Journey, Not A Destination

Happy Birthday Bro.

Heads up to ya... I should be up in Lancaster the weekend of the 20, 21, 22... possibly.

Think you'll be around? Dinner? Breakfast? Shady Maple?

We were supposed to go to Long Beach Island that weekend but last I heard Krista's parent's house may be rented. Let me check tonight and I'll let you know. If I'm around, no doubt Shady Maple!

why do I think it's cute that you and your wife's birthday are a day apart...

Awwwwww...

that's very cool about the warehouse... and the possibilties that ya'll have going forward.. not that I would ever doubt it..

We hear that often. It is crazy that I'm one day older than my wife... I like it.

Just looking at it definitely helped solidify my vision, that's for sure. I mean a life where I go to work at my own gym with Gordy every day is a dream come true.

I could see you smile when you wrote that...

Dare to dream... but I absolutely know you will make that dream a reality...

I wanna be invited to the ribbon cutting ceremony :)

Thanks Melissa! :)

So I had a nice evening after work yesterday. I had to take the day off from the gym... I'm a little concerned about my elbow. It's been killing me since Sunday morning. I slept on the floor at Gordy's Saturday night (I was too drunk to rationalize going up the steps to the bed) and I think I was laying on my arm funny. It feels like I screwed up a nerve or something.

Today is the first day of our 'conditioning circuit' so hopefully I'm able to do it. I'm stoked.

Yesterday when we got home from work we went out to dinner for my bday. We went to Red Lobster... it's our go-to-place when we want good food quick since it's so close. I had a cajun chicken alfredo dish... which was excellent. Then we went home and watched Bucket List, which was a good movie.

Tonight I think we're staying in and cooking out on the grill... steak and shrimp.

mmm shrimp on the barby... save some for m e...

chicken at red lobster? well ok then - isn't that sort of like ordering a vegetarian dish at a steak house :D But it's your birthday you can eat chicken if'n you wanna..

HOpe you enjoyed...

Well I used to get every single time I went there the same dish which was shrimp and lobster alfredo. They stopped making that dish and replaced it with this cajun chicken dish. I was very hesitant to get it when this originally happened but it's damn good. And Krista always gets a seafood dish and doesn't finish it so I clean that up too.

Haha, she's the cute one. I'm just the lug who eats a lot. Her summer break from teaching starts today, so that worked out perfect for her. I'm jealous.

I took off Friday though to work on the company, so I can't complain.

Thanks Melissa! :)

Whats your circuit look like Steve?

Right now it alternates a primary drill (something for power, speed or agility) with a metabolic drill. We are just starting it so it will most likely adapt over time but the immediate goal is to improve general conditioning while building up some of the athletic qualities that have been neglected for too long.

Primaries include things like:

- cone/hurdle work

- plyos with various jumps, bounds, boxes and balls

- tractor tire work

- shuttles

The secondary/metablic stuff will be anything from light jogging to rope jumping.

We'll also be throwing in a lot of prehab/rehab stuff like scap pushups, wall slides, and various other dynamics mobility movements. That will probably be our warmup in fact.

Looks good. Post the routine when you get it finished I'd like to try it. I always try the weekly workout on Ross's site. And I always fail miserably. It keeps me motivated.

I think todays will look something like this:

Alternating Split Squat Jumps
Jump Rope
Shuttle
Jumping Jacks
Rotational Med Ball Wall Slams
Burpees
Tire Flips
Jog
Stand Ups from lying position with sandbag
Agility work with speed ladder

Each station will last 30 seconds for as many as you can do with 15 seconds between each.

Ouch. This for just you and Gordy or are you making other people do this? You have a vid of the stand ups from lying position with sandbag? Thats a new one on me.

Gordy actually isn't doing it. I'm doing it with a guy I've trained with off and on over the years interested in this as well as a few of the local wrestling coaches. They want me to show them some things they can do for general conditioning for their wrestlers. I'd modify this a bit once we get into working with them specifically but for now, again, this is general conditioning for the most part.

The stand ups look something like this at the 2:28 mark in the vid:

or at the 3:05 mark here:

Ahhhh. Looks brutal. I watched the 1st video. gave me a back ache. I am going to give your circuit a shot this weekend. I have to take a couple days off Wed-Thur for a procedure.
