Just a little bit more to go ...

Nothing exciting to report today. I left my gym clothes at home this morning (argh) and it's pouring rain out, so no workout for me today.

I've promised myself tonight that I'll spend 30 mins on my filing. I have stack of paperwork that is threatening to take over the corner of my office if I don't get to it. I also have several bags of things from the linen closet that I need to get to the local shelter. I think that'll be my weekend project - to get it all dropped off.

Last House on the Left. Holy insane amount of graphic violence, Batman! Good movie, but .. yowza! Hammer-fu, disposal-fu, microwave-fu, gun-fu ... Joe Bob would be proud.

Time for bed now. Tomorrow I tackle the laundry and try to make a bit of a dent in the filing.

this movie made me sick to my stomach!!!! phew. Very super awkward 15 minute rape scene... thats for sure!

I ran at lunch today and then had tuna salad for lunch. I think it's going to be a light supper - I'll probably scramble some eggs and throw in some spinach and mushrooms or something like that. Of course I have to go grocery shopping first - hard to make anything with an empty fridge and pantry.

It's a gray, rainy day here and I actually love this kind of weather - I'm hoping it'll help me sleep well tonight. It's so easy for me to fall asleep to the sound of the rain.

Hey Kara! Where've you been??! i usually see your name everywhere -and pop in to read ur posts- but now you're no where to be found!

i know you had mentioned something about court, hope everything is going smoothly - or as smooth as can be...

Come back kara ! :(

I have a question for you...is it possible since when I started (over a month and a half) I have gained any muscle? I have been doing the wii fit strength training, which consists of 6 push ups/side plank combo's, 3 times, 30 lunges, 60 jack knives, torso twists for flexability and other strength training for my abs. I remember when I went to the gym for 5 months or so I gained about 15 lbs of muscle. I am already seeing some definition under my arms slightly which I had while I was at the gym several years ago. I remember hearing you say that you can't gain muscle in a calorie deficient..so I'm a bit confused on what has happened. I also drink a protein shake after every workout strength training which has 22 grams of protein, I take a rest day between each workout.

I'm here. I've posted at least a dozen posts every day. :) You must not be reading the same boards.

As far as your muscle growth, it's kinda hard to say w/out knowing your bodyfat / lean muscle percentages. However, it's highly unlikely that you've built much muscle while in a calorie deficit. It's far more likely that you are losing more body fat, so the muscles are showing more.

I'm actually interested in what you said about going to the gym for 5 months and gaining 15lbs of muscle. By my understanding, that's next to impossible. Gaining muscle is a very slow process. From everything I've read, a rate of 1/2 pound of weight gain per week is excellent, assuming you're busting your ass, and even then, keep in mind that a percentage of that will be fat - you never gain just muscle, just as you never lose just fat.

It was about 5 months - 6 months. I went to the gym 4 times a week, 30 minutes of strength training using weights for 6 months. I had a personal trainer, we used a body fat/muscle calculator of sorts to determine if I had gained any muscle. According to that, I did, of course after that had happened I stopped doing jenny craig and gained back all the weight plus 20 more lbs.

Oh I got such good news from my lawyer today! :D Nothing definitive, but just seeing the paperwork has given me reason to smile and be hopeful.

Nothing much other than that going on. It is raining buckets here and we're under flood watches all over the place. Got sent home from work early today because of the flooding and road conditions. Have to call in tomorrow morning to see if the office is going to be open (I suspect it will be).

Hope everyone else is doing well today. :)

Congratualtions on getting the good news :)

Thanks NR. ;)

Today is going to be a looooong day. We have an "all hands" meeting at work starting at 1, followed by a "team building" thing that starts at 5 and will probably go until 9. Of course that means catered in meals, and pizza and drinks after at the social event.

Tomorrow we have to all pack our desks so they can rearrange our offices and build out new cubes over the weekend. Then Friday I have to be downtown in court at 8 a.m. Bleah. But hopefully it'll work in my favor (I'm feeling positive about it!).

I'm staying on track. Ran for 30 mins yesterday - I set the incline higher than I usually do and I can feel it in my hips. That's a good thing.

I'm still bouncing around the high 160s - 167, 168, 169. I'm sure a lot of it is stress related. I'm drinking a lot of water and staying away from the vodka martini's at night (much as I'd like one - or three! :) ).

