Jessafurr's Slimdown for Mexico Trip

Hi! I'm a bit late with this but ... welcome to the diaries!!

I love that you figured a way to fit your exercise into your day properly. I am doing ok with this at present because I'm on holidays, but normally this is my number one problem!!

Your boyfriend does sound sweet!! :D

Thanks A-n-g-e-l! I wore that dress to a wedding a few years ago and got so many compliments on it! I can't wait to be skinny enough to wear it again!!! I know its gonna happen! By Summer!

you've got great attitude!! keep it up and you will be in that dress very soon!

;-)

Thanks Ladies! I do feel super motivated. I know I'm going to smash my goals!

Ugh, I have such gas today, or at least right now. I don't usually and that is why its noteworthy. I think its the sudden increase in veggies. Is that my body's way of thanking me?? (Gee thanks!) Sorry, if I'm being too candid! I'm just totally exhausted from my day at work.. feeling a little loopy. It was soo crappy/snowy today that I didn't leave for lunch so I was cooped up all day. Plus, it was just a stressful work day. Noo chance to exersize today.. its like a blizzard outside! Next week I'm going to engage my new plan and fit in workouts.

We'll probably get snowed in tommorrow. The stores are all out of batteries and candles. If its like last time the gas trucks won't be able to make it up the summit and the gas stations will be out of gas!

Yawn, I'm going to soak up the cable, while we have power, and watch the America's Next Top Model Marathon. Those skinny bit@hes! lol.

Oh ..

Stuck to calorie goals so far (actually I need to still use a bunch)!
Water.. 8 more ozs I'll have met my daily goal.
Fiber: yes.
Veggies: yes.
no exercise. ugh. ugh. ugh........

Well you sound motivated! Here's something that might help motivate you: If you're sore today from yesterday's workout, one of the best ways to get rid of that soreness is to work out today. If you let it go, the soreness might be worse tomorrow. :)

Anyway, you're an inspiration!

I know.. thats so true. I need to kick myself in the ass. I think tommorrow I'll have to shovel alot.... that will burn calories!

Ooh, shoveling is supposed to be a great workout! Did the storm come through? You have so much discipline to workout while it's snowing. I mean, when it's raining down here I just think "awww, eff it." Lol.

So far this weekend has been ok but not great. Yesterday, my calories were at 1500. I know that isn't bad but its high for my goals.

I've been holed up in the house since Friday at 5:30 though. It is literally a blizzard here. I shoveled snow for about 45 min yesterday but it was coming down so fast I got frustrated and stopped. (all my progress was getting covered up.) I also walk to the store.. about 30 min. We've gotten over 4 feet of snow at this point. My car is totally stuck in the driveway.

Its hard to not snack too much when I'm stuck in the house! I'll try to get out of the house today and go to the gym. I'm sure there will also be much more shoveling ahead!

My food journal from yesterday:

Breakfast:

Breakfast tacos:
2 egg whites, 1 egg yolk scrambled with onions , spinach and red pepper in two 4" corn torillas with .25 cup salsa, 1 oz low fat cheddar (soooo good!) The onions and peepers were sauteed first in 1 tsp olive oil.
My boyfriend , Dax (yes -- birth name) wanted a breakfast burritto so I made him one and modified mine as two tacos.

1 Krusteaz Orange Cranberry Muffin Fat Free with .50 teaspoon Brummel and Brown Yogurt spread. yummy yummy!

Lunch:

Kashi Go lean Crunch Honey Flax Cereal 1 cup with Organics Light Vanilla Soy Milk .5 cup with .5 cup blueberries. This cereal is my favorite other than raisin bran for high fiber cereal.

Snack:

3/4 cup steamed shrimp with 1 tsp of garlic chili sauce and a dash of rice wine vinegar.

1 mini box raisins

Dinner:

BBQ Chicken Sandwiches:

2 slices of high fiber wheat bread
4 oz broiled chicken breast
about 3 tbs bbq sauce
carmelized onions (in 1 tsp olive oil)
1 oz low fat cheddar
Healthy Weight Veggie Mix (Green Giant) 1 cup (its a mix of soybeans, carrots, peas, black beans, lima beans) with a dash of hot sauce.

I made Dax a bigger sandwich with fries and a smaller dose of veggies. I'm trying really hard to be able to make meals for both of us that are diet friendly enough for me that will keep him happy. So far so good!

Dessert:

2 Merangue Crusts. I tried to make merangues from a Weight Watcher's recipe. They came out with a nice crusty crust but mush inside. I ate 2 of the crusty tops and tossed the rest! I used to eat these merangues called Miss Merangue and they are sooo good. Fat Free -- low calories (like 30 each). you can buy them online which I may need to do since I can't find them in the stores here in Cali.

So that was my 1500 calorie day.

Fiber: 28 grams
Water: 70 ozs

Fruit/Veggie Servings: around 5

Hey Jessafur-

Read your diary to try and catch up. Can I ask why you are trying to stay around 1200? That's a bit low for a healthy weightloss. And I feel you on the veggies.. I tried increasing fruit intake and it made my stomach very uncomfortable.

