Juliette cross-training for Romèo

Hi Julie, hope you have a nice Sunday -- well, yours is almost over, isn't it? Mine's just beginning. :)

Thanks Tom!
It's about 6 pm here and I've had a great day so far. Some walking for light exercise, a bit of housework to clean up after last visitor before the next (my mom will arrive on Tuesday..), and a good bit of gardening on my balcony.
My tomato plants are beginning to look like tomatoes and I bought some new strawberry plants, since only one of last years survived the weird winter. Now I just need something to attach the two new flower boxes to the balcony wall and my personal piece of summer's ready to be enjoyed!
I'm going to have to take a really strict last four days before my goal of June 21st. I don't really care that much about the number on the scales on Thursday since my waistline has already shrunk to what I was hoping for. But I would be disappointed if I didn't do my best on the last days, so I'll try. Midsummer festivities begin on Friday, so I'm going to give myself a few "free days" without calorie counting then. I'm looking forward to that because I find that the planning and counting is really restrictive on my cooking talents. ;) I prefer simple dishes, because they are so much easier to count, not because they would be healthier, tastier or my favourites. After a good three weeks with mostly salads (since that's the easiest to count) I'm getting very fed up with that.
So now begins my final spurt towards my closest goal. Wish me luck! :p

Stats for Sunday
Exercise (another almost rest day)
Walking 60 min 326 cals
Eaten
cals 1700
prot 151
carb 119
fat 67
fibre 37

This was a decent day. Got a lot done and eating was very good. Three more days to go before the goal date. We'll see...
Tomorrow I'm going to the gym, weights day. Tuesday my mom will come and probably go home on Wednesday. Fortunately she loves to walk, the more the merrier, and eats whatever she's served, so no problem there. We'll be visiting museums, galleries etc. :)
Now, good night everybody!

Wow, with all the nightmare stories I've heard of people trying to stay on track with a houseguest, it sounds like your mom is the perfect visitor to have. Enjoy your week.

The half of a week after my last weigh-in (on Thursday 14th) I took it easy. Thursday and Friday I worked out at the gym, the weekend I only walked. Friday was a party day, but other days I was very good with my eating. So counting all the days on week 3 I ate an average of 1869 cals a day and used an average of 623 cals a day for exercise.
In the last two weeks together I've only lost 1.1 lbs, which would be disappointing, but as I've managed to lose a total of 2.4 inches in those two weeks (making the total loss of inches 3.4), I really can't be sad. My waist is 1.2 inches smaller than three weeks ago. I just tried on the tailored bermudas I made myself on 7th grade (14-15yo), which have a very tightly fitted high waist. They fit perfect. Just loose enough to move and breath, tight enough to look the right size. Which is nice, because some of my summer clothes are definitely unwearably large.. Funny thing is, when I made the bermudas, I must've been around 58 kilos (128 lbs), not 66,6 (146.7 lbs) like now. My jeans from when I started the Music Academy (17yo) are the right size for me now, not sure about the style though. :p
The goal of 145 by this Thursday is not really realistic anymore. See if I care, folks... :D I'll revise my goals after the weigh-in and measurements on Thursday.
Thanks for dropping by my diary everyone, and I'm so happy you guys are around whenever I feel the urge to do something I'm not supposed to.. :)
Julie

Hello you,

It's great to see you're still on track and doing well...and getting some rest too! Well done! Your summer challenge stats are really good - steady and definite progress. I'm also planning to work out in the gym during the week, but walk during the weekend. I think it's great for mental health - sometimes I feel a little hemmed in if I'm at the gym over the weekend..

Good on you with the inch loss. I guess the fat really is melting off you. *sigh* I can't wait to be so close to my goal, even though I know it must be frustrating for you sometimes..

Enjoy your day! What urge did you feel to do something you weren't supposed to? :)

Great stats Juliette!! I am very impressed that you are fitting in to those clothes from your high school years!! It seems like you may be even fitter and trimmer than you were then!

I hope you have a great time with your mum - it sounds like you will!! :)

That's a great attitude. A weight is just a number. Your health and the inches you take off and how you look and feel are all much more important. Slow and steady wins the race.

It's inevitable that as you get closer to your target weight, the pounds will come off more slowly -- but that's why it's so nice to have other gauges of measurement, like your waist size. Over one inch less -- now that is a real accomplishment!

Inch by inch beautiful lady, you are so getting closer and closer to where you want to be :D

awesome job and evenmore awesome attitude

Wow, it must've been a rush hour here in my diary in my absence! :rotflmao:
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for all the lovely comments! :D
I just came back from the gym where I spent two hard working hours. Weight training day today, and I felt like some cardio afterwards so I did a thirty minute cross-country program on the cross-trainer. Now I'm quite dead enough for today, so the rest of the evening = tv and internet. :p
Julie

The exercise part definitely applies to me... Many times I've thought "Nah, not today", but then I've come here, and been guilted into not only going to the gym, but doing a dam* good workout too...

Not sure about the food... the thought of food is still independent from everything, I fear...

WEEK 3
Measurements for June 18th 2007

Waist 30.7 -> 30.1 -> 29.9 -> 29.5
Weight 150 lbs -> 147.8 lbs -> 147.4 lbs -> 146.7 lbs

Goal by June 21st
145 lbs or waist under 30"

Look at you!! Fitting into Bermudas you made in Grade SEVEN! You made your goal for a waist under 30" and as far as I'm concerned, you'll make your goal weight by Sunday...close enough. You're doing really well and your hard work and dedication is paying off. Way to go Juliette!!!:jump:

Thanks Anna!
I have to confess I'm quite happy to see the results so far. I'm eagerly waiting to cross the half way line of my journey. Maybe this week... ;)
I would do a bit of happy dancing here, if I had any energy left from my visit to the gym. But I'm trying to get some dancing fitted to Friday night, the unofficial "All Finns Dance Night". :jump: :) :jump: :) :jump: :) :jump:

Midsummer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
There's a section about midsummer in Finland as well...

Mainly what goes on traditionally is a lot of drinking (main reason for the consequential dancing), barbecueing, big bonfires, going to sauna, going skinny-dipping with or without sauna etc. etc. Like New Year but in the summer. It's the years shortest night, so not much sleeping required. :rotflmao:
