Well the weekend is over, and it's back to the grind.

I did 3 miles on the treadmill this morning. It felt pretty good. My left hip was bugging me a little bit at the end, but not too bad.

Calories were 1300 yesterday. I'm officially gluten-free again as of this morning. Hopefully in a couple days I'll be feeling much better.

I didn't weigh myself this weekend, and I might not this weekend either. It's nice not focusing on a number for a change.

How many calories does thinking about exercising burn? Got to be more than thinking about watching TV, right?

I saw this squat challenge on Pinterest yesterday, and decided I wanted to give it a go.

I completed 50 for day 1, but last night the outside of my left hip started hurting pretty bad. It was a sharp grinding pain, and definitely not pleasant. It did feel a little better this morning. I don't know if I want to keep going with that or not. I guess I could break them up into smaller sessions throughout the day, instead of doing them all at once? Maybe that would be easier on my hip. We'll see how that goes I guess.

Calories yesterday were just over 1300. Still gluten free this morning. There was a noticeable difference in my stiffness and muscle aches this morning. Nothing drastic, but I could tell. Tomorrow should be even better.

*****EDIT*****
I am not doing the squat challenge anymore.. After 4 days it was just too stressful on my joints.

I'm done with my workout for the day.

2 miles on the treadmill
1 mile on the elliptical
arm and back exercises
60 squats

Calories were around 1400 yesterday. I'm shooting for 1350 today.

So what would your average diet be?

My diet right now, because I'm doing gluten free, consists of a lot of eggs, gluten free cereal, salads, veggies, fruit, meat(chicken, steak, pork chops), baked potatoes. I'm hoping to get some gluten free bread made soon though, because I love my sandwiches. My snacks are usually a scoop of vanilla ice cream with a little drizzle of caramel or a few pieces of dark chocolate. In the past(when I lost a lot of my weight) I ate whatever I wanted, I just kept it within my calorie range. I've always been big on eating in moderation, and not depriving yourself of the foods you love. I guess I still do that now, it just has to be gluten free. :)

That's not bad, but I'd be careful with potatoes you don't want a whole lot of carbs, I would go for red potatoes or sweet potatoes instead of just normal ones, those have less carbs and has more benefits. Ice cream is OK to eat in moderation like you said but you can snack on fruit or veggies more to reduce calorie and excessive sugar intake.

Ok, so today is a rest day. I'm sore, but not too bad. I've been gluten free again for 4 days, and I can tell a difference with each passing day. It's kind of hard to differentiate the gluten aches from the workout aches right now, but I definitely feel less stiff. I think it was a good 4 or 5 days before I felt a big change last time. So I'll just keep doing what I'm doing.

I was starting to like going to the gym in the mornings, but now I'm not so sure. I might switch back to afternoons for a couple reasons... There's a couple that comes in the mornings, and brings their baby in a stroller. Why!? Why would you bring your baby to the gym? I have two kids. I know what it's like to not be able to do things because you have little ones, but seriously? Find a babysitter, or take turns going. I don't pay money to hear your kid screaming while I'm trying to work out. The other reason is that it's a lot busier in the morning. I don't really mind the amount of people, that's not a problem. It's just harder to get an open treadmill or elliptical. Yesterday I walked in, and they were all taken. So, I had to change up my routine and do other stuff first. The afternoons were a lot less busy, with only like 4 or 5 people there. Finding an open machine wasn't hard at all. So I might go back to afternoons next week.

On an unrelated note... we have a new downstairs neighbor. I think we were spoiled by the grouchy old man that lived there before. He never made a peep. I miss him.

Red potatoes I love. Sweet potatoes not as much. They're ok, but not something I could switch over to completely. It definitely wouldn't hurt to add them in more though.

That's 3,295 squats in a month. that might be overdoing it for anyone, but especially for someone with joint pain issues. With 23 active squat days you will be doing an average of about 143 squats a day. I applaud your efforts, but don't let it hurt you.

I tried a 1 to 100 daily burpees once which is 5,050 which didn't happen. I don't think I made it to 30 days if I remember correctly and I got tennis elbow, sore wrists and back for my troubles. 1 to 50 is "only" 1,275 over 50 days if you started at 1 and added on rep a day.

You can figure out you own series and total with n(n+1)/2 where "n" is the number you'll end with. So if you do 1 then 2 and keep adding each day for 30 days I will have 30(30+1)/2=465. I don't have a formula for starting at 50 and adding 10, but you can add up the string manually which is what I did.

