Jen's Diary

I don't think there would be many amongst us who do not eat when they're bored Jen. It's not logical, but then if we looked at food solely as nutrition then most of us would never have become overweight in the first place. It's good to try to put food into perspective. It has become something else.
What drawing are you working on at the moment?

Isn't weird when you realize some of your habits were not ingrained when you were a child? It is for me, anyway.
Yeah, many of bad habits were not picked up until my 20's. Well, the food related ones anyways...lol!

I'm ok with not looking at it solely as nutrition, as long as I can keep it in moderation. If I ate everytime I was bored, I'd weigh a lot more than I do now. I get bored easily. lol!

I'm still working on The Rock. He's coming along. I'm trying to take my time and get a lot of little details in there....

Food today has been pretty good. Should finish the day around 1500 calories if the snack monster stays away. I've been trying to up my steps by 500 every day. So far, so good. :)

That drawing looks amazing. My therapist got me into drawing. Im sure there's a deep reason behind it. Maybe just to occupy my time. At any rate i can now draw the best stick figures in town ;)

Thank you! Drawing is my go-to when I need to relax and not think for a while. I plug in my head phones, turn up the music, and hours can go by in what seems like a few minutes. It's also not a good idea to eat and draw at the same time. Well, not if you want to keep your paper clean anyway. So that's helpful. lol!
Great drawing Jen :D
Thank you!
Great drawing AND great calories!
Thanks, LJ!

Thanks, Cowboy and Cate!! :)

Unfortunately, The Rock still looks about the same. I haven't had the motivation and/or have been distracted with other things to work on him. lol! Hopefully I'll work on it a little this weekend.

I've been bad the last week or so. My calories have probably been around maintenance, but my food choices have been hoooorrible. *sigh*

I'm about due for my TOM, so that's not helping either. I want to eat all the carbs and chocolate. All. Of. It. I think starting on Monday I'm going to work on cutting back on my carbs again. I still want to lose at least 10 lbs in February for that dinner/award thing. OH, and I'm pretty sure Chef's parents are visiting for Spring Break, so there's more motivation for me. lol!

Other news....

Warning... If you're triggered by violent crime, don't read below, hit the back button. Go on... get outta here!

Our very small town has been shaken the last few days. We have very few murders, one every few years maybe? Some of you probably know, when you're from a small town and you hear about a murder, you just assume you're either going to know the victim, know the murderer, or know someone who knows one of them. For instance, when I was a kid, one of my cousins was murdered. When I was in high school, the lady that worked in the school office was murdered. When I was in my 20's my cousin's young son was murdered. A few years ago some guy went nuts and murdered his wife and father-in-law and took my aunt hostage. Sooooo...when crazy stuff happens you wait on pins and needles to find out if you know someone involved. This wasn't just your ordinary run of the mill murder though.... Noooope....this was a planned out psychotic torture killing. A husband and wife murdered the wife's father. I won't go into the details, but it was HORRIBLE. Like, something you'd see on one of those murder mystery shows on tv. Just gross. Luckily, I didn't personally know anyone involved. I have seen the woman involved many MANY times up at our school though. She was always yelling at her kids and making scenes in the parking lot. I could tell she probably wasn't the nicest person, but holy shit... I never imagined that she could take part in something like this. Craaaazy! Just hearing about it set off my anxiety, and it's been up for days now. I can't imagine how that family is feeling, knowing your family member died in such a horrific way. I can't deal with that. I'm hoping my anxiety settles down soon. *fingers crossed*

And I'll leave you with some cute stuff. No murdery thoughts leaving my journal, only warm fuzzies.

There, there. All better now. :p

O fuck. That´s pretty literally horrible. People are strange beasties :( More hugs on the way from this side of the world; hope the anxiety clears soon.

I imagined it as being as small as our local town, but then thought it couldn't possibly be. It is. I looked up the murder rates of Northern Michigan & got quite a shock.

Our town is pretty safe, we're on the outside of a beachy "resort" town. Most of the violent crimes are domestic disputes gone wrong. Compared to downstate it's pretty safe. For example, you don't want to go to Detroit. lol!

2000 people and several people murdered during just your lifetime? That´s... scary. "My" village has a population of 1,000, say 10,000 if you count the next village in each direction. And I know of exactly one murder around there during my lifetime of 36 years: a man killing his wife just one or two years ago. More hugs.

That would be a crazy good murder rate here. Ours is just "normal" to me. Northern Michigan is considered safe, but we're also comparing it to cities downstate, like Detroit, which has the lovely nickname of "Murder City". I think there were around 300 murders just last year. So, one every now and then is just normal to me. Sad, but true. :(

you don't want to go to Detroit
I think that's written in Latin over the front door of their City Hall.

That's a horrible story, Jen, I'm in a good-sized town, so we see it often enough to not be shocking, even the twisted stuff (lots of Section 8 housing in town, too). Too bad, too, since there's a lot of good stuff we have, too.

If not, it should be. haha!

I have thrown our dog's ball no less than a 1, 345, 838 times and she still keeps bringing it back. Never failing to set it down juuuuust out of reach. I'm counting this as an ab workout... haha! :p

I had to take chef to work this morning, because one of our cars is out of commission at the moment. Hopefully it does not cost a lot to fix it. It's the one we plan on replacing soon, so I don't want to dump a bunch of money into it. Also..it's a piece of shit. haha!

Our heat hasn't been working right this week, so the maintenance dude was here earlier... it's toasty warm in here now! Yay for heat!! :hurray:

I don't know what we're doing this weekend. Chef asked me out on a date this weekend :beating:, but that will depend on the weather, and it looks like it might be iffy. So if we don't go out, we'll probably just stay in and do something fun.

Anxiety has calmed down a little, so that's nice as well. :)
