Justina: Back to square one - very excited & determined to do this right

Great job on the gym, lady! My juicer game with a special little scrub brush...soooo useful! I wanted to juice yesterday too but was not hungry enough. I hate when that happens....I agree with Sarah on how real, whole foods are amazing for filling up on. I usually feel "good full" instead of :puke: full!

Hope you have a fantastic Sunday!!

An hour on the elliptical is super! I would die, I do 10 minutes on the treadmill and feel like I can't breathe. Well done Justina!

We were also stuck in the house this weekend cause the winds have been hectic the last 2 days. Hopefully this week it will calm down. Can't wait for summer!

Fab evening hun x

Sarah - Hey Sarah - thanks for the encouragement - I totally agree with you on the exercise - I am doing bare minimum - I don't feel excited or motivated much about my current circumstances (boring gym, DVD, no park around , etc) I do an hour every day - I wanna do more though - I wanna want to do more!! I hope it gets better, especially with the weather turning into spring (eventually!!!)

Camila - Sounds like your juicer company is a nicer one - well I can't complain the juicer was $35 & the toothbrush $1.5 :D Real food rocks!!! Love it - when very rarely we go out and pig out... doesn't happen often anymore - my husband swears that we shouldn't go out anymore...lol...and to be honest the less the temptation - if there were nice organic restaurants around - it would be so cool - because once in a while I don't want to cook - just wanna enjoy good food!! There is only 1 organic restaurant in this state.. just under 3 hour drive away - so we can't exactly hang out there every weekend...We will be moving soon - so excited about more choice!

Mands - hahah...elliptical - when i started it in Jan - i was gonna die after 10 mins... I can now probably do more than an hour...but too lazy...For me it's a good start to my workout life - good training. I wanna do classes again - but for that I need to up my fitness level. Elliptical helps a lot

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Very windy Sunday. Yet we spent quite a bit of time getting around today. & GYM too!! I did an hour on the treadmill - so I am pleased. Tomorrow I should defo do some weight training - I haven't done it for a while, so it's about time...

We ate out. Greek..Best restaurant here! Well one of the best. Small, family run, no hostesses...simple, authentic Greek food.
Well we couldn't finish all the food - brought it home - my lovely husband finished my portion - which I was pleased about - as much as I love the food - not the lightest food.

We did juicing too!! It felt soo good!

There's nothing else exciting to report...I might have something tomorrow.... i m nervous even thinking about it - butterflies...it's a good thing though...we shall see. It's regarding my great grandfather who was born here (then went back to Europe).

Food today:
B: Ezekiel bread jam & latte
S: Banana
L: Greek goodness
S: Pistachios, clementine
D: Juicing ( beetroot, carrot, celery, spinach, apple, clementine, orange, ginger)
WATER

Thanks Cory & Mystic!

---------------------

Today pretty eventful day. I am trying to reconnect a few family members here in the US. My great great grandfather immigrated here with my great great grandmother. But once they had a family they actually went back to Europe. If he was anything like me he had his heart in Europe. (I miss Europe so badly). Anyway. My great great grandmother's sister stayed here and had a really big family - thirteen children! I did reconnect with a few of my great great grandmothers' daughters like 15 years ago - but we lost contact. They are now in their 90s. I found one of them on white pages today & I called her. I was so nervous...She did not remember me. I was a bit upset. She said she had a stroke few years ago. In any case I was really happy that I talked to her - & I wrote her a letter, and included some photocopies of one of her letters and some photos (that she had sent to me previously) I really hope she gets back in touch with me. I would love that. She actually lives 3 hour drive away from where we are moving to this June - I would love to visit her & also check out the town where my great grandfather was born.

Food-wise...
B: Ezekiel toast + jam + latte
S: Banana
L: Omelet - mushroom/onion
S: PG tea & pistachios
D: juicing

E: Yoga (DVD)

Good for you for trying so hard to keep your family links connected! I have done the same, as half of my family is from Japan and half is British. I lost both my Dad and my Uncle (his brother) in 2012, so I no longer have a connection with anyone on that side of the family older than my generation. If someone (like you or me) doesn't make this effort now, much family information will be lost forever.

Well. for me, the relation is quite distant - but yet I feel close to it. Just remember all the stories my great grandma was telling me when I was a kid. I got so excited about the whole thing. I did all my research on websites, through relatives back home.
The older generation is more interested than the young one. There is a girl pretty much my age - we used to correspond (snail mail) in the 90s - I send her emails now - she never gets back to me - so disappointing. I don't think she is mean - just genuinely not interested, and she has a big family already (4kids) - that keep her busy :)

Justina - I applaud you efforts to reconnect with your family. That is really wonderful :) Even if it doesn't always work out, I still think it is pretty neat. And you never know when you'll spark a great connection with one of them.

