Kez tries again!!!

Even though im actually english, so it should really be strange, when i hear anyone talk about crumpets i always get the image of some upperclass gentry, or ladies of leisure sat on there lawn eating tea and crumpets, even though i eat crumpets and am not remotely posh.

.....*tumbleweed*.................

Sorry, random thought of mine there

Keep up the good work

Yay Kez, back on track!

You and I have about the same left to lose. And we're both hoping to make it into an outfit soon. :) I'm sure we can do this together!

Hi kezzy. You do have some interesting food in your diary. It's good to keep it varied.

I can relate to the difficulties of working in a place full of unhealthy food. Sometimes your options are limited aren't they? Did you see that America's Biggest Loser that just won at the end of last year? Wow was he working in a difficult environment for an overeater!!

Anyway good to see you're still working on this thing. :)

Crumpet, Im thinking is a bisquit or cookie or cracker of sorts.
No crumpets?! Ever? Like a pancake/hotcake, but as though it's been split through the centre, so the top is all holey and a different size - 6 inches in diameter x 1 inch tall. Very nice, but they sure soak up the toppings!!

Crumpet, mmmmmmmmm
i love those :D

Its like a english muffin only made with more water so has lots of wholes which absorb all the dripping buttery goodness and jam, syrup etc of your choice lovingly :D

Hey everyone thanks for all your posts!

Wow, didn't bank on the discussion the crumpet thing started!

Very true you gotta be careful or you end up using twice the butter oops!!

Hi kezzy. You do have some interesting food in your diary. It's good to keep it varied.
That's true I do like some wierd food sometimes, and some wierd combos of food!

I can relate to the difficulties of working in a place full of unhealthy food. Sometimes your options are limited aren't they? Did you see that America's Biggest Loser that just won at the end of last year? Wow was he working in a difficult environment for an overeater!!
Didn't see it  I work in a mini supermarket. So, to be honest there is healthy food as well as unhealthy, it's not as bad as when I worked in MacDonalds a few years ago!!! But (yeah, here come the excuses) I find it very boring and stressful and by the time I get my break, after five hours of standing at a till doing the same thing over and over again and taking abuse from grumpy customers who don't like queueing (it's the busiest store of it's kind in the UK), it is SO hard to make the right choices!!!

Sorry bout the way I've done the quotes by the way. I haven't worked out how to quote more than one person in one repoly, so I'm just putting [QU OTE] before and [/QU OTE] after so I know it doesn't say who said what but I'm sure you can figure it out!

Hi Kezzy! Hope things are going great for you!!
Thanks BGS!!!

Yay Kez, back on track!

Thanks Ashley! I sure do need all the help/encouragement/kicks up the backside I can get!!!

Lol this made me laugh!!!

Anyway, I've just got back from the gym, yay I kept my promise!! You know what? I've got over most of the embarrassment factor of going to the gym, after all I have been going for quite a while. I don't really care if people see me get sweaty/use something wrong/see my bum wobbling on the treadmill (eeew!) etc. But there is one thing that still gets me, is that I go REALLY red in the face when I exercise! I guess it's partly coz I'm not the fittest person in the world  and partly coz I have v pale skin. But I'm not just talking a little bit flushed in the cheeks, I'm talking BEETROOT red, and patchy and I get quite embarrassed esp when walking around, walking home form the gym etc. It is not enough to stop me going of course (although there was a time in my life where it probably would have been!) But it is a bit annoying!

I did a really hard workout today. I was determined to burn 500 calories, which probably takes me longer than it would the average gym-goer, and so I was adding up all the calories I'd burned (the machines tell you) as I went round, and at the end I was on 480 and shattered. And I was like NO I WILL do it all the way! So I jumped right back on the cross-trainer for 2 minutes just so I can put it down as a nice round number in my journal tonight! Anyway, I was kinda proud of that, little thing though it may be. Determination, one calorie at a time, yay!!! :)

Anyway, gonna get going now and visit a few of your diaries, and pay it forward!!

