Kez tries again!!!

Oh my god. So, it HAS been a month. A whole month of posting in here (almost) every day, a whole month of meticulously recording EVERYTHING I put in my mouth, a whole month of making time for exercise even during my busiest exam period, and depriving myself of all that chocolate etc that usually helps me get through those stressful times! It has been a whole month of this crap, and apart from a very few exceptions (including the last few days) I have been ABSOLUTELY good and healthy, and for what?

I weigh EXACTLY the same today as I did this time last month. :mad: :cry:

I struggle to see the point, I really do! It seems my body is determined to weigh exactly the same whether I eat what I want, or attempt to be healthy. I can't even call it a plateau as I haven't even STARTED losing again! :cry:

Hey Beautiful Kez! Relax! You did the right thing, you could very well be retaining water or a number of things. Your body can only defy the laws of thermodynamics for so long. KEEP IT UP and you may find your weight drop significantly all of a sudden. And good going getting rid of the scale. If you want to share frustration in weight plateaus, may I suggest visiting Tom--he's very sweet and would be great support.

Hi Kez!! How's it going Ms Lovely! I agree with curves about your plateau. Hang in there, it gets frustrating I KNOW!! I worked out so hard at the gym just about everyday for weeks, and saw NOTHING. Then bam 4 pounds down in just days. I believe our bodies jack with us in a big way, and they try their best to stay the way they are until it (your body) can't take it anymore and gives in. Your body is struggling within itself, and doesn't want to let go, just give it a little more time, maybe change up your food a little, don't stop eating or deprive yourself, that's not what I'm suggesting. Maybe incorporate a little more protein and less carbs, or a little less carbs and more fresh fruit. See if shaking up your eating plan a little does the trick. Your body doesn't want to give in, but it will, it's just hoping you give in before it does, SO DON'T GIVE UP!! I'm sure you will be seeing something and soon. Are you drinking a LOT of water through the day?? Maybe up your water intake instead of changing the food and see if that works out. Let me know what happens. I'm here for you!

Muesli with milk and apple 250

Total calorie intake = 1576

Calorie deficit = 1576 - 2500 (work day, plus 30 min walk) = -924

Verdict

Great!

Goals for tomorrow

1) Max 1500 cals. STICK TO THIS!!! Cals have been a tad on the high side recently I think.
2) Drink 2L water before work
3) Go to gym at least 1 hour, and really push myself on everything again!! See if I can up any speeds and reps etc. Oooh, I'll do week 3 session 3 couch to 5k on a steeper incline!!
4) 5 portions fruit and veg

Just saw this and wanted to say if you don't know that if you hit the preview button just scroll down and the post is still there and you can change it and submit it still ;)
The problem is that I post on another forum where the submit and preview buttons are in reverse order, and that sometimes I just zoom on without noticing what I've done. Still I have no idea how I managed not to hit your diary this past few days. I must have felt in touch and been relying on your posts in MY diary - dumb move on my part. I see plenty has been going on here too.

I like your latest goals. They make good sense. I'm sorry your scales were frustrating you, but I absolutely love that you have made it to one month and kept going despite the scales and that your goals enable you to do that.

Your travel plans must be very exciting right now. Do you have a start date?
 
I like your goals, especially the 5 servings of fruits and veggies. But remember, 1500 cals is quite low. It might not sound like it, but it really is low. So never beat yourself up for accidentally eating 1600 cals. I promise it won't hurt you, especially when you're exercising as well as you have been. :) You don't want your body to grow too accustomed to low calorie intake. That happened to me before and it was a real pain in the ass to try and fix it! Oi...

Thanks! I'm glad I am keeping going too. I feel like throwing out the scales was a good move- quite liberating!! It's impossible for me to get frustrated and disheartened with my lack of weight loss if I don't know what I weigh!!

Start date is 17th September. We're going around the world for a whole 12 months!! It is SO exciting I can't quite believe that we're really doing it, and I know that the next 3.5 months are going to go SO quickly and before I know it we'll be on that plane aaargh!!!!!!! :jump:

Mmm thanks hon. I know 1600 cals yesterday was fine. But on too many days recently I have been up between 1800-2000. Even though I've been exercising and working so I still have a decent deficit, I feel the fact that I haven't been losing weight on what I've been doing means I gotta change something!! And I sure as hell haven't been eating too much :rolleyes:

Yeah, so I haven't lost weight this month, but I HAVE lost inches!!!! Check this out...

Measurements 1 month ago:
Bust:37.5ins
Waist (thinest part, relaxed): 31ins
Hips (widest part): 41.5ins
Thigh (m relaxed): 23.5ins
Calf (widest part): 17ins
Upper Arm: 11.5ins
Neck: 13ins
Wrist: 6ins

Measurements today:
Bust:36ins (-1.5ins)
Waist (thinest part, relaxed): 30ins (-1 inch)
Hips (widest part): 40.5ins (-1inch)
Thigh (m relaxed): 23ins (-0.5ins)
Calf (widest part): 16.5ins (-0.5ins)
Upper Arm: 11.5ins
Neck: 12.5ins (-0.5ins)
Wrist: 6ins

Total inches lost = 5!!!!!

That makes me feel better :jump:

(Though it would be even better if 1.5 of those inches wasn't from my boobs, I like my big round boobs lol!!!)

It's also good I get used to measuring my progress this way, coz when I'm travelling I won't be able to weigh myself regularly, but I can squeeze a tape measure into my backpack hee hee!!

As far as your weight loss (or lack there of) maybe you just hit a little plateau like Curves said. I plateau out every month if you know what I mean so I know you will figure this out and over come it. It sounds like you're all ready moving in the right direction, keep it up. :)

That's great about losing the inches!! I find that to be WAY more satisfying than losing weight because it means you actually have changed your appearance (I can lose 5 pounds and look the same, but inches? It feels better) So congrats!

It's nice that you have been able to get some numbers to add to your knowledge that your clothes are loser. Realistically, what you have been doing has to translate into slimmer and fitter. I think I have the A$ version of your 4 pound scales - good move getting rid of them. :)

Your trip looks amazing - lots of the really far flung in there!! Imagine sitting in that first plane seat! :D Well, I'm sure you do that already! :)

Sometimes I feel almost jelous of myself lol!! I find it hard to believe I am actually gonna do comething so huge!!! And so soon too!!

That's such a great way to look at it! :jump: I haven't really thought about it like that before. If I do, it sorta feels like I'm making excuses for not losing weight. But I know I am doing the right things which is why I don't want to stress about it!

Exercise

Gym 1 hour, walk 30 mins, work (shelf stacking and til!) 7 hours.

Total calorie expenditure = approx 3000 cals

Deficit = 1867 - 3000 = -1133

Verdict

Great deficit and lots of activity, but I feel my calories were too high, AGAIN!!! And all due to 3 BAD bits of food right at the end of the day!! Gotta try even harder...

(I reached my other 3 goals though :) )