Great job on your food today! I need to model my diet more after yours, hah. I do not have as much self-control as I would like yet.

Happy Monday to you :)

I think it's great that you're trying to reconnect with family. We can't just be a number on the scale or live our lives in the gym, you know?

An hour on the elliptical is crazy! Even when I was running for hours at a time I could never get into the elliptical... Just seemed impossible haha!!

Ooh what did you get at the Greek restaurant?? I've never been out for Greek before. Can't WAIT till we move, there's millions of different restaurants for us to check out over there (compared to the 5 in this whole entire town, lol)!

Good luck with tracking down your extended family! How did you even go about doing that? Lol I don't have any, I think this generation of my family will be the biggest (I have 2 sisters and a bro).

Hey Justina - great work on the 1 hour on the treadmill.... the more you do , the easier it will get ... good job.

I luv greek food too , 'souvlaki" ( I think that's the kebobs)...my favorite... the lemon roasted potatoes, the tzaziki(of course), ...and that spinach-filo stuff ( spinatakopita?)...although I'd guess with filo, likely pretty hi-cal.

...good work balancing the greek-food eating out with juice for supper ! great calorie control.

... so great you are seeking out some of your family connections, our families are our history, a part of who we are, helps give us a better sense of ourselves..

Hey Justina, I commend you in reaching out to family. I must be honest I have given up as I never got back what I put into the relationships with very close family. So now I just live my life and give to people or gives back. Hope that doesn't sound too screwed up but loooong story.

But I wish you all the luck and hopefully you get what you are looking for. Keep us updated how it went ok?

Thanks Camila! I don't know whether it works out or not - I hope it does. We used to send lots of letters (before internet) to each other back in the 90s. we didn't have the chance to meet then - now since I m on the same continent - it is a possibility!
Well self control is not always there for me either. I need to have low calorie/healthy snacks on hand...or I go crazy lol...
I wish I was more disciplined with exercise.

keep up the great work fellow cruisin for losin :)

Thanks Tasha! GO CRUSIN' FOR LOSIN'! :D

:) Totally! Thanks for stopping by.

Hey Lucy! haha..well for me it's one of the possibilities right now - I much prefer classes & doing sports outside - just not an option - I have to take what I can. Greek restaurant: We usually have gyros, hummus, pita, salad - they are yum!! i bet you are looking forward to trying the new restaurants when you move. I can't wait either (we are into organic - there is only one in our state - 3 hr drive away)
Tracking my family... I used the internet, heritage sites, ellis island records (NY entry) & my older generation of my family back home.

You listing all those yummy foods made me drool ahahahah :drool5: To be honest when you have a big meal - you don't really crave dinner - so juicing comes naturally! :D
Yep - family history is totally part of what we are! & missing information just makes it exciting - like a private detective lol!

Sounds like an eventful day, hope she remembers you when she gets the stuff you sent her!

Thanks Mystic - I hope so too. Fingers crossed.

Hey Mands I totally understand what you mean actually. I had some bad experiences. Just like you I only want to put into the relationships when I get back - and i practice that with close family members (cousins, aunts etc). Finding family here is different. It's like uncovering history! Something I have been wanting to do for a long time. I want to find answers to questions.

PIZZA PIZZA. Yes it's pizza day - I scheduled it mid-week so it won't have an impact on my weigh in day.

By the look of it, the scale is starting to move :hurray: ...it's about flippin' time!!!! I have been the same/gained weight in the last 2 weeks!!
OK, I am also disciplined with the exercise - shine or rain I am in the gym!

Yesterday I didn't end up doing yoga, instead I did another hour of elliptical in the gym...so yoga will be done today.

I also booked tickets to go to London ! :coolgleamA: So excited - spending a few days in Oxford, and a weekend in London - to catch up with all my friends and family (sister & boyfriend) - I lived nearly 10 years in the UK - so lots of memories & friends.

Food:
B: Ezekiel toast+honey + latte
S: --
L: Spinach-feta pizza
S: Banana, pistachios, tea
D: Juicing

I hope you have fun in the UK!

I hear you about wanting the scale to move. I stayed the same two weeks ago and gained last week. I definitely want to see something in the opposite direction. I think you and I have the same mentality when it comes to the exercise. :D

Yay, happy the scale is moving for you!!! :) That has got to be a fantastic feeling!! Props to you for being dedicated to the gym! I really need that to rub off on me haha.

That is fantastic about London as well. I have always wanted to go so count me as jealous. :) I hope that when you go that you have a fantastic time!

On a side note, I've noticed that you tend to juice at night. Not sure if you've covered this, but is there a reason you do so as opposed to morning? I've never thought about it truly, I just do it in the morning by default. Just curious!

Happy Tuesday to you!!

~Camila~
