I haven't done a detox for ages. I might in a couple of weeks if i Plateau though.
 
Sorry you were sick Jennifer, look at the sunny side, I'm sure you've lost some pounds!:) I hope this is some help to you........

Hey, can of metamucil $11.00,...husband appreciation priceless, however his lunch kit and boots were dumped at the back door for me....ohhhhhh sooooo under valued!!!!!!
 
Jumped on the scale today just to see if my weight loss from being sick didnt come back on as it so often does...and to my wondering eyes should appear...another two lb gone....which means even if its for a fleeting moment in time I have hit my second goal and have now lost 50 lbs,..half way there....i wont make it official til next monday and if it still off then I really did lose it!!!!!!!!

Hope your feeling better. Congratz on reaching your 50lb target!! (hopefully it'll stay off)

I have two kinds of detox that i do depending on what the problem is.

I do a IBS diet/detox, which involves dropping all dairy products (even yogurt), protien, caffiene, fat and food colors/preservatives for a few days and eating mainly "soluble fiber" foods. (rice, potatoes white bread) with salad and non citrus fruits. I also up the amount of fiber suppliment I take. (i take benefiber cause metamucil makes me bloated :eek: ) Then u gradualy add protien and non soluble fiber etc back into your diet. Difficult to get it to fit with your weight loss diet though. is a great site.

Otherwise I cut out the cafiene, alcohol, refined sugar and anything with preservatives/colors in it, up my water and try to stay away from processed foods.

I did the 4,3,2,1 detox and diet. Which made me feel good and helped me shed a few lbs (they went back on though, but then i didn't do the maintenence programe - oops). It's a mixture you add to a litre of water and drink throughout the day, for 10 days.
 
Thanks apple...the first one doesnt sound for me as I really dont want the white bread, rice and all that...I have worked so hard to ween myself from all of that!

The second one I try to do naturally ...except for the caffiene, I am a bit of a morning coffee drinker...I presume decaf coffee kinda is defeating the purpose in a detox. Something I am considering anyway, everything you read says....no caffeine.
Over looking my diet I am doing pretty good on the no refined processed foods and I think that is what is making this diet work. I even make all my own soups, no processed meat,...and after last weekend pizza will be off my list.

I am also going to look into the 4321 detox you mention...I hear that liver detox is good too. I just think that with all this weight loss the body could use some extra help getting rid of all the extra toxins, I am not doing the detox for weight loss per say. I have been doing some reading on what happens with the body when it looses weight,...all kinda too graphic and a lil gross,...all I will say is I think its a good idea if done in moderation.
 
New motivation: Four families including mine (we all hang out together regularly) have booked cabins together by the lake this summer. Water sports, horse back riding, swimming pool, hiking, volley ball, tennis...yep so you got it ....bathing suits, shorts...and probably pictures being taken. :eek:
Five months to get my beach towel hiding butt (can I say that here) in gear and wear a bathing suit in public. I am going to do it.

Is that the weight loss or the reading!! :p

Since I started on this "diet", even though i'm eating healthier food and drinking more water I've never had so many spots in my life!! Is that cause I'm loosing weight?

I think the 4,3,2,1 detox is the least painful of the detox programes i've done, and i felt great afterwards. I think it's got lots of things to boost your metabolism in it (green tea etc).
 
Yes apple absolutley....however if you keep up with the program you are doing it will turn around. Its like when you get a facial it gets worse before it gets better. Things like bad breathe, coated tongue, spots, even changes in your cycle are all signs that the body is riding itself of toxins. My skin did the same, however now my skin is really clear and people have even noticed, my hair and nails are growing like crazy. Makes sense if the system is clean things can work better.

So I take it you have to buy the stuff for the 4,3,2,1, and there is no eating for a week,...not even fruit? I wonder if eating only fruit and veggies for a week with water would be ok while you do it?
