peaches. Yum!

Tomorrow im going to try something new as I have been feeling quite hungry in the mornings after my exercise. Im going to have 3 thin rice cakes with light phili cheese & sliced tomato, and a piece of fruit for breakfast. Yum! Looking forward to it. I have also packed turkey & salad for lunch and dinner will be a nandos chicken salad before the movie!

I ordered HALF a marble baked cheesecake from the cheesecake shop for dessert on Sunday night. I thought I'de do the half so they can demolish it all off (oh they will, trust me!) and there will be no left overs. Im terrible if there is anything naighty in the house!!

Anyways, will go and catch up with everyones diaries =o) ciao!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend so far! Mine has gone a little like this...

Last night - we went to a fundraiser for the prevention of youth suicide and depression and saw Alice in Wonderland at the movies. I had low expections of the movie but it was actually really good, enjoyed it :) Shared some chocolate and lollies with a friend and ate a bit too many! That was after nandos too, eek! Picked up a lot of weight over night and feeling grosse for it, now 3kgs over end refeed weight and there's no way its getting any higher!

Today - started with yoghurt & peach for breakfast, 2 crackers. Then we set out on a big adventure! We did a huge 32km bike ride which took us 2 hours. We then went down the shops for a few things... I bought myself some awesome running shoes! They are Brooks ones which apparently are one of the best - $170 but I'm sure well worth every cent. I got a sumo salad for lunch and a small coffee..came home and watched a movie, had a few little snacks (apple, crackers). Then we were bored - thought we would try out the new shoes! Ended up going for a 60 minute walk and probably only about 10 minutes of running in that. PWOAH! 3 hours of exercise down today!

We went to our favourite burger place for dinner - they use the grain fed angus beef for their patties and it's just so yummy! We thought the onion rings would be a better choice for entree instead of chips so we got those, it ended up being a small serving and was just 5 big onion rings, I had 2. Tasted quite greasy, wish I'de passed! Burger was really yummy and even though it was a roll and it had cheese, it didn't taste like it would have been full of fat and was really bad for me. Meat, cheese, onion, salad and tomato sauce. Was yum! Nothign else to eat for me tonight and the tiredness is just starting to hit me like a tonne of bricks... going to sleep like a baby tonight!

Tomorrow - a run in the morning, cleaning friends house for 2 hours, hang around home and relax/clean tomorrow, in laws are over for dinner. We bought 5 really nice looking portions of atlantic salmon from the seafood store which we will probably bake somehow. Ill have to look up a good recipe. Serving with a salad and oven chips, which Ill have about 3 of, so I can have a piece of baked cheesecake! Hmm, depending on what I weigh in on tmorrow =\

Either way, no excuses this week! 100% cohens food Monday-Friday! Going to stick to 5 crackers and 3 fruit, back to black coffee's, 3ltrs of water a day! That should help me to loose a little bit and feel better again.

Anyway, feel like I am about to fall asleep. Gosh, its only 8.30pm! how lame.

Night all, sorry for the ramble!

Hi to anyone who might be reading.......

Today = Kristy annoyed!!!! Guess what the scales said this morning? 60.1kgs!!!!!!! What did I finish refeed at? 56.6!!!!!!!!! Guess what time it is??? TIME TO GO BACK ON PLAN!

Im guessing the overnight gain was either the exercise or the burger - either way, tomorrow I'm back on plan for how ever long it takes me to get back down to what I finished refeed at. I'll be doing 100% (weighing also) and easing up on the exercise for while Im on plan. If its more than 10 days, I'll have a break from plan for a couple of days and then get back on...because I dont want to do refeed again!!!

Didnt get up for my run this morning because I was just so tired from my big day yest, then also my friend said she doesnt need me this morning to clean which I am kind of glad about. So today is going to be relaxing and cleaning and then prepare for dinner tonight for the inlaws. A very small piece of baked cheesecake for me before I jump back on the wagon with you ladies tomorrow! Sigh.

Chat to you all later.
Bye for now.

