Jay Can Do It! - Weight Loss Diary

That's often the most toughest question Jay, because we probably wouldn't all be here if we LIKED ourselves that much (!). Kate is right about C2K - it revolutionised my exercise life as well. I love running now and I would have fallen off a chair laughing if someone had said I'd be saying that a year ago.

I wish I could run! But I'm still walking for now and doing Zumba.

How has your day gone today mate?

Well it's kind of meh at the moment. I just finished my workout, and I had quite a hard time for some reason. But I pushed myself and I managed to burn 1000 calories, and then I collapsed. xD Oh, BUT I dropped another lb today! It's so exciting seeing the numbers decrease. It's frustrating though because I can't really tell the difference in my body. I've already lost 15 or so lbs, but I still look the same! I took a picture in late september but I'm going to wait until after October to look at it. I'm HOPING my stomach will be smaller than last time.

(Day 23) Wednesday, October 19, 2011

I've been having a problem for the last few days. I hope someone can help!

But first off, my diet has been going great, and my exercises even better. Ever since I got the Bowflex watch I have been burning over twice the amount of calories than if I didn't get it. I really have to challenge myself to stay in the 70%+ Heart rate range for maximum calorie burn, but it's worth it!

The problem I have though is my sleeping. I keep having dreams that wake me up frequently at night, and I keep waking up twice or three times a night! It's seriously making me lose some sleep. Yesterday alone I woke up twice: once at 2AM, and once at 5AM, and I couldn't sleep until 7AM. It was really frustrating! The dreams are also very weird.

First dream: I was reliving a moment during 9/11. Everything was hectic and the building was crashing down. It was so vivid and scary. It woke me up

Second dream: I tripped and fell for some reason. I woke up.

Third dream: My brother is possessed by a demon and I have to figure out how to exorcise him. This is the scariest dream for me because I absolutely FEAR exorcisms and anything relating to Linda Blair. The whole topic itself gives me the heeby jeebies.

Fourth dream: I am the father of a baby. And I end up accidentally dropping him/her down a flight of steps.

Some dreams are reoccuring, such as the baby dreams. Others just come out of no where. Overall they are more nightmarish than dream. Can I not have at least one good night's rest? It's driving me crazy!

Apart from that everything is going well. I hope you guys have a great day!

AHeya

I have days when working out seems soooooooo much harder and i feel really rubbish afterwards. No idea why but i have just got use to it now. Just remember the days when you feel totally on top of the world after a work out, that's what i try to do.

Don't stress too much about not noticing anything yet. It will come. I went from not noticing to freaking out at the person in the mirror not being me. Trust me it will come. You are doing so so well hun, don't go feeling crappy about it. Stay positive!!!!

Yay :hurray: another lb... Focus on that.

Take another picture at the end of oct, and keep taking them, lots of pictures are good. Even if you don't see the difference the time will come when you do. I don't know if you have read all of my diary but i have pictures on there and some don't look too different but others have blown me away. I didn't take a before picture or measure myself because i was convinced that i would fail AGAIN!!! and i so wish i did. My first picture was after i had lost 10lb. It also took me along time to have the courage to post them on here.

Ooooh, i kept meaning to say. Don't worry about lose skin, you are 18. My doctor said that it shrinks back fine up til the age of 25-30 Keep working out and you will have that six pack you are after. Unlike me who is too old and does have saggy skin but hey ho, i should have done something about when i was your age.

(Day 24) Thursday, October 20, 2011

I was so tired this morning. I woke up quite early, around 7AM actually, to throw out the trash and I couldn't get back to sleep! I also didn't feel like exercising. My body was just declining the whole idea of working out, but thankfully after a good whole breakfast I'm back on track.

Day 24 - When did you first notice your hard work paying off?
Day 25- When you reach your goals, what do you plan on doing to maintain your results?
Day 26 - What excites you most about reaching your goals?
Day 27 - How do you stay on track in tempting situations? (e.g. BBQs, Birthday parties, out with friends, etc.)

Day 29 - Your definition of beauty.
Day 30 - 10 facts about you! And now, what are your stats?

Day 24 - When did you first notice your hard work paying off?

