Wow..
That's all I can say about the conversation I had with a family friend yesterday afternoon.
I ran into her out and about. I used to work for her husband doing construction years ago. She was always 'that one reallllllyyyy hot mom.' Still is to be honest. She always had a thicker bottom and thighs.
I guess this started bothering her b/c she told me she hired a personal trainer. The convo went something like:
Her: I'm in love with this trainer. He really gets me motivated and I lost a few lbs already.
Me: That's great, how long have you been working with him?
Her: A few weeks.
Me: What does he have you doing?
Her: Well, it's all circuit training b/c I'm only interested in toning up. He's a professional 'female body sculptor.' So no heavy lifting...
Me: A professional female body sculptor, huh?
Her: Yup... and he doesn't allow me to run b/c running will only make my legs fatter he taught me.
Me: Okay, okay... listen, you know I do this for a living so why would you not ask me for help? I wouldn't expect you to pay me or anything. I can't tolerate this level of absurdity your trainer is talking. You *really* need to learn to ask simple questions with your trainer; namely "why?"
For instance, why does lifting light weights tone my body. I would think higher weights would do more for my muscles?
Or how about this...
If running makes your legs fatter, how come marathon runners don't have the fattest legs of all the world?
Her: Steve, this guy, if you talked to him, you'd know that he really knows his stuff. Plus, I'm enjoying it so....
Me: Well I really have to be going... blah blah blah
Unfreakingbelievable.
