(was planning to do water aerobics this evening but opted out.) Very tired, aching from yesterdays gym, and am just not feeling very up for it. Bit low and depressed this evening. Not sure why. Combination of rain (which I HATE I really am living in the wrong country LOL!!) and 2 year anniversary date with bf not going as weel as I'd hoped!!

Your foods look great! Sorry your day hasn't gone as planned, tomorrow will be better. Chin up!! :D:D:D

My top 5 reasons for getting to my goal weight

ONE
Being overweight is a slippery slope.
I was on my way towards obese and I hadn't even realised it. I need to sort it now before its too late, coz every time i diet and fail, I end up slightly heavier!

TWO
'It's in my genes'
Often used as a reason/excuse by the overweight (INCLUDING ME!!!!) And its very true.

I was always the skinny girl in our family, before I came to uni. All my female relatives are overweight, apart form one auntie who used to be anorexic. All other aunties, both grandmothers (one now deceased) my sister and my mum are/were all obese. My mum has been around 300 pounds my whole life, and always blamed it on having four kids, and various psychological issues from her childhood. (I, for the record, have neither of those excuses!!) She has tried EVERY diet under the sun including (from the top of my head) Atkins (twice) weight watchers, slim fast, long-haul fasting (terrible I know) CABBAGE SOUP+god knows what else. And, the simple, effective "eat less, exercise more", to no avail.

BUT she is FINALLY loosing weight, through the cambridge diet, a very low calorie, shake based jobbie. I'm not a fan of that kind of diet in theory, but I have seen her drop from 300 pounds to 180 in less than 6 months. It may not be, strictly speaking, the ideal way to lose weight. But ITS WORKING!!! And its the only thing that ever has. And the long term results will be a much better quality of health than she had before.

I saw her after a long absence recently, and almost didn't recognise her. It was WIERD, almost spooky, to see my 'fat' mum only slightly bigger than me!! But the important point in all this rambling is- if she can do it, ANYONE can!!! (including me!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I don't have to succumb to the genes that plague the rest of my family!!

THREE
On a more vain and practical note, I will be able to enjoy shopping again!! I used to LOVE a day at the mall, but it became a trial, with me desperately trying not to look in mirrors, and trying to squeeze myself into clothes a size too small coz I couldn't bear to accept that I had put on EVEN MORE weight!!!

FOUR
I will be able to stand and pose for a photo, without holding something in front of myself, hiding behind someone, or at least sucking my tummy in as much as I could!!

FIVE
To improve my health (that should have been number one really shouldn't it!!) Have a family history of dodgy hearts and high blood pressure, so I really shouldn't strain mine!!!

AND
CONFIDENCE!!!!! I want to see photos of myself and go "wow, I look GOOD!" I want to walk down the road next to my friends, without feeling like 'the chubby one'. I want to sleep with my bf without worrying about my wobbly bits!!

Oh, I like this list!!! I might print it off and stick it to my mirror. Or better still, my fridge LOL!!! :D

Wohoo!! That's the way to combat a bad day!! What a great list, I can relate to 99% of all of that. You go miss thang!

And it may be a long list of foods but it's a good healthy list. 103 over isn't too bad. And wow I didn't know swimming was so good at calorie burning. You're doing great!!! Keep it up girl!! :D:D:D

yoz.....wow doing well on the exercise part, keep it up!

ha i feel very self-conscious in swim wear, so havn't tot of swimming as my weightloss program. maybe when i get thinner. and yes it does burn lots of calories!!!
btw do u get hungrier after swimming? my frends who swim say they do.... dats one reason i stayed off the pool too haha.

Yes I was REALLY hungry after swimming yesterday, esp coz hadn't eaten for ages before coz I didn't want to get cramp!! (I'd made sure I bought some healthy food before though, so I could fill up but not feel guilty afterwards!!)

I was surprised too when I worked out how many calories I burned swimming yesterday. AND that was a conservative estimate, I was in the pool for over an hour, but knocked my time down to 45mins, to account for time floating about getting my breath back!!

hahahha. u r funny... dat floating around.

i can't swim! hahaha....so plan to take swimming lessons when i am less BIG. hope it's fun. i do enjoy dipping in the sea once a while. cools me down.

how's yr day?

It's only 8am here in rainy England, just got up. I would NEVER usually be up at this time on a saturday, but I had to get the bf up for work, so here I am!!

I can only JUST swim. As explained in earlier posts, but my swimming teacher housemate has taken it on herself to teach me, and apparently I'm doing well! (she said the other day "you could swim all along you just needed the confidence!!") I am enjoying it as well. MUCH more than I thought I would. I'm enjoying it EVEN MORE as it was something I'd always written off as not bring able to do, so I've not only got the physical 'feel-good' thing of the exercise, but I'm feeling like I'm accomplishing something personally as well!!!! :D

Awww.....the hardworking gf.....sweet.

wow yr hsemate is nice!
hmmm...hope i'll feel the same as u soon.

hv a great saturday ahead! mine is already half gone. 3.20pm here.

I used to swim at this lake my friend had a house near and we'd swim out to this rock like half a mile deep into the lake and it was such a good swim. Which I could still do it, but its such an inconvience right now to find a pool...good luck with your swimming its the best excerise out there

Thanks!! I was going to go to the gym today, but have got muscle pains in my leg, poss. from yesterday swimming even!! (worth it though) Might take a nice long walk yesterday instead, or do my yoga dvd if its still raining later.
