Journey, Not A Destination

oooh a boy sleepover...

you made the comment that gayness was followinig you everywhere -

Hmmm :)

Ah - you're secure in your masculinity :)

Have fun being Irish :)

Lift lots and lots of beer :)

that low weight high rep in some circles - -they say it's good for you :)

All things have utility when applied correctly. I'll just change my goal this weekend for muscle endurance rather than strength and hypertrophy.

:p

it's good to change your goals from time to time- keeps you from getting stale :)

and you'l get some cardio in occassionally running to the bathroom... :)

So I'd say it's a well rounded weekend..

anyone does a jig though - I want video please :)

Welcome to the group, man. :)

Good for you... what are you current stats if you don't mind me asking.

I'm not a fan of them, to be truthful.

The leaner you get, the more one can get out of them, IMO. If someone is trying to lose a lot of weight, consistently applying the fundamental concepts of dieting and exercise will more than suffice.

For leaner folk who are having trouble, something like an EC stack of ephedrine and caffeine have proven worthy.... but I'm not going to sit her suggesting people run out and start taking it. I've got a lot of people lean, including myself, without touching any of the stuff.

23 years old, college student
6'3 215 at the moment (when I started I was about 237)
have been trying to eat healthier (although I know I could do a lot better)
also exercise about 6 or 7 times a week, usually 50 min cardio and then some lifting

have my own thread, have been writing down exercise amounts and food intake (food intake is about 80% accurate though)

my first goal was to get to 220 (15 pound loss) - did that but am still fat, gut is still there. . . so new goal is to get to 200 pounds and see how I look

I'm a muscular dude, have played sports all my life, played college football for a few years. . .but my goal is to get rid of the spare tire/gut (maybe see some abs? I know everyone says this but I'd really like to try and get to that low of a bodyfat %, then I would know I accomplished something big)

link to my journal - http://weight-loss.fitness.com/weight-loss-diary/19080-hopefully-works.html

I hear you on the weight loss supps. . .they seem to good to be true. . .oh well, back to the treadmill and supermarket

yeah . . . I really don't weight train per say. . .

my usual day consists of

20 min bike
30 min treadmill

then if I have energy for lifting I'll do a few diff lifts (2 or 3) for a body part, low weight, high reps

bad?

Ya.

I mean, not bad per se.... but your plan has to be matched to your goals. And tons of cardio and a restricted diet is a fine way to get the body of a marathoner.

My guess is though, that's not what you're shooting for.

If you're looking for the lean, powerful look.... lifting weights seriously must be part of the plan.

Hey man,

I hope you have a productive weekend with Gordy on your site. St patty's day sounds promising in the fun spectrum :). Have a good weekend man and i will definitely hit you up with some questions near the end of the weekend.

It's not though, really. People make it much harder than it has to be. The first thing to ditch is the binary thinking.... where everything is either right or it's wrong.

There's barely any of that, in truth, with fitness.

It's just that some things make more sense than others. And pretty much all things need to be based on the context of one's goal or goals. Just throwing in different modes of exercise arbitrarily into a routine just b/c it *sounds* right or it's what you read in a magazine is probably not going to make a whole heck of a lot of sense.

You said you want to look lean.

Losing fat is a must, which you know. In your mind, I bet lots of cardio = fat loss. And yea, this can be the case assuming your diet is in check and whatnot. But lots and lots of cardio can also mean muscle loss.... especially while in a hypocaloric diet.

Losing muscle doesn't really go hand in hand with looking lean, if you read me.

That's why your programming needs to be goal dependent. You need to eat and train in a way that is conducive to meeting your goals.

To add, I bet you are of the belief that high rep, light weight resistance training helps shape or tone up certain parts of your body b/c you can 'feel the burn.'

That's shit.

That burn has nothing to do with the fat.

- my goals -

drop pounds, reduce body fat and lose the gut

you have inspired me to lift more and try to retain my muscle. . . so I'm gonna start cutting back a little on cardio and up the time spent on weights

anything else? I feel like I'm doing everything wrong

Again, it's not about right/wrong.

It's about optimizing your actions to match your desired outcomes.

Doing what you're doing isn't going to lead you looking like hell, lol. That's for damn sure. Exercise, any form, coupled with a healthy diet sure as shit doesn't lead to a screwed up body as far as I know.

But doing things a bit differently might give you more of what you're looking for. I'm just *fine tuning* if you will.

I mean, this isn't just about losing weight.... or it would be a cinch. It's about looking good nekkid..... right?

Someone help.

How can I get a BMR calculator on my website without knowing web code and all that fancy bullshit?

there should be a web widget thing that can be uploaded to your site... or link to it from somewhere else..

Wishes is the web goddess - i'd imagine she'd be able to assist you immediately...

(if you look at websites that do have them - do a right click on the website and go to view source - you'll be able to see the code that's being used...)

Wasn't helpful I know but plan b was going to find gordy's number from information and start making prank phonecalls :) is your refridgerator running? :D

you're speaking jibberish to me.... i saw something about a widget but how do i use it or get it to my website.....

And I don't want it to be linked to someone else's.... I want it to be integrated into our page.
