Thanks for stopping in and ya, I'm in fat loss mode. My bulk was going nowhere so figured if I'm not going to be putting on muscle, why not shed some fat.

Everything else is good.

Haha.

That's b/c most people go into the gym like zombies and do the same shit day in and day out with no understanding of why they're doing what they are.

I don't quite know how to explain how I feel. It's a mixture of hunger and a general sick feeling at the moment. I'm sick of eating meat.

It is amazing how many people I've seen workout in gyms for years never changing a thing, physically. Granted, I'm sure some are happy with what they have and they're just interested in maintaining. That makes sense. Others, I'm sure, aren't much interested in the way they look... they're training for a specific event or sport. That makes sense too.

But not all the stagnant people can fall into these categories. I always try and rationalize what the missing link is. Obviously it's a combination of things but I think the primary player is nutrition. People consistently exercise b/c it's tangible. They can see and feel it. Nutrition on the other hand is a little more abstract. And it's a little less understood IMO. Plus, people don't 'truly' understand how much each of these two things (exercise and nutrition) go hand in hand.

Most people turn to their routine when they aren't getting the results they're after and end up changing things around all the time.

That's not going to work though. That's not the problem.

ur brain needs some carbs lol.

Gluconeogenesis.

Thank goodness.

but i understand what your doing. its just a mental thing for you now.. i know you have the mind and heart to finish it out

Thanks man.

Good afternoon Steve:)

First, I read your diary pretty much everyday but I sort of feel intimidated posting here. I'm not scared of you I just usually think what can I actually contribute other than a "Hey how are ya?". Anyway I've been reading your posts about your current plan and clearly I can't offer medical/scientific advice but moreso just some personal experience. Ok, so I haven't done what you are doing exactly at all but lately I've been have trouble losing fat on my stomach, but I've been losing fat everywhere else. This would also be the first time I've ever had trouble losing fat on my waistline. Since my diet is mostly carbs (on any given day without being mindful of macros carbs can make up to 70% of what I eat) I decided to see what would happen if my diet percentage of carbs was lower than my percentage of proteins (I might just sound like I have no clue wtf I'm doing at all... it's probably true!). So at the very start I really didn't like it. Protein is great, but basically it was making me all "backed up" and I don't have those issues. *mighty awkward talking about this in public*. Granted fish oil does the same thing and it comes with awful bloating. When you posted you hadn't lost any weight maybe it's because you of that? I really don't want to get into a BM discussion here so I'll leave it at that. And that full yet somewhat sick feeling... well I have been getting that since I pulled back majorly on the carbs and tried hitting the protein hard(er). And it makes it hard for me to stick with this long enough to see if I like it or it works. I don't want to see chicken, turkey, eggs or beef for the rest of the week. Just wanted to share some personal experience. I hope I didn't just waste space here in your diary:leaving:

Best of luck with this. It's definitely the toughest thing I've seen so far!

Firstly, this diet isn't about contributing. It's really about hanging out. Sure, at times there's some serious discussion but even than it's about hanging out. So never be intimidated about not contributing something worthy. Anything goes and a "hey how are ya" certainly isn't pointless.

:)

Thanks for sharing your experience. Much of what I'm going through I actually expected, to be honest. Some of it has to do with the fact that I'm in a state of ketosis. Other parts of it has to do with hydration and the like. The only real thing that surprised me is the amount of water and/or poop I'm holding.

But I'm not concerned, nor am I looking for an explanation. I know that due to the amount of calories I'm consuming, I'm losing fat. I wouldn't' care if the scale read 300 lbs (exaggeration), I'm confident in my energetic state and I understand how that affects fat.

Admittedly, I had some preconceived notions about the diet. Primarily, I thought it was very low calorie. I've heard instances where people literally were eating 400-500 calories per day. Concurrently though, I was ignorant for the most part of the nitty gritty details of the diet namely b/c A) I wasn't ready to try it on myself and B) it was and still isn't applicable to any of my clients.... in fact I probably wouldn't put them on it even if it was applicable.

Once I figured out what I'd need to eat personally to match the recommendation, I was surprised by how many calories I need to eat. That threw me for a loop.... but so far, that's been the only surprising thing.

Thanks again.

Hey, I think I've got something meaningful to add here. :svengo: :biggrinjester:

Brunette Goddess--Personally, I think 70% of one's diet being carbs is awfully high. I try to keep mine under 45%, and ideally, under 40%. I would aim for 1g of protein for every 2lbs you weigh, and at least 25g of fiber per day. I can get in 110g+ of protein and 25g+ of fiber on 1400-1500 calories, so it can be done--it just takes some planning. Fitday is great for that. Try eating some Fiber One cereal--it's loaded with fiber (14g in one 1/2 cup!). That should take care of your constipation. I think most people don't get enough protein or fiber in their diets.

Steve--hang in there with the diet, buddy. I talked with Sheryl via IM last night. She's fine, just busy as hell. She's moving into her new digs this weekend, and after the middle of the month, should be back on here. Don't know if you've talked to her recently, so I thought I'd catch you up if you hadn't. :)

Who is Sheryl?

:p

Mornin' Superman :)

So nice that people are just so complimentary of you :) it's nice when "
fun" peoplecan make friends..

Or not...

So any scale changes this morning? Or is the weight gain powder I've been sneaking into your water still working? :D

Damn! That's harsh. Sheryl--you know--your lord and mistress. The one who whips you before she violates you with a rubber dong. :smilielol5:

Ohhhhh......

I almost forgot about that lady. Was beginning to think she was a figment of my imagination.

And by the way... you have it reversed. I was the one with whip in hand. The only man to ever dominate Sheryl.

Did I miss something?

Weight is down to 190 this morning. So things are starting to head in the right direction.