Day was pretty good. Spent some time cleaning, relaxing and watching movies, picked up some things from the shops... ended up going for a 40 min walk/run at about 3pm. Was only 28 degrees at the time but the sun was beating down so hard - damn I sweat like no tomorrow! Felt good after it though. Dinner went well - cheesecake was to die for! Ate it very slowly and savoured every little mouthful - also when I eat it too fast I want more! Sent all of the left overs with the family and now my house is free from anything naughty :)

Have prepared my tuna & salad for lunch, breakfast will be yoghurt and a peach. The only thing I am going to do differently is have 3 pieces of fruit instead of 2, I just think this will make a huge difference for me to get through. Might also have vita-weat this time round as I find they are a bit more filling than the premium crackers.... You never know, I might only need to do it for a week or so and I might be back down. Not sure how much fluid im retaining. But either way, I feel better having made the decision to get back on plan and I know it will all be downhill from here :)

What I have learnt - I didn't tip toe into maintenance! Once Im back down and off plan again, I need to find a better balance and only allow myself 2 desserts a week (these are my downfall!).

Well Im feeling pretty tired so might get an early night. Not sure where everyone's been this weekend but hope to hear from some of you lovely ladies soon! xo

Kristy - I'm nervous about maintenance. What do they really mean about tiptoeing in maintenance. :p

I am sure though that you'd blitzed through that 3 kg and be back on track!

Hiya!

Dietgrrl -dont be nervous, just be smart! I had too many things that I was craving too quickly and did not ever resist anything I wanted - thats what I mean by diving head first into it! One thing that I found was that on refeed there is so much food to consume that you have to end up eating quite frequently - I got into the habit of this and took it into maintenance with me...and I got used to eating at certain times and kept this up. I wasn't listening to my body and eating when I was hungry! As long as you listen to your body and just eat when your hungry, eat cohens 90% of the time and then add in some things you want - you'll be fine!!!

I am happy to report that I have been 100% cohens today! I weighed all my food to plan weights also, drank 2.5ltrs of water (probably could have done a bit more but was so busy at work I kept forgetting!), 1 black coffee and 1 sprite zero. Woohoo! Feeling good.

I'll be 100% Monday-Friday except for Friday night's dinner as I have a dinner out with Chris's work friends. I'll just get a chicken salad though so it wont be too 'non coheny'.

Hope everyones well! I will go visit some diaries now.

Hi guys

Just dropping by quickly, before I have to make dinner and head over to a friends to help prepare her house for a home open!

800gram drop overnight! Woohoo! So glad :D Was not 100% today.. had more than my allowance crackers and 50mls of milk in my coffee.. but stayed away from anything bad which is good! I was going to go for the cookie jar so many times but I talked myself out of it!!!

Anyway off to cook dinner then to my friends. Tomorrow I want to get up for a run, so going to increase my meal sizes a little bit, but stick to cohens foods :)

Bye bye xo

You sound very positive Kristy! Well done on the 800g drop. Don't you just love how your body just clicks when you do stick to Cohen's. I know it sucks that we are so sensitive to other foods but it just means we have to have more control. *sigh* You can do it sweets & I hear that you are looking pretty darned good! ;) Thanks for being sweet, xo Cate

Hi guys!

Thanks for dropping by Cate :) my body definately loved my coheny day! Pity I didn't keep it completely coheny! Eek!

Today started with an hour in traffic, late for work and then realised I forgot my lunch and snacks for the day - damn it! There also ended up being st patrick's day morning tea at work - couldnt resist! grrr! had some muffiny kinda stuff. Not good stuff at all! Friend ended up taking me out for lunch...was not very hungry though. Had a really small salad which was spinach, tomato, avocado & egg - and a yoghurt. No afternoon snacks. Got home and went for a run - GUESS WHAT?! Ran for 4kms/25mins - yay! Felt awesome. Im so happy with that. Hopefully that worked off some of the naughties.

Dinner is a tuna salad that I was supposed to have for lunch.