Someone told me that I lost some weight. And I was quite happy about it =). Of course I don't notice my body getting smaller, but as long as other people do that's all that matters right? xD

Okay so my workout endurance was even WORSE today. I could barely get past my initial hour, and I was too tired to get to Zumba. However I burned about 100 more calories than yesterday, so I probably was more intense or something. Whatever the case I'm crossing my fingers hoping I drop another pound tomorrow.

I think it's the Fall weather honestly. It just got recently dark (like no sun until 8AM dark), and I think the gloominess is really affecting my schedule! I don't like working out in the dark because I tend to think it's still night and I should still be sleeping or something. xD I better get off that mind set soon!

Why do I have butterflies in my stomach?

Are you guys nervous about the whole holiday thing? I don't know about you all but I'm feeling a tingling of excitement and nervousness right now. I'm excited because it's the holidays, and that means family gatherings and presents and Christmas lights and all that good stuff. And I'm nervous because I don't know if I'll make my goal of 200 by thanksgiving! I don't even know if I'll be skinny enough to make any good impressions. I'll be so sad if I don't surprise anyone.

I don't know why I'm like that, but I just am.

Well, let's do the math.

So far I've been losing about 2-3 lbs every week (apart from the failure last week). There's 5 weeks till Thanksgiving. So that leaves me a range of 10lbs-15lbs lost in the next few weeks, leaving me at 201-195. And that's if I don't make any mistakes from now on. I'm on the borderline!

Maybe the tingling isn't nervousness, or anything to do with the holidays. Maybe I'm just...happy? Excited? Proud of myself that I'm doing something good for once in my life? Just now, imagining myself at 195 gave me a huge spine shiver.

Proud of myself... That's a new feeling.

I hope you guys have an awesome day!

Hi Jay, great work on the loss so far, you've got a good chance of reaching your Christmas goal and even if you miss it by a pound or two, you'll still know that you're moving in the right direction.

Keep it up!

Thank you! Yes, I try to remind myself that as long as I'm moving forward I shouldn't worry about anything. But worrying is almost second nature for me so, meh. I'll get better with the self-bickering, I promise.

xD Thank you. I haven't heard from you in a while and I've been meaning to check back on your diary. I'll be sure to do so later on in the day.

For now..I think I'm going to take a nap. That workout was a total killer on my body.

Ugh....it's like every day my body is getting weaker and weaker. I didn't even get to 1000 calories burned today!

I think the problem is fatigue. I'm probably working my body too hard, so tomorrow I'll just rest and recup for the workout on Sunday.

I'm not sure honestly. I haven't thought out that far! xD

I think I'll eat right around my maintenance level for 140 lbs. I'll exercise everyday like I'm doing right now, and I'm still not going to eat any fatty foods. I think that's a good idea, right?

(Day 26) Saturday, October 22, 2011

Alright, so today's a new day. I weighed myself on the scale and I'm still bottoming out at the weight I was before. I was So worried that I gained a few pounds off of the buffet yesterday but I guess I was just being paranoid.

I tried taking pictures of myself to show you guys. After 200 some photos I didn't like any of them so I threw them all away. Sorry :(. Maybe when I'm a few lbs skinnier.

If I were to be very, very honest, it's to show off to all the people that have called me fat. xD I want to show off my skinnier-me to all my family members and friends. I don't know, I just find that so satisfying.

I am also going into the medical field. I'm going to be a nurse first (just to get my feet wet), and then I'll take classes to be a pediatric doctor. If I was a fat doctor or nurse I would get NO respect at all, so I think it's best to serve as that health role model and be healthy myself.

(Day 27) Sunday, October 23, 2011

Hey guys!

I just came back from a really bad day out (AGAIN). I managed to not snack out on anything terrible, and I didn't ruin my day calorie wise (at least I think...I have yet to run down the calculations). However the calories aren't good - white rice, thick sauces, a bite from a hot dog. However I restocked on good whole food today so I'm going to be GREAT this week.

Also, today is WEIGH DAY.

Last Week Was: 213-216 pounds

This Week: 210-214 pounds

So I dropped about 3 lbs last week, which is AWESOME considering I had 2 or 3 terribad diet days. Hopefully next week will bring the same results =).

I'm not good in tempting situations at all. If the food is right there before me I have ZERO willpower to not indulge. My technique is to stay out of tempting situations in the first place. Out of sight, out of mind.
