Justina: Back to square one - very excited & determined to do this right

I was craving chocolate this evening too, but I didn't have any left so no chocolate for me either... however, that will be remedied tomorrow haha!

Apologize to your husband after you hit him with a rolling pin (the weapon of choice for disgruntled wives).

Reminds me of Young Frankenstein when he tells them that after he goes in, under no circumstances are they to open the door. He's in for three seconds and immediately starts screaming to be let out.

Good work on the willpower. :)

Hey Justina,
Give your sweet husband a big sloppy kiss for helping you along the journey...you may not like it at the time, but you will thank him for it when you've lost even more and are getting firmer and fitter! I suggest you try to make at least 1 thing you're doing now a lifestyle change and not just a diet...may help your cravings!

!!CHALLENGE ALERT!!
Anybody interested in entering a challenge here on WLF? we are about to finish a 10 week challenge in 3 groups - it's pretty cool & motivating. Check out the thread San started on the Challenges section. & just leave a post that you are interested. It's not all about how much you lose, we have separate challenges every week: e.g. eat 2 fruits you never had OR 30 squats every day - stuff like that.

Challenges can be really good for making new friends and really getting motivated to stay on track...

I currently have the link in my signature...

LOL People tend to get the bonus of me nagging them. :biggrinjester:

I'm still being good and having no chocolate too. No chocolate until Easter for both of us!!!

Hey Justina , good work on only 1.5lb up with TOM, that "up" is likely water-retention...so no worries, will be gone soon.

I laugh at your hubby keeping you on course.... mine too.... he had licorice the other day- I wined, he gave me only 1 piece & hid the rest.... they do luv us eh ??

good work on the chocolate resist , keep it rolling Justina !

cheers,
maryann ;)

Mystic - hahaha!! I want some chocolate tooo!!! 13 more days...this Lent is eternity...

MrVee - haha! too funny! I actually just got a rolling pin!!! & my willpower is running low - not a good combination!

Sarah - yup it is a lifestyle change - i know, you are right! Tough love is needed sometimes.

Camila - oh yeah - he is very sweet -shhh don't tell him, it might go to his head.

Omega - well done on the chocolate thing - I honestly find it really hard.

Maryann - Thanks. cant wait until the stubborn water retention is gone!!!!
Haha aren't our husbands just great?!

Don Keykong: Thanks for stopping by!!! I appreciate your support!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

After my brave MIA I am back!!! :) I was lurking around the page - reading stuff - but never actually posted over the weekend...so it took me some time to catch up on your diaries!

Weekend was AWESOME!! We had 83 F!!!!! That is 26 C - that's summmmmer!! BUT apparently we have snow in the 10 day forecast! WTF???
We cleaned the car, fed ducks by the lake, did recycling - very chilled out!!

Anyway - foodwise it was okay...hmmm - we went out to a Mexican restaurant - a new one - it was AMAZING!!! Like the best frozen margarita I had in a while. & the portion sizes were good (not massive - just enough) And I thought I could ate out considering that we ONLY had fresh veggie juice for dinner.

Scale is still super mean to me :angelsad2: - water retention is still there.... so I have to wait this out.
I did some light exercise - nothing hard core...soo boohoo at me...I tried to keep active though.

This week we are doing a course with my husband so I made lunch in advance yesterday - quinoa taboulah salad!!! It takes some time to make it - like up to an hour - but then it's good for 2 days !! so i didn't have to cook today & we have lunch for tomorrow too. yay!

Confession - starbucks addiction...to be honest it's not even starbucks it's more like frozen frappuccino...and I am not proud how much we spend there - when there is a perfectly healthier cheap alternative I could make at home! So I want to cut down on that. The only "fast food" place we go to - but still - I would like to minimize spending/consuming there.

