Juliette cross-training for Romèo

Plus a got text messages from an old flame (not that much to my taste either anymore).. It's funny how the holidays and festivities of different kinds bring our thoughts back to our pasts. And make some of us call/send messages/email people we haven't been with for a looooooong time, hoping to revive something truly past reviving.

I would venture to say it has something to do with the amount of alcohol consumed around these times. :) Ahhh, the infamous drunk dial... No good can come from that. As for getting rid of the exes, I don't think I can help you. I've had a couple of those clingy ones too. If you ignore them, they'll eventually go away. :p

Glad you hear you're having so much fun!

Hey Juliette,

I finally saw your picture and you're hot! It's always great to put a face to an image in your head... I'll get round to posting my pic soon enough :) You should be really proud of your efforts, especially now that you're pretty much in the maintenance phase now...

I hope you had a lovely Midsummer at the beach! No such luck here - it was kinda cold.. for summer at least.. About the ex's that won't stop contacting you, I find that a final text message saying "Please note that this is the last message you'll ever receive from me. I have no wish to be associated with you in any way, so kindly refrain from all contact henceforth. Please note that if you disregard this warning, I will have to store all messages to use as evidence against you. It's been great knowing you, so have a good life and goodbye!"

Too harsh? I find it works for me every time.. Being cold and calculating seems a lot harsher somehow.. (although it could backfire and you could get a right stalker...hopefully not :D)

I'll have to take your suggestions and try each. I'll report back (on next holiday weekend probably.. ) and let you know how they worked! :D
Have good weekends on your sides of the world!

Hi Juliette. You sure started a storm over there on Harsh Truth, LOL! Glad you stuck to what you know is right for you. Sorry about your exes contacting you -- no suggestions there, as I haven't been an "ex" in more than 3 decades. :)

Storm starter might just be my middle name... :D I don't regret it for a second. I thought that subject must be covered somewhere, since there's a lot of confusion about deficit/surplus/calorie consumption in general and many people take these things very seriously once they decide to lose weight..
I'm a great fan of 'don't fix it if it ain't broken', so it'll take more than one jokester to get me to change my ways to success. ;)

Good for you! :rotflmao: I admire that kind of commitment and I'm sure one day to find a good man to share mine with. :)

Yesterday was fun! Nice social life, eating, some drinking, and when I came home I felt I had eaten everything under the sun. When I thought about it though, I realized, it wasn't half as bad as that. I could still make a mile long list of all the bad foods I DIDN'T HAVE.
Anyway, the point of yesterday was not to be counting and that's one goal achieved. The scales this morning had funny numbers on them. Then I thought a month back and remembered, I would have killed to see those exact numbers on my scales then, after a week of nothing but good eating and exercise that is.. So I guess this means I've really lost the four pounds...
Today I think I'm going back to normal, eating well with some limits and going for a run. I was originally going to the gym today, but it's such a beautiful day out there, that it would be shame to waste it sweating inside. So a bit of running, maybe playing with my exercise ball in front of tv later on and a long nice stretching session are on my list. :)

Hey Juliette, how did the run go? Its 6am here and its looking like it will be nice sunny day as well. Yesterday I decided to do a walk in the park rather than stay home on my elliptical myself. After a long winter you just appreciate getting out in the nice weather.

So now I'm off to see what kind of trouble you started in Harsh Truth.

Ta ta :)

My friend called me just as I was heading out for a run and asked if I'd go nordic-walking with her. So we did a 75 minute nordic-walk. :jump:
I just got back home. I'm still keeping my options open for a run later on. The weather sure is very tempting, but right now it's a bit hot. Later in the evening will be perfect! :D

What's a nordic-walk? Is that the race-walking? 75 minutes -- that would be a long time for that kind of thing.

Hope you had a great Sunday!

That will tell you all you want to know about nordic walking.
The health facts section gives moer details about the sport. But basically it gives you a more balanced and slightly more effective workout than ordinary walking. I'm going about 7 km/h with the poles, about 6 km/h without..

OK, I've been seeing more people walking with poles. I always wondered what they were doing -- now I know!

Hi! I'm new to this site and just checking out some of the diaries. Are you willing to say whereabouts in Scandanavia you are? If I can find harsh truth I'm going to check it out but knowing my luck I'll never find my way back again

Thanks for the harsh truth link. Still laughing actually! Also found out my RMR in the middle of it which was an added bonus.

What instrument do you play Julie?

Oboe. I'm also a classically trained singer (opera).

Your a very well rounded girl there - you seem to wear alot of hats no wonder you have exes coming back heeheehee - I envy your singlism and abilitiy to be as active as you can be and want to be...I figured that would be me minus the kidos - ha ha ha - but I think I do pretty well considering I am single with the kids - and hold a full time job...your doing so great !!!

Stats for Sunday
Exercise 1137 cals
Nordic walking 75 minutes 632 cals
Running 45 minutes 505 cals
Eaten
cals 1994
prot 148
carb 192
fat 68
fibre 37
I simply loved the run. 45 minutes felt good. I was able to really push myself uphill, unlike before. The weight training, a few rest days and probably also this weekends carb content were all factors in that. My speed is slowly getting better, I averaged over 10 km/h today, on 7,7 km distance which is a bit more impressive, compared to the current highest speed on my sig, done on only 4,2 km distance.
I upped the calories near 2000 as I saw the over 1000 cal expenditure on exercise. I could have probably afforded a deeper deficit, since yesterday and the day before I must've been at about maintenance level, but I'd much rather keep my strength.
Overall a very good and happy day! :D
Now to bed..
Julie
