Justina: Back to square one - very excited & determined to do this right

I hope that tornado doesn't come and you are ok. I just bought a couple of exercise DVDs, the first ones I've bought, and I'm excited to try them out. Let me know if you like any of the ones you borrowed.

Hey you guys!! thanks so much for your support :grouphug:

Tornado was touching down NW of the state - left us alone for now - phew. All we got was a massive storm & loads of rain.
Rain stopped. Strong wind remains!

The cold spanish tomatoe soup looks interesting- bit like pureed brushetta- tried a few tapas years ago on a spain/france trip... & starting to see some on menus here in Canada..maybe they are catching on over here...?...will keep my eye open for them..as a lot of them sound fairly healthy....

I love variety in my food. In fact I had my own mini challenge: to eat something different every day for a month for lunch. I put some planning into it - I think it's really working. It is soooo easy to fall into a pattern just eat the same thing week in and week out.
The Spanish tomato soup that is the most popular is gazpacho - it is really healthy - but I am not a big fan - I prefer salmorejo for its taste and texture.

-------------------------------------------------------

Yesterday I did the stretching DVD - was not too impressed. Fair enough it was beginner's guide - so I am obviously not beginner. Lol. Nevertheless I made it though & I was happy with the results.
Today I have the car - so I might - just might double my efforts as far as exercise goes.
I might try the other DVD this afternoon - now that I have the time...and then I go to the gym in the evening. Well, I'll see how I feel.

Food today:
B: Ezekiel bread + strawberry jam - herbal coffee
S: Coconut bar
L: My absolute favorite: Pasta with pesto rosso, olives & tuna
S: Blueberries & pecan nuts
D: Greek salad

THANK YOU GUYS FOR THE SUPPORT!! YOU ROCK! :coolgleamA::smash::sifone::grouphug::party:

Yeah, I was fairly proud of myself yesterday for making it to the gym.
Gosh, I hate those mirrors in the gym! Ugh!!! I better just concentrate on the tv screen in front of me. & I was watching Food Network!! How about that? Lol! I used to watch this kind of show back in the UK - The dinner guests - not sure what it's really called. In any case it kept me on the eliptical for 65 mins.
I am going back today again, dragging my husband with me this time.

Other than that I have enrolled in a course.
I recommend this site to anyone with time to spare - I know most of you are super busy (and don't I just wish I could be too?)
But in any case, this site offers many free courses from top universities. Coursera.org They don't all give you a certificate. The one I chose does. It's called Introductory Human Physiology. It's technically a med school foundation course. I have always been interested in this - especially recently. I do like to concentrate on alternative (harmless) solutions. I would love to learn the basics. This will keep me busy for 12 weeks.

Food today - slight change in the plan. I was supposed to make lentil soup, but I forgot to soak the lentils last night. So, Plan B: Greek pasta salad. Not too good - pasta 2 days in a row, but oh well.

Here is the menu for the day:
B: Ezekiel toast + sour cherry jam + herbal coffee
S: Small piece of dark choco
L: Greek pasta salad
S: Blueberries, maybe a banana
D: Sauerkraut soup (i really have grown to appreciate this)

E: Gym...

Great work on 65mins on the eliptical- that's lots of calories burned Justina !

Greek pasta salad sounds yum....care to share your reciped?..

have a good one,
Maryann :)

Speaking of mirrors in the gym, I can see myself in the windows of my gym while I run on the treadmill. My legs do all sorts of crazy when I run. I run like a complete weirdo! It's a little embarrassing.

Good job getting to the gym and draging the hubby along. I still haven't gotten my wife to the gym or on the bike. :(

Mystic: You need to watch Friends season 6 episode 7. It will make you feel better about your odd running style. Or search youtube for "Phoebe running style".

Not 'Come Dine With Me' by any chance?

Congrats on enrolling in the course, sounds very interesting..always good to workout the mind aswell as the body :)

Today i have been feeling really low. a lot of things have been going on since last night..something really emotional & exhausting & possible impact on our future. I didn't get to go to bed until 2am and I didn't fall asleep until 6, and I slept a short hour. I am absolutely knackered.
I really don't want to/can't go into details.
I couldn't even think about food, let alone eat anything.
Anyway i forced myself to eat/drink something:
kombucha (bottle)
burnt garlic bread
bowl of blueberries
herbal tea.
I know it's unhealthy - but hey, it was one of those days. Tomorrow I m determined to eat properly and get my fruit/veg in! I don't want my body to go into a "starvation mode" & stop the weight loss.
I did not do any exercise either.
By the end of today things seem to be improving - and I might even say that yesterday's happenings could work for our advantage. It's too early to say. I am trying to think positive. We shall see how events unfold next week.

Good news: I lost 4.5 lbs this week. I am now 259. (total loss of 14 since Jan 9) I m really pleased with it! :coolgleamA:

Hehehe I used to run at the gym too, however the treadmills were facing AWAY from the mirrors (thankfully lol). I like the mirrors, you kind of need them to check your form when doing heavy lifts. Makes life easier!! Wish I could get Ash to exercise with me here, he came to a few spin classes with me when we were gym members back home (and he loved them) but he won't just do a workout because I am! He so needs to, he does so much lifting at work with improper form and I swear he's going to hurt himself one of these days. He already gets back pain (boys can be so silly!)

Food looks good, I haven't had sauerkraut in forever!