Decided to weigh myself yesterday. I was 198.0. So I'm going in the right direction. I've went down an inch in all my measurements too! yay!

Oh, I decided to give up on the squat challenge yesterday. I'm still going to do some squats everyday, but it's not going to be anywhere near the amount that was in that challenge. That was crazy and just too much. My body does not need that kind of stress.

Congrats on the 198 anyway!

I'm also with you in the dislike of sweet potatoes. Which is a shame since they're a little better for you than the normal kind.

Thanks, MrVee!

I did actually have a sweet potato last night. It was just...eh.. ok. I think I have a mental hangup with them too. I had a pet prairie dog named Elliott for 10 years, and his favorite treat was ....you guessed it...sweet potato! So I kind of see it as a rodent food. haha! I think I can get used to having them once in a while though.

Weighed myself again today. I know I said I wasn't going to do that as much, but I was curious because I ate a little bit more than usual yesterday, about 1700 calories instead of 1300-1400. I was down to 197.8 though, so all is good. Not weighing in again until Saturday now.

I have a serious craving for sausage biscuits and gravy right now. I really need to quit watching the Food Network when I'm hungry. Everything looks so good. lol!

Wow, an inch is a huge loss for someone as close to goal as you! Nice work! I've been pretty bad with gluten since it's all I could do to manage last week eating out of a hotel kitchenette in south Texas. Since I was gone the gluten grocieris at the house were still there when I got back and I've been eating them. I'm down to frozen stuff now, but there is quite a bit. I'm hoping once I convert completely that I will see some difference in my hip pain.

Had a cheat night last night. It wasn't HORRIBLE, but it wasn't anywhere close to good either. Went to bed feeling pretty down with myself about it too. This morning was back to normal though. My calories are around 1200 right now, but I plan on having a small 100-200 calorie snack later.

I haven't been feeling the best the last few days. I'm still doing the gluten-free diet, but I'm not really feeling any benefits from it. I feel almost just as crappy as I did before. It's definitely not as noticeable as the last time I went gluten-free. Which leads me to believe it wasn't really the lack of gluten that made me feel better last time. Now that I'm sitting here thinking about it, I was stretching a LOT more last time, and I've been slacking on that recently. This past week in particular. I only managed to do two miles on the treadmill today because my hips were hurting again. I need to get back into stretching everyday. I know that makes a huge difference. I think the biggest problem is just feeling completely run down. Hopefully it goes away soon.

Well I cheated last night. Not on my calories, but on the gluten. I'm not sure if I'm going back to it or not. It really didn't seem to do anything this time around. Sooo probably not. haha!

I did two miles on the treadmill today. I might try to do a couple miles tomorrow. We'll see. :)

We all have our cheat days so I wouldn't be hard yourself if I were you. Great job on the treadmill especially if your hip is bugging you. It's good that you know that stretching will help ease the aches and pains. As you said I'd try to make sure that gets in. :)

Well, I'm back.

I've been gone a little over two months. I've went off and on track so many times in the last two months, I've lost count. I also had a writing job that was pretty much sucking up every minute of my time and stressing me out to the max.

Right now I'm currently taking it very easy though... Why, you ask? Well, I had a pulmonary embolism on May 20th, which was also my 35th birthday. Happy birthday to me! An ambulance ride was not exactly the gift I was expecting... lol.

I felt fine all day until I took the dog out at night. I went to go downstairs and had a pain in my left thigh, which they now think was a clot releasing. I started feeling nauseated outside, so I came back upstairs. I went in the bathroom because I thought I was going to throw up, but that never happened. Instead I started to feel like I was going to pass out. So, I opened up the door to go back out and wake Chef up, and woke up face down on the kitchen floor after I passed out. Chef called 911 and luckily I'm still here to type this out. :)

I had a very large blood clot that straddled both my lungs and then many smaller clots on both sides. They also discovered through an ultrasound that I have another large clot in my right thigh. Their best guess right now is that the clots were caused by my birth control medication, which I am not allowed to take ever again. I'm currently on two blood thinning medications, a shot that I have to give myself and Coumadin.

Considering all that happened I don't feel too horrible. I'm really tired and get winded just walking from the couch to the bathroom in our little apartment. But, I will take that over not being here at all.

All this has certainly renewed my motivation and I plan on doing everything I can(within doctors orders) to make sure I am healthy. I want to be here for a very long time.

I hope everyone is doing well. I'm kind of taking it easy and resting a lot, so hopefully I can get around to reading diaries this weekend.
