jzthedetermined's Journal

I just picked up three cheese pumpkins to make pumpkin cake tomorrow. I'll let you know how it comes out. I found a recipe for canned pumpkin cake. You cook the cake in a canning jar and then seal it and it stays good for "indefinitely" the recipe says. Sounds good, huh?

Sure... right after I lick the cheeseburger wrapper under my car seat that has been there for 6 months!!!

That was sweet Alta. I do cook/bake/grill fairly well if I do say so myself... do you happen to have the nutritional information for a serving of those real tastey sounding deserts?? :)
Yes, with a few alternatives to the original recipe....they aren't THAT BAD!

-Pumpkin canned NO SALT --about 120 cals, 1 gram of fat
- 1/2 the dosage of cream cheese--and LOW FAT---400 cals/ about 40 grams of fat  I know....:(...(gotta get the taste from somewhere though)!
-Egg Whites instead--80 cals for 4 eggs

--TOTALS about 600 cals w/ 40 grams of fat====DIVIDED INTO 4 desserts=

-150 cals each pie w/ 10 grams of fat. (not thaaat bad)

....I justify it when I think I'm gonna break and EAT A REAL pumpkin slice, or even worse,....like you said...my favorite....CHEESECAKE!!! I can deal with 10 grams of fat! :)

Just tried the wall sits. Yup, failed big time. Two minutes in thought, "no way" and gave up. I'll see about tomorrow. :D

Heya JZ. Good to see you still kicking ass! You are a MACHINE brother!

Had a go at the wall sit tonight LOL I lasted just over 8 minutes and I am going to PAY big time tomorrow morning :D I guess I need to build up over time to reach a total like 15 minutes!

Keep rocking!

This Past Weekend

Friday night - Played my second game of OLD MENS League Hockey. Lots of fun... havin' a blast playing wing!!! I scored one goal, but had a PLAY MAKER!!! That's 4 assists in a game! I LOVE being involved in hockey again!! Thinkin' about coaching my sons team???!?!? We'll see.
I ate chicken and broccoli for dinner following a golden day of eating!

Saturday - 30 Mile bike ride (Pulling from Cabbie here)... did not have my kiddos for 8 hours... what else is there to do???? ;) I ate a lot today... no worries... it was 90% Veggies. They tasted really good today for some reason!!!

Sunday - clean eating all day... and had a nice 6 mile hike through a state forrest with my kids.

A very good weekend.

JZ, sounds like a good healthy weekend....I am a rink rat too...I teach figure skating and was director of our rec program until last year. When my dtr grad from high school I decided to step down...I am still involved as an instructor but do not have the stress of being in charge.

I need to get my arse off the chair and get moving....my eating has been good but the couch potato workout isnt going to help me reach my goal.

What position do u play?

Hot Dam, JZ! Good week. I have a feeling Saturday's 30 mile ride might have had something to do with it. I gotta get my bike out. It's too lonely. :gnorsi:

Skating is a great workout... You know that... now like you said, GET MOVING!!

I play left wing in my OLD MENS League. I played many competative years as a defensemen until I got injured. Took some years off, coached my old HS Team for a few years in their infancy, then took more time off. I am really liking the new position though! :D I just love playing again! :)

Thanks Trops. It was a perfect day for riding! I got out there, and moved it!! I averaged between 15 and 18 miles per hour... 18 on the return trip due to the nice breeze at my back! I'm glad I got out... don't know how many more "bikeable" weekends left this year?!? I think I just made up a word :D

You know, JZ. I think you just gave me the motivation to get my bike out and get it all ready to ride. With any luck I can drag the wife out for a lunch time ride. Right now I'm deciding weather to go to the gym for a lift or hit the streets for a run. I think I'm leaning more towards the run.

Nice job on the 4 pound loss! :hurray: Sounds like you had a great weekend too! AND you made up a new word today too!! You're on a role! Lol! BTW coaching your sons team could be fun and would probably make for some good memories!

I know I am a great father... I think I was a great coach... whether or not the two worlds can come together... not to sure. I believe in hard love with my players... I guess I do with my kids too, but they have never gave me the reason to exhibit it with them! I would like to coach, but I don't want him to think I'm riding him harder than anyone else... I'll see what the future brings. I really support well by playing/practicing the activities my kids are into, buying them the training equipment or taking them to the batting cages, gymnastics, or empty fields if you will... Supportive, but not pushy. I think a good coach has to PUSH his/her athletes to get outside their comfort zones and do more, so maybe the two "roles" should not combine. Thanks for droppin' by Paula. I always appreciate you.

Congrats on the four lb loss. Keep it up!!!

Also, you have a great attitude when it comes to your kids. They are very lucky to have such a devoted father. I cant wait for my kids to start playing sports so I can coach. That is if they choose play.

Matt

Thanks Matt. I appreciate the good word!!
Still torn on whether or not to coach, or just be supportive and nurturing as a parent... I guess time will see.... although, My oldest is always wanting me to show him new "moves" or skills... I've got time so I'll have to really think about it.

Ditto! And I think there will be pros and cons either way. In the end, just do what works best for you (which I already know you will). :)
