Kez tries again!!!

Those end of day munchies can be hard to deal with that's for sure. I am actually finding it easier to just usually skip eating an after dinner snack so I don't even have to think about trying to eat well when I'm already tired. I feel like a zombie takes over my body after a while.

I like that pretty avatar. :)

Hey, aren't you glad you lost inches, even if it isn't reflected in the weight yet??

I am SO jealous of your trip, really wish I was coming.

Have a greta day!

Yes, I'm very glad I lost inches!!

I just got back from a swim, which was great!! And as some of you will know, quite a big deal for me!! I am not much of a swimmer (to say the least) but I REALLY want to be able to do it, and today was the first time in my life I've ever been swimming on my own!!

I did about 20 lengths (just under 3rd mile), it took me 40 mins mind you!! And I can only count about half of that as swimming, and the other half recovering

I have been very active today, despite it being my day off!! I have done some housework, been for a walk, had sex ;) (I know which one of these I prefer tee hee hee!), and been swimming!! So I have calculated calorie expenditure to be around 2340

Calorie deficit = 1437-2340 = -903

Verdict

Great!! My calories came in rather lower than I thought they would :)
And I'm VERY pleased with my swim!

Good for you for the swimming!
I hope you can use that improved skill many times during your trip. It looked great on the map, only, you seem to go past my wonderful country.. The train/bus trip through Russia takes some courage, but fortunately there are two of you! :D
Have a wonderful weekend!
Juliette

Hi Juliette!!

We actually looked into getting to St Petersburg (our first stop) by ferry and train over scandinavia, coz we wanted to be able to say we went all the way from London to Indonesia overland! Unfortunately it would have been much more expensive, and the rules of our ticket mean we have to fly out of London anyway  .

Hey Kez! Congratulations on your inches-loss! You're going to be one hell of a temptress on your upcoming trip. ;)

You say you haven't lost much weight but I notice you've been working out quite a lot at the gym. I would say you've built a lot of new muscle and this is what's making you feel better; your metabolism is roaring now. Just think: now you burn more calories just doing nothing, than you did before! Isn't that great? :)

I also wanted to share a little anecdote with you that I remembered when reading about your plateau phase. Hope it helps. Okay. I've always driven a manual car. One day, I was driving my friend's automatic car and I had to accelerate up this steepish hill. As I accelerated, I could feel the car switching gears by itself, from first to second, second to third. Now if you're not used to automatic cars, they can be bloody frustrating because you're not in control of what they do, like in a manual car. So I was pressing hard on the gas and wondering why the car wouldn't speed up and go into fourth gear. Then I happened to release my foot a bit from the gas panel and WHOOSH! The car clicked into 4th and I was off like a shot.

One day, after a week of weight plateau, I was gawking down at the scales and wondering how on earth they could say I'd lost 1.5 kg overnight, especially when I'd eaten heaps the day before and hadn't exercised. And I remembered my car experience and wondered: Could it be that, like a car, our bodies can only 'switch gear' and burn fat when we ease up the pressure on them? Like, you can burn fat but your body doesn't totally relinquish it until it's sure it'll get some hefty energy to replace what was lost? That would explain why sometimes we can have an energy deficit for a week or more, yet not see any weight loss, and then it suddenly all seems to come off after a good meal or a good night's sleep.

Anyway, I think you're doing great and I'm really inspired by your lifestyle. You eat a lot of very healthy foods! I'm getting a lot of ideas for recipes reading your diary too btw, thanks for that!

Take care and I hope your week is full of joy and more pleasant surprises in the clothes department! :jump:

P.S. How did you come by 'Kezzypear'? It's a sweet name!

Hey thanks for the post!!

Don't have time to reply properly now- I've been working out and it looks like it is going to make me late for work lol!!

But kezzypear, well I think its quite a silly name, but my name lends itself to Kez and Kezzy, which is my nickname amongst close family, and pear, because, well, I am pear shaped!!!

Deficit = 2045-3480 = 1435

Verdict

Exercise and deficit are amazing!!! Though I have a hard time saying its a great day, as I ate 2000 cals!!! But realistically, I needed those calories!!
(Though it would have been preferable if fewer of them came from 'bad' foods I guess  ) I think my body would have struggled to handle a 2000cal deficit!

It looks like you found a nice way to deal with the supper issue there. :)

Congratulations on another good week kez. You make your program look really doable. :)

BTW kez is sometimes a nickname for me in RL too - kez or kezza, not kezzy. I always thought the pear bit of your name was the delicious, healthy sweetness of a pear.

Yeah and I wasn't even hungry yesterday! And much less stressed (customers are less drunk, therefore less abusive, on a Sunday!)

Goals for today

1) Walk 30 mins
2) Swim 22 lengths in 40 mins (up by 2 lengths from last time!) This may be a struggle as my arms and shoulders are already aching from boxing yesterday, but I'll give it a bloody good shot! Even if it takes longer.
3) Stick to 1700 cals (This should give me a deficit of well over 1000, and be enough to stop me feeling hungry)
4) Drink 2L water

I'm glad for your good day yesterday. Are you still working in a supermarket? With drunk customers on Saturdays?

Good luck with those magic looking goals. :)

Great Exercise Goals!! Let us know how they go! I like the water one too! I need to start setting water goals - in fact, you've inspired me to go do that now! :jump:

I love how you're varying your program. Keep that body guessing so that it doesn't get too comfortable. Great job on all that exercise.
