Jaclyn's diary

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhh

I have a stomach bug/flu/food poisoning...something. I got bad heartburn yesterday, and then I left work early and slept it off, then stupidly went out with friends for Mexican food. I have never regretted anything more in my life. I threw up five times this morning. Ughhhh. It hurts so bad. That's all for now.

Owch. I did that once, only with Little Caesar's. Hopefully it's just a bug and will pass. Hope you feel better.

Hey there girl... I haven;t responded to your diary for a while, and I'm sad to hear that you aren't feeling too well... hope things are better!!! And now hopefully I'll be around a bit more to continue getting amazing encouragement from you... you really are an inspiration for me!!

Okay everyone. I'm back. I went into the emergency room on Monday night and it turns out my "food poisoning" was actually pancreatitis and gallstones. I was admitted to the hospital and they had to take my gallbladder out on Friday. Right now I'm in a lot of pain. I hope to be able to resume my diet and normal life in the next few days. I missed you guys.

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. I'm trying to get back on the wagon here. I've been drinking a lot of juice and Gatorade, but not eating much. It's really hard to get back into the swing of things. I'm still in a lot of pain and I'm not allowed to do any exercising, aside from regular walking for awhile. This whole thing has really sucked. I've been doing a lot of reading and apparently this is very normal for people who lose a lot of weight and follow a low fat diet. What happens is the gallbladder stops producing enough bile to break down fats in foods because it doesn't have to very often, but then after awhile when fatty foods are consumed the gallbladder gets confused and tries to work harder to produce bile to break down the fats. Then gallstones form, causing pain. So all this time I've thought I had heartburn I actually had gallstones. Last week one of my gallstones got stuck in the tube that connects to my pancreas, causing pancreatitis, which can be fatal. So after three days of no food or drink (IV fluids only) the pancreatitis went away and then the surgeon just took my gallbladder out so it wouldn't happen again. Hot damn.

Today I've eaten:
Fat free Morning Glory Muffin (120)
Light Dannon Yogurt (60)
Capt Crunch in Skim (200)
Blueberries (50)
Toast (165)
Fruit Cup (90)
Capt Crunch (100)

Lots of juice and Gatorade too. I'm on lots of medication, so I have to stay hydrated.

Oh man.... the human body is so confusing!
Do this, dont do that, do this but not to quickly, not to slowly either, but dont forget this without that.... etc......
Hope you're feeling better soon! ;)

Oh honey sorry to here of your misadventure I hope you start feeling a lot better real soon lots of hugs

Thanks everyone! I'm feeling better everyday. I went to work yesterday and I'm going again today. Everything is going well. I have no appetite though. I went to sleep early yesterday. Here was my food for yesterday:

Breakfast:
Fat free Morning Glory muffin (120)
Light yogurt (60)

Lunch:
Whle Wheat Wrap with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles and honey mustard (200)

Dinner:
Whole Wheat Elbow Macaroni with Sauce and Grilled Portobello Mushrooms (300)

Dessert:
Fat Free Fudge Bar (60)

I also had several glasses of juice, which probably added about 500 calories. I was talking to someone yesterday who told me his wife lost 50 pounds after having her gallbladder removed. Hopefully something good will come out of this and I'll lose more, because right now I'm stuck on 180.

oooh is that all it takes to lose 50 lbs? J/K
You've been through alot, soon you will get "unstuck" and back to losing in no time. Until then, take good care of yourself.

Thanks Christina!

Breakfast:
Egg Beaters (60)
Watermelon, Strawberries, and Pineapple (80)

Snack:
Special K Bar (90)

Lunch/Dinner:
Captain Crunch in Skim (200)
More Watermelon, Strawberries, and Pineapple (100)

Snack:
Fat Free Popcorn (100)

More juice and gatorade...

180 is really a plateau in and of itself, isn't it? I know so many people who are "stuck" there. (Me included...) (Of course, I know LOTS of peopel who list 180 on their driver's license, too...)
But, if anyone can do it, it is YOU, Fuunky!

Haha, thanks Scrappy! Let me just tell you, when I was well over 200 and I was asked my weight I always said 180. It cracks me up now.

I've been feeling better from my surgery everyday, and I'm so glad to have the stupid gallbladder out! My stomach feels so much better, I'm craving vegetables which made me sick before, and I'm not waking up in the middle of the night with horrible pains. Everything is better. My appetite is slowly coming back. Slowly.

Breakfast:
Bagel with Cream Cheese (Aghhh, my boss brought them for the meeting. Blah) (400)

Lunch:
Publix Veggie Sub with lettuce, tomato, onion, green pepper, olives, pickles, honey mustard, oil and vinegar and salt and pepper on wheat (200)

Dinner:
1/2 Veggie Salami Sandwich on Pumpernickel with a smear of honey balsamic (220)
Sauteed Portobello Mushrooms (50)

So, you had a Publix sub. I'm soooo jealous!! LOL Since moving to SC we don't go to Publix anymore. (There are a few Publix stores here, but not in our town.) :( My three year old always reminds us that Publix was his favorite store. I don't think he has a new favorite, but he does talk about Food Lion (which I've only been to a few times... we wind up going to WalMart). But, boy, a sub from Publix was always such a treat for me.
I'm glad you are doing well!