Might go for another run in the morning! My new shoes are really good! Loving them.

Alrighty - catch ya later ladies.
K xoxo

Hi again everyone,

Well I'm 1.1kgs down since Sunday. I wish it was more but I'm the only one to blame for that! I have been trying to be as good as I can, but been giving in to some naughty things. Today we had subway catering and I had 2 cookies! Eek! This morning I ran for 20 minutes, walked for 30 minutes. I felt really bad after the cookies so I decided to go down to the local gym after work and pay for a casual session... I was curious to how I would go on the treadmill. I did 10 minutes of walking and then managed 30 minutes of jogging at 9km :) I was very very sweaty!! Apparently burnt 300 calories. Which was 1.5 of the cookies haha!

I dont ever feel like anything heavy after a work out - so i came home and had scrambled eggs and a whole heap of mushrooms. Was yum. Very tired now!!! Luckily I booked a day off for tomorow so I have a day to do whatever I want. I am going to run in the morning, wash and blow dry my hair (oh its been grosse all week!), do the food shopping and then just relax for the afternoon on the couch and watch movies/read.. then I have a dinner out with Chris's work friends. I have checked out the menu - its italian so theres not much that's healthy. Im going to stick to a chicken & avocado salad. They have other chicken dishes but most of them come with a creamy garlic sauce and roast potatoes.. hmm nah!!

Well thats all from me, i had a really huge day at work and after my 2 work outs, feeling very tired! Talk to you all soon :) xxxx

Wow Kristy! What a work-out! That exhausts me just reading about it especially when I just decided to have a totally lazy-bones day reading a book. That might inspire me to do my bike & weights though.....but maybe after lunch! You'll work your way back to where you're happy being but remember that it may be hard to get to your lowest weight with all that exercise. Time to get out the tape measure perhaps & use that as your yardstick. You may weigh a little more but you might also measure less, especially around your waist. That's what I find with the exercise. It's more important to your health. Enjoy your day off sweets, xo Cate

Thanks Cate :)

I am feeling it today!!!!!!!!! I'm quite stiff and tired. So glad I have the day off. If only I could have slept in... stupid body clock!!!

I think I'll give the jogging a miss today and get some use out of my wii fit. I am going to do lots of stretching and some yoga, I think that will make my body feel a lot better :) It wont be much of a calorie burner but ah well :) its not all about the calories burnt - also about feeling good and being healthy!

I weighed in 300grams more today, I kind of expected it when I felt how stiff my muscles were when I woke up. Its all good. My body seems to just like to hover around 59. Maybe this is where my body wants to be with all the exericse? I'll see.

I need to go to do the food shopping this morning but so hungry - need to have breakfast first. No yoghurt. No mushrooms to go with my eggs. Hrmmm. I might be a bit 'naughty' even though its not toooooooo bad - and have an egg, ham, cheese and tomato mountain bread wrap. Just mostly protein - should keep me full until lunch time ide say!!

Catch you all later - hope you have nice things planned for the weekend =o)
Kristy xoxo

Hiya all! =)

Hope everyone is having a good weekend. Mine has been pretty good. It was great to have a day off on Friday to myself, even though it went so fast! I did some shopping, watched a lovey dovey movie and then went for a short stroll in the afternoon. I then had the dinner out with Chris's work friends. I had 1/2 piece of garlic bread, chicken/spinach/onion and feta parcels with salad for main and 2 glasses of wine..and lots of water! Scales were up yesterday which must have been from the wine as I'm back down again today after a reasonably good day yest. So all is good =o)

Im off for a ride with a friend in about 40 minutes, then going for lunch by the beach with another friend...and thennnnn another couple of friends are coming over and we're cooking them dinner. They have been preparing their house for 2 weeks for home opens and have lived off take away food and no sleep! I offered to cook them a healthy dinner and to relax and watch a movie tonight at our house. I have a stuffed chicken roll which im serving with roast pumpkin, cauliflower/broccoli cheese (ok so thats not thattt healthy), and corn. They are bringing a fruit sorbet for dessert - looking forward to it!!!