Hope everyone else is having a good week and staying on track!

Back to weights today - for real, rather than the "lite" version that I've been doing with a friend. I am going to be sore tomorrow, but it feels SO good to get back into the swing of it.

Not much else. It's going to be a busy week at work and I'm determined to make it to the gym every day this week, regardless.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

This week has been a good week so far. I've been right on track with my calories and my macros and I've been to the gym every day. I think I overdid it a bit on the squats and lunges on Monday though. I ramped up the weight on *both* and that was a mistake. My thighs and glutes are pretty darned sore still. I haven't felt like this in a while. *grump*

Today I'm going to bench press, row, overhead press, and back extensions and then just hit 30 mins of nice, medium intensity, ss cardio on the elliptical. My legs won't take much else. :) But I still feel the need to stretch them and get the blood flowing a bit.

Dinner tonight is going to be grilled shrimp and a huge spinach salad. I had a small Schlotzky's sandwich for lunch today - actually well within my calorie level, but my god the sodium. I suspect the scale is going to reflect that tomorrow.

I guess that's it. All quiet on the western front, as the saying goes. Which is good - I'm about tired of drama. :)

Hanging in so far. My weight has stayed the same, but my jeans are looser - so I know something is going on. I think I'm retaining some fluid from ramping up the weight lifting again. I've been sore for a week - all over. Not *bad* sore, but stretchy, worked-hard sore which feels so good again.

What's frustrating is realizing that for some things I'm almost starting over - I'm going to have to cut back by about 1/2, the amount of weight I carry for lunges, for example. I know I'll get back to where I was quickly, but it's a hard lesson to learn.

Today is my "free" day. I had southwestern eggrolls (the baked, homemade variety) for breakfast, and I think we'll go get a burger for lunch.

Not much going on. I have to HAVE TO get my house in order. The mess and clutter is making me crazy - and contributing to my desire to go hide under the comforter at night. I've got 2 loads of laundry going and as soon as I finish this, I'm breaking out the vacuum and getting rid of all the cat fur in the living room.

On the plus side, the weather has been SOOOO nice - I've had the windows open all weekend. I love being able to air out the house and feel the breeze.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend and will have a good next week as well! :)

Kara,
I bet since the jeans are feeling looser, that you will see a drop on the scale very soon! Sounds like you enjoyed your free day...yum!

I feel just like you...my house is a mess! I won't be able to relax until I get that under control. Unfortunately, I don't feel like doin a darn thing. Think I am coming down with something...have a scratchy and drainy throat and feel blah! Probably picked up a bug from the kids at school.

Have a good week!
Di

ARGH. The scale this morning said 171. Now since on Friday I was 167, I am pretty positive that was because I was a wild woman with the sodium this weekend. Still, it's frustrating. So today I'm drinking extra water and really watching the sodium intake.

I have an evening appointment today, which means I won't make it to the gym. With all the rain we're having, I'm hoping that traffic isn't so bad that I miss my appointment, much less the gym. I think I'll pop a DVD into the computer upstairs in my room and try to get in some kind of workout today. Either that or I'll go skip rope in the rain! :)

Nothing exciting is going on this week (*phew*) and I'm enjoying the calm. Other than this evenings appointment, I have a completely free week - so it'll be work, gym, home. No office parties, no get togethers, nothing that will mess with my regular eating plan. I'm looking forward to a week totally on target for the first time in months.

Tonights dinner will be oven baked salmon burgers on whole grain buns and cole slaw with peanut sesame dressing.

Back down to 168.6. I knew it was fluid and salt, but it's still hard to see the numbers on the scale go up.

My coworkers at the office are on another crazy diet plan. This time it's cereal and soup. F (who is always the ringleader) has decided she will eat cereal 2x a day and soup for lunch and that's how she'll lose weight. I have to laugh at her ... she just doesn't get it and isn't going to get it and she'll have moved on to something else in a few weeks.

It's funny - becuase I've lost so much weight, they all come to me and ask how to do it, and then when I tell them, they nod knowingly and go and try another crazy scheme.

Anyway .. that's about it. Another rainy day here and I'm going to go lift after work - since I missed yesterday due to my evening appt.

Hope everyone else is doing well.
