Journey, Not A Destination

weight lifting/strength training 3- 4 x a week
Walking on the treadmill 45 minutes a day 6 days a week.. (plus other random walking which doesn't count)

Yea, cutting cals a small bit may be necessary. If your measurements are going in good directions continually though, I wouldn't take that route until that stops happening.

from feb to march - measurements didn't do squat... we'll see how april does.. however I've cut 4 seconds off my mile time so far... so I'll take that as a positive :D

and I can say this with all honesty - I really don't care about the number on the scale - EXCEPT that I want 182 because I my over inflated ego says -you want to be able to say you've lost over 200lbs without surgery/pills/stupidity... :D I know I'lll get there... eventually.. I know it's a process that takes adjustments...

Right, I'm well aware of the fact that you aren't scale obsessed.

If the scale and measurements are heading in the right direction, we know some action must be taken.

I think you meant aren't - and yeah - I know...

ya, it's monday and this is the start of my hell week. leaving in an hour or so for the city and won't be out of the meeting till 6-7ish. Then on to traffic and all that fun shit.

that's my schedule for this entire week :(

More veggies and fish oil!

:p

That probably won't make or break your weight loss.... but I'd add them in nonetheless!
Hah i was thinking that myself when i posted, we had a very bad week (cancer scare, eating was the last thing on my mind). Fish oil i was debating because ive heard you singing its praises before and figure it cant do any harm.

If I were you, I'd bump intake up to 2500ish for 4-5 days and than drop back down and see what happens. If that doesn't kick start anything, you might have to start progressively cutting calories slowly below 2000..... 10% every 2 weeks or so.

Unfortunately, metabolic slowdowns tend to stick around after people lose a lot of weight.... so where 12 calories per pound might be a good deficit from your average person.... someone coming off a big weight loss might need a deeper deficit.

Hmm, thats gonna hurt to go back down, but yeah im going up higher for a week, see how it goes.
If it doesnt go then i dont think im gonna go low again like that until winter, as i have some fairly hefty training and couple of races comming up.
If i dont eat enough then i just cant cycle, i struggle on the 2000-2500 when im riding and if i do a particularly hard weekend ill often eat a little more. Basicly im listening to the body :)

Yea, if cycling is priority number one right now.... losing more weight might have to be put on the back burner for a little while, is all.

That is if the increase in caloric intake doesn't have an effect. Go up to 2500 and ramp back down from there 10% every two weeks.

Thanks Mal.

Some up, some updateage.

As some of you know I've been going into the city for big, big meetings all week. It's actually been better than I expected. It's boring meeting with the executives of the company b/c they're all rich. But working with the production level people (it's a factory in North Philly) is rewarding. These people ordinarily would never be able to obtain financial advice. Most don't even know how to work a computer. But we are able to explain to them why retirement savings is critical and how best go about it with the 401k plan we set up for them.

What else.....

I'm in discussions with the manager of my gym about becoming a part-time trainer for them. Right now when I train a client in any gym, I work as a sub-contractor. It's rare that I actually do this anymore. But lately, I've been getting the bug to work for a gym again and my gym is the nicest I've seen.

I'm not sure if it will all work out or not.... we are officially meeting next week sometime. But that could be cool. The training staff there is weak and he'd love to have me on board.... but it's a matter of schedules and expectations on both ends that might not pan out.

Thats amazing Steve, both about the personal training, and about educating others on the value of the 401(k). It is so important to maintain and contribute to one for the future, because there is no guarantee that social security will be there for us when we reach retirement age, even though we are paying into it.

My dad, being the sometimes illogical guy that he is, cashed his 401(k) out a few years ago because he wanted access to it at any time. So now, his money is sitting in a money market account doing very little I presume. He's only 49 too. Sigh. He thinks this is the best thing and has tried to encourage hubby and I to do the same, but there is no way under this earth we are doing that. LOL.

I love when you are able to do something that actually makes a difference to someone...that is one of the things I love about what I do, so I know that feeling.

Good luck w/the part-time training, that's great to hear - maybe it will satisify some of what you have been craving lately while you are waiting to get your website up an running :)

Yea, I def. would NOT listen to him, lol.

That's too bad really. Especially considering the fact that he cashed it out early.... he had to pay a 10% penalty for doing that! The government loves those kinds of people!

The problem is, people used to retire at 60-65 and not live past 70. That's not the case anymore. Now people are living in retirement for almost as many years as they worked!!! Even IF social security is still there, it's not going to be enough to cover the needs/expenses for that period of time.

Thanks Ali!

I've actually been training part-time. I never really stopped that since college. For some reason though, I feel a need to get back in a gym. Plus, if something were to happen to my finance job before my new business is entirely off the ground, it would be nice to have the constant flow of traffic being affiliated with a gym would provide as a trainer.

Plus, last time I trained for a gym, I was just a 'pup' lol.

I think I could make some big differences now in terms of the training programs.

Based on what I see from you around here...I can imagine you are a fierce trainer...any gym would be lucky to have you, believe me.

Did you have to deal with that mess on 95 in your travels yesterday?