Back to work tomorow...sigh. This will be my last full working week for 5 weeks though! Because of the easter public holidays and then I have a couple of days off before and after the engagement, and then the anzac public holiday... 4 day weeks for me for awhile! Ahh looking forward to it. 4 day weeks just feel so much more managable!!!

The plan this week is to keep eating as well as possible. I have quite a few things on next weekend which involve eating (dinner on friday, lunch with the inlaws on saturday, 30th bday on sat night). Eek!

Well i had better get ready for my ride! =o) Hope you're all having a great weekend and keep continuing to be strong being 100% with cohens - it is so worth it in the end. Being in maintenance world and feeling thin and healthy is so rewarding. And you will find that your life has taken such a huge turn from pre-cohens.

Stay strong everyone!
Kristy

Hi Kristy, I had typed a long post in here on Monday(I think) but must have clicked on "Cohen's Lifestyle" instead of "Post Quick Reply" as I see it's not here. I shouldn't admit to it but it's certainly not the first time I've done that! How lovely of you to have your friend's over & to care so much for them. I love hearing how you have changed your life. Your meal sounded quite healthy I thought, especially the chicken & the cauli/brocc gratin. Lucky you being able to eat bread without suffering! I really limit most carbs like corn & pumpkin but can cope ok with sweet potato though. It's delicious baked whole in a little olive oil, salt & pepper & some fresh herbs. You can do carrots, onions, zucchini & squash the same way. We do ours together in a Le Creuset & they are yummy! There is nothing wrong with loving nutritious food. It sounds to me like you are coping really well with maintenance. I know that it's frightening but imposing your own limits is a great way to feel that you are in control. You are. Well done Kristy. Love your energy! Please send me some, xo Cate

Hey all,

Sorry I haven't been around the past few days. What a nightmare its been. I am in Perth and was stuck right in the middle of the huge storm in the city. It hit us so fast and it was so incredibly scary. Our office was flooded and I was lucky that my car was under cover and didn't get any damage. Chris's was fine too, thankfully! I sat in traffic for 2 hours and moved all of 500metres, so I decided to park my car up on the side of the road and walk to where Chris could come and pick me up where there were no traffic jams or road flooding. That worked a lot better - otherwise I would have been in my car for about 4-5 hours tryin to get home (which normally takes me 30 minutes in peak hour). I came and collected my car later on that night and she was unharmed, so lucky! We had a little bit of leak-age in our house but nothing serious. There were people that had their cars and houses fully flooded - so much hail damage to cars too! So we feel incredibly lucky the way we came out of it.

We were sent home from the office yesterday as we had no power, the carpets were disgusting and wet, no water etc. Today we're getting there slowly. I don't normally have access to the forum at work but I am logged on externally through an internet card so I do. I cant do too much work as most of the network is down. I might go home and work soon, it will be much more comfortable than sitting in an office with no airconditioning.

Weight wise - eek. Still sitting 3kgs up from when I finished. Sometimes it bothers me, sometimes it doesnt. I am having a 'fat' day today because its TOM and I just feel yuk. I would love to loose another 7kgs but I just dont think my head is in it at the moment. I'll continue trying my best. I am going well with my exercise. I seem to always be able to get some sort of exercise in most days - whether it just be 30 mins of brisk walking, or my running, or a cycle. I spoke to a PT and she said it is quite normal to have gained a little bit, which I know it is...but I hate being so close to 60kgs again.

This weekend there is so much on and I don't know how I'll handle that! I plan to just stay away from alcohol which I know is one thing that affects me a lot.

Anyways, thanks for dropping by Cate. Sorry I'm not too positive at the moment! Life is nuts!

K xo

hey MissKris, sorry to hear about the storm...glad to hear that you are fine though...and there's no damage to your car.. i have family and friends in sorrento and joondalup....kinda worried now as there's no information about it on the search engines as yet...my parents were in perth last week for a holiday...they left last thurs though...
