Journey, Not A Destination

So last night was productive. We shot a lot of myfascial release videos with the roller (homemade mind you, if you want a cheap foam roller... go to home depot or lowes) and a tennis ball. We also shot conventional deadlifts, snatch grip deadlifts and speed deadlifts.

We'll see how they turn out today when Gordy comes down. We'll get them uploaded and edited... then put them on the site.

I also lit a fire under Gordy's butt with regards to the business. He's far, far from lazy. But I've done a good bit of the work so far. I have much more freedom during the week, so it's only logical. However, I made a new rule where each of us must do at least one thing per day. I don't care if it's as simple as writing down an idea to write about or implement in the future. You have to do something.

I also pulled out the notes from our very first meeting that was well over a year ago. Our first meeting about this company that is. It's amazing how precise we were. I told him... I'm not sure if it's destiny or whatever you want to call it.... but name one person you know who is as driven as you or I?

He couldn't.

So let's stay focused and make our dreams come true, I said. We are doing great and we're having fun, which is extremely important. However, I feel like if we're going to make it to the point we talk about (our facility and potent consultation business) we're going to have to kick it up a notch.

He agreed.

At the same time, we'll never treat this as a job. It's a lifestyle. It's a hobby. It's anything but work. Thankfully, even if we work 20 hours on our weekends, it doesn't feel like work. But we can't lose our flexibility and attitude. The perception. It's a fine line and I think we're doing a good job with it.

In other news, the weather sucks here right now. Humid and wet. Yuck.

Thanks Mal. It's been a pleasure sharing it and an even greater pleasure having you there to give your opinion and help.

I wasn't even fishing for a compliment -I find it fascinating watching a business venture unfold - from the lightbulb hey this would be a great idea - to actually getting off your butt and putting together a plan and above all making that plan happen.. and having it be real.. And having your blog out there for the entire world to see you don't get any realer than that...

I really hope that you and Gordy are proud of yourselves for what you've accomplished so far and what you will accomplish going forward.. A lot of people get the great idea and don't do anything to nurture it and make it grow into something...

(fresh air way too early in the morning is making my head act all weird - i'll go back to cynical and bitter in a moment.. :D

How dern exciting! :D

Sounds like everything is coming along nicely. ;)

Have A Great Weekend Steve!

Ahhh, nothing like wrapping up the weekend with some Eagles. Game starts in 15 minutes or so. While watching I'm cooking up my meats for the week and writing up a sketch of what I want my workout to look like over the next month or so.

I'm buckling down hardcore come tomorrow. My training has been pretty lax. I think I'll be doing some low volume, high intensity training for a bit with some rest pause stuff a la Doggcrap training. I've toyed around with some of his principles before but nothing serious.

I've been doing a lot of functional/strength stuff for the past half a year and I want to focus solely on hypertrophy for a bit.

I'm not sure if I'm going to do loaded stretching or not. From what I've seen the research is shotty but it might be worth a shot. I'm up for anything at the moment that's different from what I've been toying around with.

Out of nowhere... your ant or bug in your signature made my 5 year old daughter jump off my lap and run for her room!! To funny. I had to show her like 5 times that it was "in" the screen, not "on" it.

Dang it Steve! I had to come over here and tell you I was looking at a thread you posted in and swatted at my screen ;/. That bug looks real, lol.

Things are going well. We're slated to move in 11/21 or 11/22... thanks for asking!

Wow, your internet was out that long from a tree?

Yea sounds weird we had a storm with really high winds that took out trees and powerlines in several counties so the electric company has been backed up getting everything fixed and the cable company said it wasn't their responsibility to put the cable back up until the tree was gone. They finally got to it this week and had to put a whole new power pole up and cut up the tree and the cable company repaired the main line so we have an appt. Tuesday morning to get it run to our house again :) I'll be ecstatic to have TV and fast internet again, lol.

Anyway I'm so glad to hear everything worked out with your house. I was almost afraid to ask in case stuff had gotten hung up but it was taking too long on loading screens trying to back up in your journal. That's a ways off before you actually get to move though but guess it gives you alot of time to pack, lol. Just in time for the holidays :)

Hahahaha, it is very life like.

Hey, it's soon to be Halloween! :p

Quite the agonizing defeat last night with the Eagles. I can't believe they couldn't get in the damn endzone from the one to win it! It made for a tough Monday morning.

Now that I'm up and at em though, I'm feeling great. I can't wait to get to the gym and try my new routine!

Theh first installment of my interview with Lyle will be released this evening, or maybe tomorrow depending on how I feel after the gym tonight. Stay tuned.

This first part isn't all that interesting unless you like Lyle.

The meat and potatoes of the interview will come in a few days.

Haha, Gordy was a free man up until recently. Now he's engaged. He informed me they might actually get married when they go to Hawaii in a couple of weeks.

Ewww gross! :p

Great news on your site, and I'm so glad it's a lifestyle/hobby rather than "work" for you :)

Saturday I placed first for women on my mountain trail run, and got on the top 10 list as #9--but that night I had difficulty sleeping. It felt like my body was trying hard to repair torn muscle tissue, although that's probably impossible to "feel"--is it? Is it normal for people to toss and turn at night when their body undergoes severe strain? (I had to work at the winery right after, so I was on my feet for 6 hours, well, I managed a few breaks).