K

:)

Magic. I love it that you managed the extra 20 calories. :)

PS If you would like to multi-quote - up to you of course - just go the quotation mark in the bottom right hand corner of the post you are interested in. If you click on it, it will turn red. Do that to any posts that interest you. When you are ready click on "Post Reply" at the bottom right of the page or "quote" at the bottom right hand corner of the last post you want to quote. They will come up in a box in the order that you clicked on them. You can still move them around or edit parts of them there and can add your own comments. Have fun. :)

Ooohhhh!!!!! Thanks! I didn't know that either

Kez - you have every reason to be proud of that round 500 number! Your determination is contageous!!

I have always gone very red in the face too - blothy and it looks like my head is going to blow right off - it is what it is, it's gotten better since I've lost weight, but not a lot - I think the fair skin with freckles have something to do with it!

Welcome back Kezzy!! Congrats on going for that 500 - that's fantastic!!
I hear you on the beet red face thing. I get that too especially in the summer, very embarrassing. I actually have had family members ask, with great concern on their face... are you ok????... lol. They think I'm going to keel over with a heart attack or something.

Bad news

Hey everyone.

I got some really bad news last night (it's 11am here now). My brother is quite ill. He is suffering from severe clinical depression and is refusing meds. It is so bad that he and his wife are leaving their home (near me) to move back with my parents. I'm going to see him today, possibly for the last time til he goes back home.

I don't usually talk about non-diet related things on here, but I can't really talk to anyone else about this, coz it's kinda personal and distressing, so I thought I would take advantage of the annonymity offered on the internet to vent a little :(

It's so sad coz we're REALLY close and always have been. I have known for a while he has been suffering, I was the only one he confided in other than my sis-in-law, but although I have had others close to me suffer from depression I have never been this deeply involved. I can't pretend to understand as I have never been depressed. But I just want to know the best way to help him. I guess all I can do, and am doing, is be there for him.

K

Oh Kez, I'm so sorry about your brother. Why is he refusing his meds? Do they have side effects he doesn't like? I hope you two have a good visit today.

That news about your brother is very hard Kezzy. My sister-in-law was very ill with this at one time and it transformed her for a while, but she is back to being wonderful again now. I have no practical experience with these issues. "Just being there" sounds right to me. I googled these sites.

Thank you Dari and Felici!!

Well, we did have a good day. He went to the doctors today and he persuaded him to go back on the meds-yay!! And has also signed him off work for a month. I think work may have been a big part of the problem coz he was SO relieved he didn't have to go in anymore! It's hard to listen to some of the stuff he told me today. Suicidal thoughts, self harm, the lot. But today seemed to be a good day for him I think and I am just gonna continue to be there for him as much as he wants and needs me too. I now know he will come out the other side of this OK :)

As for my diet today, not great! I cooked lunch for me and bro, then we did go for a lovely walk so I got some exercise. But then we went to his house and he cooked. Mince and veg, nice, but then we binged on Roses. And when I say binged I mean A LOT!!! Bad, I know. The tin was sitting there open and... Well, no excuses. I am not too bad at resisting buying unhealthy stuff, but I am very bad at resisting eating it when it is sitting there tantalisingly in front of me!

I would like to pretend that I have no idea how many calories I have eaten today, but I still have most of the wrappers in my pocket so I actually have to work it out bleugh. Here goes!! (it's gonna be shocking)

Breakfast
Coffee 7
Crumpets, eggs 405

Lunch
Tea 29
Tortellini in veg sauce 440

Dinner
Tea 29
Mincey thing 350ish
Approx 20 roses chocs at approx 40cals each (according to website) 800
Ribena drink 50

Total calorie intake = 2110

Exercise
40 min walk Burns 170 cals

Total calories burned today = 2170

2110-2170 = -60

Verdict
Was not happy at the 800 number but very surprised and pleased that I still somehow managed (even though it is only just) to have a calorie deficit!!

Goals for tomorrow
Gym 1 hour
Walk 1 hour
5 pieces fruit and veg (v concious that I had very little fruit and veg today! Probably only 1-2 portions)
1200cal limit
Lots of water and herbal tea

Kez, I'm so glad that your brother is going to be taking the medication and that the two of you had a good day together - sometimes that's more important that you had more to eat then you planned!

You take care,

That sounds like an excellent result for your day. I'm so glad to hear about your brother. :)