Today I had
B: Ezekiel toast-jam & latte
L: Quinoa Tabulah salad + pecan + pretzel for snacks
S: Frappucino & a piece of cinnamon roll (without frosting) :blush5:
D: Ezekiel toast with black forest ham & fresh veggie juice

Hey Justina - good work behaving on the Mexican eating out , and good plan to balance those calories with juice for supper that nite... ;)

83F/23c is sure sounding good - we have sunshine here today-but still -10c & snowstorm forecast for Thurs...sheesh...this xtra-long winter this year is really putting a damper on my outside walks....

I luv Quinoa Tabulah salad - so healthy with all that parsley.... great healthy high-fibre way to fill-up.

Beware the S.Bucks frozen drinks...sugaaaarrr .....caloriezzzzz....and $$$$$ ........maybe set yourself a budget of one/week as a "treat"....but no more.... ??

we luv our TimH's up here...but I stick to either just a medium coffee with cream , or a no-sugar latte... and as we only get into the city maybe once a week...it's only a once-weekly treat ....

...hope your stubborn water-weight on the scale goes away soon ,
cheers gal,
maryann :)

That sounds like a nice weekend! Where are you?? I want 83 degrees! I sat in 50 degree temps watching my daughter play soccer... and oh, by the way, I get COLD now with 50+ pounds off! I'm still fat and well insulated, but I think my metabolism is slowing, 'cause I never used to get cold and now I do.

The quinoa tabbouleh salad sounds awesome....someday, someday.

You're so lucky for the warm weather. We were at -10 this weekend with snow. Brr. Don't worry about the water weight, it'll go away real quick. I'm was about a pound heavier this morning then I was on my official weigh in on friday cause of water weight.

Justina, I hear you about the weather. On Sunday it was 70 degrees, then I got up yesterday morning and everything was covered in snow and ice. March can just go to hell.

Yeah the weather can be so unpredictable. The other day it was 77 degrees and mostly sunny, but today it's going to be 80 and sunny. These wild swings are tough to handle, but I'll manage. :D

Maryann - I hope I have balanced it right - we shall see soon! The weather is good - still not looking forward to more snow - trees are finally in bloom! I can't believe you guys still have -10 up there! brrrr. I prefer tabulah with bulghur...but quinoa is meant to be healthier and protein and all that - it was actually really similar!!
Yep S.bucks... no good for me or my wallet..especially after reading upon their ingredients...not so much for kcal ( i m getting the light version - so it's like 100kcal) that bothers me - but all the artificial stuff & HFCS... so i have found a healthier version!
I don't think i have been to a TimH's - there arent any around where i live.

Don - in Arkansas (for another 3 months until we move) HAHA you made me giggle with the whole "insulated" story! So true though - once you start losing weight - other things are starting to change. You should defo try tabulah when you are allowed!! It's good!

Mystic - weather is getting better - I love spring here - summer is killing hot though & HUMID- we won't be here for that this year - moving (plus mainly spend summer in Europe)

Cory - AGREED!! March can just go to hell!

MrVee - OH SHISHH!!! Show off!! :D

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

So I skipped the course today (it's not obligatory - only for my husband) & instead I was doing nothing exciting - I even had lunch prepared already in the fridge - yup - pretty unproductive day - unless you count that i updated my profile on linked in & started to search for jobs...it's a bit pre-mature since I won't be able to move until June - and we won't be back from Europe until mid August...so...you see ..but then again you never know - something could come up: a great opportunity - :coolgleamA: One can dream!

Foodwise I did pretty well....
I still had starbucks - and even though it's low in calories - I am not happy with the ingredients...I need to find a suitable "substitute" for it - for my snacking needs....i usually would have a piece of dark chocolate - but i m not allowed right now.....
Also I found a possible alternative for the actual frappucino - but one of the ingredient is cacao....

I can't wait until this Lent is over.

Food:
B: Ezekiel bread +jam+latte
S: Banana
L: Quinoa tabulah + tall caramel frappuccino light :blush5:
S: Dried mango + ezekiel toast with honey
D: Fresh veggie juice!!! (including parsley this time!!!)

I love unproductive days sometimes, though I tend to have way too many of them!
Easter is almost here, only a little longer till you can have chocolate again!

