Jess - The road to happiness and health :)

That's what a pantry is here, too... I guess a cupboard is more likely to hold dishes. We put our clothes in a closet. I love how this site has people from all over so I can learn these slight differences in dialect! And about all the different foods, too!

Me too Laura! Different foods are so interesting! :) So far I've learnt about cheese curds, molasses and am trying to find out what the hell triskets are!! :coolgleamA:

Jess, Yay on the throwing away of big clothes! I had a purging of my laundry pile a while back myself. Its a good feeling!

I tossed out all my saggy old bras too and hubby bought me some new sport ones, so my girls are back up where they belong!!! Yay!

Haha! Too funny Jess :) When I grow out of my over-the-shoulder-boulder-holders, I might donate them to the RAF because they too can pass as nifty parachutes! :biggrinjester:

And on a side note, in the US a cupboard is where we keep kitchen stuff, food and whatnot, so reading your post made me giggle a bit. :)

LOL -I was thinking the same thing. I just figured if her sister in law keeps her undies under the dining room table, maybe she keeps hers in the kitchen???

It had to feel great to get rid of the granny panties and other big clothes!

Ha ha you guys crack me up :)

Tig god only knows what she (the hideous sister in law) keeps in her bedroom cupboards!!! :leaving:

Cheesy :smilielol5:

Thanks for explaining the Trisket thing too Cabbie - it was eating away at me not knowing what the hell they were!

Yes indeed, so relieved to not have to hang those gigantic undies on the line anymore!

Food today -
Brekky - 1 slice of wholegrain bread, I medium banana
Snack - Apple (Pink Lady)
Lunch - Wholegrain wrap with teryaki lean beef, lettuce, low fat hommus, tomato, cucumber. It was awesome :)
Snack - 10 raw almonds
Dinner - Veggie soup
Snack - 1 mango

I've been covered in bruises, so yesterday I went and got some Swisse Women's Multi Vitamins with iron. I'm hoping these help me out. I must admit I do feel a bit depleted all round so I'm glad I got them.

This week is a light week at work, only 1 house per day to clean except for Friday (2). Every day I've been doing an hour on the Wii Fit and about 45 to 60 minutes small weights work and crunches. Tomorrow after cleaning I'll be having a nice beach walk while hubby goes fishing. We've had lovely weather this past week, although a snifter too hot for my liking... Still haven't got my kayak yet, it's going to have to wait till after Christmas *sniff sniff* just too broke at the moment!

yummmmm..your wrap sounded so yummy! congrats on the disposal of the scaffolding ;)

i hope the new vitamins will help in your energy level!!

Hey Jess, just thought I'd pop in and say g'day. I just read your whole thread and I just want to say that you are an inspiration woman! Congrats on your 8kg loss so far, and cleaning out the cupboard. I cannot wait until I kick some bigger sizes and can clean out my cupboard too!

Are you tracking your calories at all? There's a website for aussies called calorieking which is free to use, it also helps track your fat, carbs and PROTEIN. There's also another website that contains the protein content of foods if you want to choose foods that are high in protein. I'll PM you both the websites - I don't know if I'm allowed to post the sites up here. You're seriously not getting enough protein at all my dear! Go back to drinking the soy milk at breakfast - that contains a little protein. You might also want to try egg whites, instead of eating the smelly yolk, they still have a lot of protein in them. You can buy frozen egg whites in the supermarket if you don't want to waste your yolks (or you can feed the yolks to the dog - good for their coat). You might also want to try prawns in your stir-fry for something different - really tasty!

A closet? Do you mean a water-closet? (the toilet!?!?!!!!) hehehe all these cultural differences are quite amusing. I can never get over the US "fanny pack" (as in, it means "front bottom" in the UK!) and men and women wearing pants as in trousers (again in the UK, pants mean like...mens Y fronts...so not even nice underwear!).

I keep my food in the cuboard in the pantry...and my clothes in the drawers and the wardrobe!

Saying farewell to giant undies has to be one of the best things about losing weight - all those lovely lingerie sets and nice little pairs of knickers that I'd love to fit into rather than big momma hold me in's!!

Hey Lisa,
Thanks mate :)
Thanks so much for sending me those links, I remember buying a book (C - King) back in the day that listed the cals in every food in Australia. I had forgotten all about it! I'm going to suss both out tonight when the kids are in bed (my sanity hours). I thought I was pretty low on protein... I just find eggs so gross and have only just started eating meat again after a LONG time being veggo. I don't mean to sound rediculous and fussy but seafood's a no go too, I just can't handle the smell of it. Bizarre as it is, my first job was working in a Fisherman's Co-Op for 2 years! It was dreadful, and I even got kicked out of a taxi once after work because I stank so bad :cuss:. The cats loved me though...:blush5:

I'm hoping to find some alternatives tonight now :) I'm really loving the low fat cottage cheese, but will definitely invest in some more soy milk this week.
Thanks again, much appreciated :)

LMAO! I remember watching movies when I was a kid and every time 'fanny pack' was mentioned we would be in tears laughing! We call it a bum-bag over here :) which is quite disturbing as well I guess!
I have a mate that actually uses on instead of a wallet and she calls it her 'vajay jay pouch'. Lovely...:ack2:

Yeah how good is it to look at nice bras instead of giant beige abominations? I want to get some nice colourful ones :hurray:
I could hardly ever find my size too, which was so irritating. I've always been a B cup but used to be an 18. I think I was the only fat woman with small boobs, because every size 18 was always a DD etc. I can't wait to be buying 12 B's. Normality!