I'm trying to just target between 1200 and 1400. The other day I was at 1500 and I wasn't concerned. as I lose I'll increase calories and increase exercise.

Today was very similar to yesterday. Snowed in-- though after shoveling for an hour we got my car out and I did make it to the grocery store.

Breakfast:
1 slice whole wheat toast with 2 tbs low fat peanut butter and 1 tbs sugar free blackberry jam.

Snacks:

V8
1 whole grapefruit w/ splenda
10 Dark Chocolate Coverd Peppermint Altiods (my new favorite low cal/fat treat!)
1 mini box of raisins

Dinner:

Chili dog (1 cup homemade turkey chili, 2 oz low fat cheese, 1 tbs chopped onions, half whole wheat hotdog bun, 1 turkey dog, 1 tbs Light sour cream) I was inpired to make this old favorite by another diary.

Snacks:

1 cup organic "Smart Puffs"
1 strawberry Special K bar
2 more altoids

Calories: 1256 (a little low)
Exercise: 1 hour shoveling
Protein: 55g
Water: 64 oz
Veggies/fruit: 5
Fiber 17g (below goal)

Percentages:

Carbs: 44%
Protein: 19%
Fat: 38%

** would have liked my fat intake to have been lower and protein higher.

Tommorrow will be seven days on my diet! I have a lunch and snack aresenal ready for work tommorrow. I plan to head to my body sculpt directly after work.

I decided I'm only going to weigh myself once a week. That way I don't need to go up and down with my scale. So my weigh in will be mid day on Wednesdays. (I'd prefer an AM weigh in but I don't have a scale at home and I need to weigh myself arround Wed-Thurs for the New Years to V-day Challenge). Its hard to wait but I think it will be worth it.

you must have loads of snow if you are still shovelling and an hour as well! its great when you do some excercise and you see results straightaway...shoveling for an hour gets rid ov the snow and does your excercise for the day as well. amazing!

Lol, if we got paid a dollar for every time someone told us that 1200 was too low! I don't know how many times I have to explain that I'm 5'2 and that caloric intake is what my trainer recommended! Plus, it's a range people! A range. It makes me laugh.

Anyway, great job on the healthy chili dog recipe. Looks full of lean meats and good stuff!

I was reading another diary that mentioned a baked pasta dish. I think tomorrow night I'm going to try to do a baked spaghetti kind of dish substituting spaghetti squash instead of pasta. If the recipe is any good maybe I can trade you for your healthy turkey chili recipe!

Lana!
I know its so funny... about the 1200 calorie thing. Honestly, I know that I eat enough to be healthy. Also if I have a big workout -- I eat more. And its true.. I'm 5'2! I'm definitly not starving myself! My body tells me when I need more... then I eat more!

Yeah, the chilli I make is full of veggies and beans so its lower in calories. I've made it for years. Its such a well-rounded dish.. fiber from the beans, tons of veggies, lean protein. Plus its filling!

Your pasta sounds good let me know how it turns out!

I worked out today!! Yahoooo! I left work early and did:

30 min on the eliptical
15 min treadmill
15 min bike

Tommorrow we're slammed at work so I won't have time for the gym cause I'll have to put in a looong day. But I plan to go to the BodySculpt Class (that kicks my ass!) on Wed, and the gym on Thurs (I'll take a long lunch) & Fri. (taking day off-- I'll go to a Body Blast class then do some cardio). Then I'll go both days on the weekend.

Food today:

Breakfast:
1 cup kashi go lean & 1/2 cup lowfat soy milk
2 choc covered altoids (I'm in love)
coffee w/ light creamer & splenda

Lunch:
1 cup chili
starbucks skinny cinnamon dolce latte, tall

Snack:
Fat Free Orange Cran Muffin

Dinner:
1/2 flour tortilla w/ 4 oz chicken marinated in 1 tsp italian dressing & garlic. tomato, lettuce, 1/4 avocado, 1 tsp lt mayo, 2 slices red onion

That was 1375 calories.
Fiber: 24 oz
Veggies: around 4

LOL I was exhausting!! Its true though-- it was out of neccesity and it sure was a workout!!

Great work on the gym dedication! I finally got moving today when my fiance and I went to our first ballroom dance class (prepping for the wedding.) It wasn't what I would call a workout, but it bumped up my heart rate a little.

Awesome job on preplanning your workouts too!

Ugh. I think I'm getting a headcold. I have tons of sinus pressure, runny nose & sore throat. Waaaaa! Also stress at work. And its snowing again. Double Waaaa!

Breakfast: High Fiber Cereal & Soy
Lunch: Veggie soup
Dinner Black Bean Veggie Burger.
No Snacks
50 oz water (I'll have some tea later and get to 64 oz)
No exercise.

I'm gonna dose myself with antibiotics and NyQuil and go to bed.