Hey Justina, I joined the challenge you suggested!! Haha my first in all the time I've been here. Hopefully it'll inspire me to get going!!

I'm moving in June too... But still I spent 5 hours last night scoping out jobs around the area we plan to live and looking at rental houses haha!!! I'm too excited to get out of here!!!!!

I know what you mean about not liking ingredients. There's stuff I used to love (that I would probably still enjoy the taste of), but I'm not willing to eat them because of what's in them. I'm working so hard to make myself healthy, why should I put shit into my body?

The only sweets I eat anymore are things I make myself, or this one brand of ice cream that comes from a local dairy. You can read, pronounce, and purchase every ingredient on the label.

Hellooo Justina :) Sorry I have been missing. Girl you have such willpower! I need to learn that because chocolate cravings can be intense.

Also, I've been meaning to ask you, what kind of juicer do you have? I wish that I had done some more research before getting mine. I got a Cuisinart on sale. It is a centrifugal juicer...if I had done my research I would have learned that centrifugal juicers are not idea for juicing leafy greens. But I have been doing some reading and studying up on techniques to juice leafy greens in my juicer. But I think that is why my juices always taste so sweet to me.

:) Hope you are having a great day!

~Camila~

Hey Justina - good work on the "fairly healthY" eats ... and no worries on the odd s.bucks treat...sounds like U are picking lower-cal options, so as long as it's not everyday...no biggie...
TimHorton's is only in Canada (I think)...they are less $$ than S.bucks... but hey...coffee is coffee.... it's a nice treat , it perks you up & not too bad for ya ...as long it's not with too much sugar, artificial flavorings etc.
.R U starting to get a bit excited on your move? ...new "beginnings" are always so fun... :) ... once U get thru the "work" of the packing & the actual move...

Mystic - unproductive days roooock! :) I will never give up chocolate again for Lent - I'll probably give up some chocolate like anything under 75% cacao content - I can deal with that!

Lucy - yay for the challenge - so happy you joined!! We are both moving in June & from a place we dislike!! :hurray: I can't wait either!

Cory - "You can read, pronounce, and purchase every ingredient on the label." This is normally our principle - which you can totally do when you shop for yourself - but when you eat out, different story! We still allow the occasional treat - but Starbucks has become a daily once.... Once we get to Easter - I will defo stop it -i think it's probably worse than eating good quality chocolate...

Camila - hey sweetie thanks for stopping by - I know you were feeling poorly. we have a black&decker -it was one of the cheapest (~$35) - it's working perfectly fine. We did say that when it breaks down we probably buy a more expensive one - since we use it daily - it would be a nice investment. We have been using it almost every day since October - and it's working perfectly - I'll send you an email with some resources about juicers.

Maryann - haha - i already replied about TimHorton on your thread...I forgot you mentioned it here. :) you are right about the $$ with Starbucks... once I can have chocolate again - i ll fare better - i love high % chocolate - just a small piece :)
As for the moving - I am beyond excited. I haven't been happy here - but we didn't have choice about it. So I look forward to the move!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So i was a bit more active today & I even made it to the gym! HIP-HIP HooRay! :hurray:
I did not weigh in this morning - was too scared - I will do it tomorrow.

Today I made my husband's anniversary gift!! It is so cute & it only cost me like $10 & it's very personalized!! - I am so happy with it - I wanted to give it to him this afternoon (that's how excited I am - I wanna see his face when he sees it)
I had to stop myself though....18 more days to go!! HAHA!

Confession: I have given up my coursera course. Human Physiology with Duke University. It was insanely hard for me even though I had some knowledge of Biology & Chemistry from high school - it was not advanced enough. Especially the Chemistry bit.
So I have signed up for another one: Statistics... I should do better - i actually did a course when I was at uni - it just needs refreshing.

Food today
B: Ezekiel bread + jam + latte
S: Banana
L: Ham & cheese sandwich + frappucino light :blush5:
S: Ezekiel bread with ham and cheese
D: Fresh veggie juice - it was heavenly!

E: 1 hr elliptical
