Justina: Back to square one - very excited & determined to do this right

Great job at the buffet! Those are dangerous to me. Even if I think I'm doing well, I end up eating too much of it.
by the way, do you like raw fish? If so, just order sashimi... no rice. That, tofu soup, and pickled veggies are good in Japanese restaurants.

Yup - I am good with raw fish. I ll try it - thanks!! :)
I used to be out of control at buffet type of lunches/dinners. i am so happy i managed to tone it down!

Awesome! I'm happy for you both. Good job on the food and exercise too!

Thanks!! & Thanks!! :D

Glad you're feeling better!

Thanks Mystic!

Good job on eating healthy and passing up the second helpings!

Thanks! I m really proud of me!

-------------------------------------------------------

Today was sooo tiring (again). New schedule - up at 6am! It was hard to go to bed at 10pm last night - I m not used to it - takes some time to adjust.
Plus running errands all day. At the moment it seems like we are surrounded by adversity. But we got so lucky with some really nice people today who went out of their ways to help us. Still a lot left to resolve...
Also I got some good news from a friend - so pretty positive day :)

Foodwise not so good - but I guess not so bad either.
Does potato pass as vegetable? apparently fries are vegetable (according to the FDA in Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution)
I had one of my fave dish today....this is such a foreign concept for most people (and I can see why) - but it is soo deelish!!
It basically has 4 main ingredients: potato, german pasta, onion & paprika. Yumyum!

So here today's menu:
B: Banana - still struggling to get it down..
S: Celery
L: Potato/pasta dish
S: Leftover potato/pasta dish
D: Anchovies - fruit :)

I have totally overdone the carbs today....uffff - but it's safe to say that my appetite is exactly where it was a week ago - yay! it's back!

E: Walking!!! I need to step it up already!

A potato is a root vegetable. Therefore it is _exactly_ the same as eating Brussels sprouts except without the gag reflex (and the vitamins).

Anyway, that potato dish actually sounds very awesome and I would like some. Recipes anywhere?

So you've listed anchovies a couple times in your diet and I have to ask. Are these the salty canned anchovies? If so you are getting hammered with the sodium and also yuck. I'm hoping they are kippered, smoked or you are cooking them.

Yeah, yeah :D I love potatoes... during diet I usually restrict them - but i have been craving this dish for a while.
All right - here is a recipe:
For pasta I usually buy German pasta (from kroger - at their international section) - it's a really light/thinner than Italian pasta (only has 2 ingredients). I also precook the potatoes for 10 mins before I add them to the onion.

Haha! Nope, I am not having the canned one. They are super salty, I agree. I use the marinated version. They are popular "tapas" in Spain. I.e. Small dishes (so you can order like 4-5 types of food at once - they come in small portions)

Hungarian food! My grandmother would be so proud! Alright I'm all over this since I'm not really a big fan of the stuffed cabbage, and goulash is okay but not my favorite either. I can now unleash my inner Hungarian!

Thanks for the recipe.

Believe it or not I've had Tapas, but never anchovies. Now that I think of it the Tapas bar I went to had anchovies, but I was a vegetarian at the time so I had nuts, fried potatoes, and cheeses. I was just picturing you eating those mushy salt crusted canned ones which is all they sell here and that was gross. I imagine that marinated they are similar to herring, which I love.

Update: I looked up the Tapas bar I went to and they had two types of boquerones. Too bad I won't be in Ballard, WA anytime soon, or I'd try them both.

I sure WISH I could get fresh anchovies (not the bait variety) around here at a fair price. I love them. I can get fresh herring, but I've never acquired a taste, other than the pickled type. Quercus, if you're talking about Ocho, we need to meet there someday after we've achieved our goals... there's also a decent Tapas bar in Portland, OR, if that's closer. ;)

OMG i love stuffed cabbage! Yumyum! Hungarian food IS amazing - but not renowned for being the healthiest :(
Let me know if you try this.

I wasn't sure whether you had tapas or not. Boquerones are great! I used to hate them, I think they are one of those things you have to acquire a taste for. & yes, they are similar to herring. :D - Actually, i think they sell them on amazon too. We buy it in a local store though.

Amazon has a bunch of them. What's a good brand?

i tried fresh boquerones once or twice - in a fisher village - I didn't eat them raw - they fried them on open fire. They are really good!! Here I have the pickled version.

We buy the Fruits de Mer - I never got them from amazon though - I think they do have that brand.
PS/ Just checked on amazon - they are ridiculously pricey!!!! at least 5 times more than what we pay for it. Plus they dont have the pickled version.

Today was not so good. I spent too much time online and too little working out. I was grumpy - was woken up at 6am again - i really need to get used to this..for the time being. Then it was really stormy and i was not out today. No car.

I cooked one of my absolute all time favorite: Hungarian chicken stew with dumplings. So good! :drool5:

Exercise: just did 30 mins... I really was not in a good mood.

B: Banana
L: chicken stew & dumplings
S: Peach (defrosted)
D: Salad

Mmm, I LOVE dumplings and stew. Haven't had it in years! Gotta bug my mom for it, haha. 30 mins of exercise is great!

At least you exercised! So many times we let a bad day or a bad mood keep us from exercise. In my book you get a virtual medal for fighting through it....Kudos!