It's a bum bag in England as well. In Spain they are called riñoneras which refers to kidneys rather than fannys or bums.
I was saved from losing a lot of money by one of them once when pickpockets stole my purse which had a little bit of lose change. All the real money was tucked away in my knickers in a bum bag which is what I always do when I travel. Not going to be so easy now that I'm wearing much smaller knickers!!!

Hey Lisa,
Thanks mate :)

I know what you mean about it being difficult to convert back to eating meat. I was a vego for about 4 years when I was a teenager, and I had to start eating meat again - but it made me want to vomit every time I look at it, and eating it was just aweful. Now I love certain meats, but to touch and look at raw meat is the most difficult thing still. You might want to try kangaroo meat in a stew (its not tasty or nice when you eat it straight), or maybe even as part of a soup. Make sure you boil it for a long time though coz it's tough. It's high in protein and iron so good for ya ;) You could also try eating hommus with crackers, or adding in beans to your stir-fry as well. Calorieking has a lot of recipes that you might like to try. That's one thing that I love about eating healthy, there's always interesting new recipes to try.

Tgif!!!

Duuuuuuuuude! What a long and poo day...

All's well though :)
Today's food:
Brekky - Huge banana!
Snack - 1/2 a cup of low fat cottage cheese and a slice of wholegrain bread.
Lunch - Wholegrain wrap with honey/soy marinated lean beef, lettuce, tomato, avacado, cucumber and 1 slice of low fat cheese.
Snack - 12 raw almonds.
Dinner - Stir fry beef and garlic with shallots with white rice :( It was cooked with oil too.

OK so I'm a bit worried about the dinner, but we were invited to my stepson's place for dinner tonight and he and his girlfriend obviously cooked. I feel a bit stressed out about it to tell the truth because this is the first thing I have eaten since starting my weight loss that wasn't on my mental 'OK' list. I didn't want to be rude because my stepson was really proud to cook for us and the kids. It was a small portion though, and I did leave most of the rice. I hope this doesn't affect my weigh in tomorrow morning...

I didn't get time to exercise today :( but I did do 6 hours of cleaning and man was I sweating so that's OK :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Cross your fingers for me for tomorrow... I don't think I've lost much though, I don't feel that different.

I could hardly ever find my size too, which was so irritating. I've always been a B cup but used to be an 18. I think I was the only fat woman with small boobs, because every size 18 was always a DD etc. I can't wait to be buying 12 B's. Normality!

Not the only one... that was me too. I'd buy the 38B and then have to buy the little connectors you can get to make it bigger - it was so embarrasing when I'd be getting intimate with a guy and he would go to take my bra off and there would be so many places to undo it and he would get flustered. Once I lost the weight I lost whatever boobs I had too - now I buy the padded push-up kinds of bras. They can work wonders!
Good luck with weigh-in tomorrow!! Drink lots of water today! Have a great healthy weekend.

Hey CG - I used to buy the bra extender/connector things too when I could only find a 16B! Lol :)

Thanks Sunflower and CG - I just weighed in... just 0.6 kg today but that's pretty cool. It makes my total 8.6 lost all together now.

I'm having a rest today, but will do some small weights this afternoon. Next week is a huge week work-wise si I guess that will mean a lot more calories burnt :)

I've been hitting the DVD section at our Library this week and found 2 Biggest Loser workouts. 1 Aussie one and one American with Bob and the blonde woman (can't think of her name). Bob...:drool5::drool5::drool5::drool5::drool5: sooo hot...!
I love the Biggest Loser DVD's because you can mix and match the workouts so they're not all the same each time. Much more fun.

I have a Christmas party coming up next Friday and I'm really nervous. I think I might just eat before I go and give my meal to hubby. There will be people there I haven't seen for a while (that I don't particularly like) so I'm stressing a bit. I wanted to lose more weight before I saw them... but 'whaddaya do'.

Here's a couple of things I forgot.
I'm officially not obese anymore, just overweight.
My BMI has gone from 34 to 29.
Yay!

My list of negative things about being obese:

I always felt tired.
My skin was dreadful...
I had to wear man T-shirts.
I felt a lot older.
I spent a small fortune each week on chocolate and other treaties.
I was way more shy.
I was seriously depressed and used to cry in my car when I was alone.
I didn't want to get out of bed in the morning.
I dreaded being intimate with hubby because I was just so ashamed!
My son (he's 6) told me I was fat :(
I was a walking stereotype.
I never enjoyed exercise.
I hated myself...

Of course a lot of these things still loom around me, but they are all lessening as I lessen! :)

Awesome work on the weigh-in!! A loss is a loss and next week it will be a bigger one!
I don't think you should worry about the party too much - just lower your cals a little during the day and don't eat everything on the plate. Do an extra 10 min workout the same day or day after if you can. If you pass it up you might have to enter into uncomfortable conversation about why you don't want to eat it. Plus I don't think it's necessary. I think those people that haven't seen you in a while will still be able to see that you are losing weight or that something is different because the smile on your face will be bigger and they will be envious. If you haven't rewarded yourself yet for your losses you should buy yourself a nice new outfit to wear. I think you totally deserve it and think of all the money you have saved on chocolate!
Can't wait to hear how it goes. Enjoy your rest at the moment! Chat Monday!
