kelly's diary

Oh man a trip to the SPCA sounds fun & dangerous... I would want them all! :D

Glad you are back focusing on getting healthy. Good luck with this new plan. I agree, fiber helps!

Last night I was so full from my food that I stayed in bed all night. My mouthguard stayed in my mouth all night (no nighttime eating) AND I wasn't hungry at breakfast so I went for a walk for an hour. My headphones were acting up and it was really aggravating I have to replace them.

When I got back it was 10:30 and so I started my omelette by frying in a teaspoon of olive oil some broccoli, mushrooms and red pepper. Put that on a plate, then made an omelette with two eggs and 1/3 cup shredded cheese AND a tablespoon of ground flax for 2 more grams of fibre.

I also bought some good coffee and am drinking it black instead of with cream and sugar.

I am enjoying the changes.

My friend and I are going to look at dogs at the SPCA this afternoon. He is thinking of getting one and I know he is thinking I would like to be part owner/dog walker and so this could be fun, a little border collie.

I am in "fat" jeans (size 18).

Breakfast 433 calories.

Hey Kelly!
Just thought I would drop by and say hi!
You sound like you are doing well .. I take in as much fiber as I can and I do eat eggs myself in the morning, except when I feel the need to have cereal, which also has fiber

your doing wicked awesome hun!
way to go and happy to see you back and happy I stopped into your diary!
keep trecking hun

Man it takes a lot of doing to chew through 25 grams of vegetable fibre in a day.

Day 2 of induction, only eggs and chicken and salmon and vegetables today.

I'm gonna have to make some meatballs or something different. See nothing but salad and meat in my immediate future. Coffee, green tea.

Calories 1439 (no bread)
Fibre Up There 24 grams

Am less thrilled about my diet than yesterday - lack of variety, but I'll have to try some of the recipes in the cookbook for Phase 1.

I am eating way more volume wise and way less calorie wise.

Last night I stayed in bed all night, my mouthguard was in my mouth all night protecting my teeth in stead of on the kitchen counter, removed for midnight snacking. Big improvement in lifestyle. Its nice not having to get up in the night. Get a better rest.

WELCOME BACK....KELLEY!!!!!!!Also congrats on going
with the ground flax cuz I made the big mistake last year
of buying the oil and it taste EWWWWWWWWY lol!
Well have a nice Tues,Tammy

Welcome back Kelly!! I think you picked a good diet to go with, I've seen a lot of people succeed with it. Good luck to you and are you still taking your bike rides??? How's the weather?? what about the garden?

Had a cheat tonight. A & W Teen burger. 560 calories, only 2 grams of fibre.

Meanwhile, 2 tbsp of ground flax has twice the fibre of an entire greasy cheeseburger.

Oh well, I was stuck in town at a kids event and it was too far to drive home for supper, salad, of which I"ve had my fill lately.

Total calories for the day 1579.

On track to lose a pound a week.

67 minute walk today, 4 mph.

September 29

Its been several months since I"ve posted anything but I'm back because I DID IT - I finally started some strength training in a gym. I finally found some enjoyment in it instead of resisting it.

My weight is up but I'm starting over keeping an eye on calories, aiming for high fibre, 100 oz water. Vegan diet but will add eggs, a bit of salmon and tuna (yecch) and they are lower in calories than nuts, etc.

Its been so long i have to make some new friends here. Going to read some diaries.

I have made a great change for the past week or so. I'm getting out of bed at 7:45, having a drink of water and my breakfast and then getting to the gym at 8:30 for the mood lifting lights, and commaraderie. Before I was sitting on the couch drinking coffee until 11. (I went off coffee last week due to a cold).

I have always wanted to see if I could live without that addictive stuff.

So today in the gym I did 45 minutes on the treadmill alternating between 3 incline and maximum incline. My heart rate was between 100 and 160.

I rested as far as weights go today. Tongiht is vinyasa yoga.

Also I have added flax seed oil to my diet, about 2 tablespoons a day. It is known for easing weight loss. I googled weight loss and flax seed oil and got some convincing information. It definitely has a strong taste but i think its not bad on salad and okay in smoothie.

i have caught myself thinking negatively and I find I think like this 99% of the time. I think (about my diet and fitness efforts), "its not working" or "I'm a failure at this" (When really, I am exercising vigorously more than three times a week and my meals are excellent, fibre and all that) If I looked at it another way I would say to myself, "I'm doing a bang-on job. IT's working"

Trust the process Kelly :)
Caloric Defecit :)
Count your calories
Be more active
If your not patient work harder and more often
If you're patient then work out a moderate size caloric defecit but be accountable for it :)

Very good advice RJ.

Last time my weight loss goal was twenty pounds, which I achieved, but now I see it was not really enough. I still think 145 is a bit too optimistic, hope I learn a new way to think about that. Maybe this time I can reach 160? It took me four months to lose twenty, so maybe 8 months to lose fourty and that would make 10 - 12 months to lose fifty. Its a loftier goal but this time when I get down to 180 I'll see I still have more work to do and keep going.

I have to find the secret to maintaining weight loss.
