Kez tries again!!!

AND! I've just remembered, when I walked into the bedroom after everyone had gone last night, Dave was saying how gorgeous I looked, and how in year 6 one of his friends told him he'd end up with a beautiful girlfriend and he never believed him but he has!

Awwwww! I love this! And he's right--you're beautiful. Glad Dave can vocalize that fact. You're doing great, Kez! Keep it up!

Hey.

I've had a BAD 2 days with being healthy! Not like earlier in the week, when I gave myself 2 days 'off', for finishing exams! These past 2 days I sort of lost focus, and, especially yesterday evening, I had a bit of a binge at work

I have got to try harder this week!

Goals to help me do this:

1) Record calories on here every day EVEN IF I have another binge and am terribly embarrassed about it!!

2) Exercise 4 times this week (I've got the time as I work evenings so there's no excuse!)

3) Take lots of healthy food to work every day, or buy break food before work starts.

4) Record calorie expenditure more accurately. (Usually I just assume that I burn 2000 + any extra exercise. But now I am working I burn more than that, and I want to have a better idea!)

I just weighed and it says 154 again!! That's terrible. I KNOW I cannot have put on 3 lbs of fat this week! I have not been THAT bad!! My only REALLY bad day was yesterday. So I guess it must be water weight/salt/food in transit?!

I don't know, but I can't bear to change my ticker! I'll give it a couple of really good 'good' days, and weigh again, and see how it goes.

Oh. 2 more things I have to do this week- REALLY focus on drinking lots, its SO hard at work!! And also focus on getting fibre- that should help my weight drop back down!

And I'll take measurements tomorrow (don't have time now!) and see if I've made any progress in that direction in the last month.

Oh my god. So, it HAS been a month. A whole month of posting in here (almost) every day, a whole month of meticulously recording EVERYTHING I put in my mouth, a whole month of making time for exercise even during my busiest exam period, and depriving myself of all that chocolate etc that usually helps me get through those stressful times! It has been a whole month of this crap, and apart from a very few exceptions (including the last few days) I have been ABSOLUTELY good and healthy, and for what?

I weigh EXACTLY the same today as I did this time last month.

I struggle to see the point, I really do! It seems my body is determined to weigh exactly the same whether I eat what I want, or attempt to be healthy. I can't even call it a plateau as I haven't even STARTED losing again!

Aww, that is really really frustrating, but you've definitely made some great life choices - making a healthier you. Which of course probably doesn't help much right now. Maybe it's time to assess what you're doing and try to figure out why it's not working? Have you built any muscle that has replaced fat? Maybe you weigh the same but still look better because of that?

Try to stay positive :)

Awwww Kez, reading your post from teh day of the last exam made me SOOOOO excited about tomora!!

You have done BRILLIANTLY this month, exam stress and healthy lifestyles are not easy to run together, but you did it, and you should be proud.

The scales may not be moving the way you hope, but the post about how much better you felt in the gym shows your hard work is having a positive effect. When do you retake your measurements?

Really hope the scales start to move for you soon, but dont let a number take anything away from your great work

Congrats again on finishing exams, and WHOOOO at sorting out your trip, bet you cant wait :D

Big Hugs,

Kato xxx

Hi,

Its really difficult and stressfull going through exams, so don't get down hearted.
You will have some time off from the exams during the summer and you can concentrate on loosing those inches instead of passing all those exams.

Stick with it and you will see results.

Good luck.:)

Kez, I have three points for you.

1. I am sure those 3 pounds aren't real weight. It'll come back off.
2. Keep doing the right things and the weight will take care of itself.
3. Be forewarned. You're into that last bit of weight and your body is going to fight you on it. This book is a great source of info

Thanks everyone!

So, I have thrown away my scales!! (More accurately, given them to Dave to take care of for me!!)

I have done this for several reasons...

1) They are crap anyway, cost me about £4, and they are inaccurate and hard to read.

2) I have to leave uni in one month and go back to live with my parents in one month, and my mum has some really good scales so I'll be able to start weighing again accurately then.

3) I hate getting so hung up on the number on the scale when I REALLY AM seeing a difference, both in my fitness levels and the looseness of my jeans! My main goals now are getting fit for my trip, and developing healthy habits to stick to for life! Although I'd love to lose my chub, that is honestly secondary to these things.

4) There's a scale at the gym, so I can still weigh if I want/need to.

Kez's Shepherdess Pie Recipe

To make the bottom layer...

Sautee one chopped red onion, one chopped corgette, some crushed garlic and a few strips ginger in a tiny splash olive oil.

Add one tin tomatoes, some tomato puree, one tin washed broad beans, and one tin washed chick peas.

Season with salt and pepper, basil, chilli powder and dried chillis (fresh would be better I guess!) and the juice of half a lemon.

Simmer gently so it gets a bit thick.

At the same time, be making the top layer

Peel and chop 2 sweet potatos, one normal potato, and 2 big parsnips.

Boil til soft, then mash roughly with a big splash of milk (no butter!)

Put it together

In a big casserole dish thing, spread out the beans on the bottom, and the mash on the top. Top with crushed seed mix, and mozzerella (don't be too generous!) and grill for a few minutes to make a lovely crispy cheesy top.

Makes 6 portions, each only 300 cals!

Hi,
I had cottage pie last week and put it in my diary, and someone asked "what on earth is that".
Glad to see someone else likes it too (well sheperds/cottage pie, more or less the same:) ).

Like you, I get fed up looking at the scales. The ones I have at home read about 3kg different to the ones at work, so I just use them to make sure I am still moving in the right direction and also make sure I am not loosing too much (I wish :) ) or too little.
Keep up the good work.

Hey!
Great job! Like you said, even work, or daily activities count as burning calories, and I'll bet stacking shelves is quite a daily workout in itself ;)

Realise that u like indian food.
When u r in Singapore next year, be sure to check out Banana Leaf Apollo restaurant in Little India. Highly recommended.

I see you got fed up with your scale because it was acting like a little bitch. I understand. lol You did the right thing by getting rid of it for a while. Good thinking! You don't need that kind of annoying discouragement. You're doing fantastic.

Mmm but this one is meat free for all the veggies out there!!! And the meat eaters too, we don't need to eat meat at EVERY meal, and this is SO tasty I felt I had to share it!! (and just write it down so I can remember for next time lol!)

I worked out that on an average work day I burn 500 cals more than a non- work day. So from now on I'm gonna count my basic calories (before exercise) on a normal day as 2000, as I have been, and on a work day, 2500. These are pretty good averages, and saves me working it out individually every day!

Oooh thanks!! :p

:rotflmao: This made me laugh!!! Thanks Sunny

Hey diary buddies!!

So, yesterday was my first day off from work for 5 days!! My boyfriend says I am a workaholic, I only gave myself one day off after my last final exam, and I have been back at Tesco since then! I’m just thinking about the money

So, I really enjoyed my day off, and although I REALLY should have spent it spring cleaning, instead I did, well, nothing!! I dossed around on the internet and watching telly in the morning, then I spent the afternoon asleep, and in the gym, then I went to Dave’s in the evening for dinner, and we watched telly, then Superman Returns, which I thought was a great movie!! (I’m a sucker for a bit of superman) ;)

Also watched this program called How to Look Good Naked, which I LOVE watching!! It is so affirming and confidence-building, it's great!!
