Journey, Not A Destination

actually if you sort this forum by views -your diary is top dog...

no one has higher posts than yours does..

That was more so from the beginning I believe. I used to keep this thing really active... not so much anymore though. This used to be where I answered everyone's questions. Then I became much more vocal throughout the forum.

and views wise, you're in second place...

That's bullshit.

I want first. :p

pretty much... :) and I consider that one of your many good qualities... but sites like this -- people get a little used to the enabling atmosphere and for some - not being coddled is a litle different.. .and believe - coddling is the last thing that some people need (especially me )

Ya, I definitely don't coddle. I get this from my mother. Though she would do anything in the world for those she cares about.... she most definitely tells it like it is.

Why not.

The truth is what's important, no point in dancing around it IMO. Especially regarding the things we discuss on this forum.

I was gonna pm this but screw it..

I do think you are very approachable by new people -

you've invested a lot of time and effort trying to help people who would have otherwise been ignored on this forum becuase of a low post count or not making themselves known...

I like your momma :)

I tend to be the same way -I got a reputation on another forum for pretty muchteling it like it is - I've toned it down some what here -but if Ididn't care about someone -I'd ignore and move on...

Thanks Mal. :)

Sometimes I wish I could get to more people but I don't have the time and I don't feel like giving a half-assed response. In order for me to 'really' help, it would take a lot of time. The last couple of days I have a bit of free time so I've been more detailed with quite a few of the newcomers.... always feels so much better when I'm able to be detailed.

Hey Steve,

I know your on a trip, but something for you to read perhaps when you get back. I know you've written above Steve Maxwell before and whatnot... but I found it interesting that he says NO cardio is better than doing cardio. Is this crazy talk to just not condusive to someone trying to loose weight. Do you think a dietary caloric deficeit is better than a physical caloric deficeit (I personally do a bit of both).

Anyways, I know I've read about you doing minimal cardio... I just want to know about cardio for weight loss and your views. Oh yeah, I know HIIT is the best type of cardio for weight loss too... and I think Maxwell mentions that anything over 20 minutes is a waste of time and even "cancer causing". I follow him up until that point... then I get a bit put off from his argument.

That makes complete sense to me.... especially with the understanding of how our minds work. If you are told every single day of your childhood that you're inadequate... chances are pretty damn good that you're going to feel inadequate, even if you're successful, in adulthood.

Although physical traits don't define a person, I would imagine as you travel down this path of weight loss, it would help out the feeling of inadequacies, right?

Completely changing them I think takes a lot of mental reprogramming. A lot of management of self talk, focusing in on what you're saying to yourself and correcting it from there.

That is exactly it...that feeling of inadequacy...I know that by societal standards, I am a success but still, those voices keep coming in...

As I lose weight logic dictates that I would feel better but I still think 'fat' so my image of myself trails the reality. I requires LOTS of mental reprogramming...but I am trying to work on that, a little at a time...

Still, that fear remains. I am going to beat it one of these days. I refuse to let it own me forever...

Honestly, I don't know him, lol.

But he sounds like an idiot.

I think cardio is good. Not only for aiding the deficit, but also health.

There's a book you should check out. I think it's called Feeling Good. I have it on my shelf but I'm laying in bed and too lazy to get up since I have to wake up in a few hours to go fishing. It's a yellow book. It's written by David Burns if I remember correctly.

I've read more about this guy... he makes an argument (and a list of things that, including it causes cancer, which is what annoys me) that aerobic exercise is bad for you. He is all about the anerobics like HIIT. I'd like to link his blog but it's all about selling shit, the guy is impressive for 55 and has a client base that is impressive... you should google "Steve Maxwell top 10 reasons" or something like that. I felt angry reading this shit.

Intimidating?

How the hell so?

Steve- speaking as a new member here. Mal is 100% correct, it is because you have no issue telling people that they are wrong. A lot of people do not want to be told this. Also there is the 'epenis' to remember. You have a crap load of posts, giving you a very large 'emember'.

Also, so much advice is given in the posts that really if you search the stickies and your journal you usually find what you are looking for without having to ask a question- resulting in views.

Finally, some of the conversations that take place in here are generally interesting reading- especially to a new member. The curiosity of what is in a 500+ page thread draws people like a car crash.

Just thought you might like to observations from a new member.

If post count means anything (it's about as relevant as reputation :) my epenis is biger than steve's epenis :)

Waaay cool..
hey post count matters :) yup it does..

Hope it went great at the bank today.. and you and gordy wow'ed 'em...

and fishing ended up being some fun...

All I am saying is that is a reason why people could be intimidated. Male, female is irrelevant- it is a fact of forums from what I have seen.
