Inspired, motivated, and READY!!! :)

The run is done!

Hey guys! I just got back from the run and let me tell you it was a blast!!! My feet hurt sooooo bad though from the blisters (I just keep running on them and making them worse! lol) and my shins are hurtin' for certain but other than that it's all good! :D

Here's how it all went:

We got in the runner's lane and stood there for a good 15 minutes before the race was going to start. I had so much energy, I was so pumped to get going! I had that nervous/excited feeling in my stomach, I just couldn't wait. The horn went off and since there was a good amount of runners in front of us, we walked/slowly jogged until we were able to spread out and get a move on! I broke through the crowd and was ready to rock!

People passing me kept sweeping up against me and after a few times of this happening someone knocked my iPod right off my arm!!! There it is laying on the concrete and there is a huge stampede behind me! I screamed "FUCK!!!!" and stopped to get it... and was really lucky that no one crushed it! So I saved it and got back in the game.

We had 2 laps to go around the zoo. The first lap was pretty easy. I was passing a lot of people, too. I came to the dreaded hill and saw a girl about my age running up it in front of me - her left leg was bent in and appeared shorter than the other (I believe she may have had arthritis... that is what this run was for) and she was running like there was no tomorrow! This was so inspiring for me to see - I was like YOU GO GIRL!!!! I knew there would be NO stopping for me then and I didn't stop once!!!!

I crossed the finish line at 29:55 and thought I was going to throw up for sure as soon as I stopped! But I didn't :D Anyways... I was SOOO proud of myself! I beat my time of 31 minutes and made it under a half hour!!! This was a great accomplishment for me. I wonder what my time would have been if it weren't for the obstacles of people around me, the slow start, and losing my iPod for a second there!

So it was a great morning. My boyfriend's younger brother crossed the finish around 28 minutes, and my boyfriend crossed at 33 minutes. We went to George Webb's after and I had myself 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, and 2 sausage links... yeah.... I ate it ALL!!! It was soooo yummy and I didn't even feel bad about it!

I just want to say thank you to everyone who has shown support for me on here!!!! YOU GUYS ROCK!!!! :hurray:

Let's have an awesome week now, shall we? :D
~ Sarah

Damn!! Nice job getting under that 30 min mark. You know you pushed yourself when you feel like launching your breakfast when you're done.

Wooo! We're so proud of you.:grouphug:

CONGRATS SARAH!! I'm so proud of you! Definitely makes me want to start running :D If you don't mind, would you send me your running workout? I want to start it asap :)

 CONGRATULATIONS!!! That's really incredible that you can say not only that you finished, but with your best time to date!! Thank god you didn't lose your ipod. That would have put a huge black mark on the whole rest of your race. Can't wait to hear how your feeling in the morning... gonna feel muscles you didn't even know you had ;) Ice Ice Baby!!

Way to kick off our TOTALLY AWESOME WEEK!!!!

Nice work Sarah! That's so exciting! I love the post about the scale mentality too! Looks like you had a good weekend. I'm ready to kill it this week - I wish I didn't have to work and could spend all my time at the gym. I also wish I would have woke up early to get there - oh well I'm going after work for a double work out to make up for it. Keep it up!

Thanks everyone!!! :D

Surprisingly I wasn't very sore this morning! I went to the gym, ran a mile on the treadmill to warm up, then did the elliptical with resistance and incline and also did the bike. It was a nice work out :)

For breakfast I had banana yogurt with granola (175 cal) and an egg (70 cal). Yummmm. Now I gotta hurry and get ready for class and finish an outline that I have been putting off for the past week and it's due at 12:30 today!!! Eeek!!!

I'll check journals and post as soon as I can!

It's Monday everyone... here we go!

Awesome!! I thought for sure you'd be hurting this morning. Must have been all the adrenelin that kicked in double time when you lost the ipod ;)

Happy Monday Sarah!! Gonna be a fabulous week :D:D:D

Good morning!

Oohhh boy... I am soooo tired today!! I have a pretty big exam this morning... I hope it goes good! I'm sort of nervous :( But I studied for almost 4 hours in the library last night so I BETTER do good! lol

This morning I ran a 5K on the treadmill. I did arms and abs after that... I feel good! :D

Today for breakfast I had half a bagel w/cream cheese (175 cal) an apple (80 cal) and some cottage cheese (60 cal). Oh and last night my calories came to about 1,500 so I was on track with that... didn't drink really any water at all though!!! Today I'm gonna make sure I'm drinking enough.

When all my classes are done I'm going to go to Goodwill and try on some jeans.... maybe buy some because I don't want to spend too much on a pair that I won't be fitting into in a few months ;) hah!

Have a great day everyone!!!

Good luck on your exam - I always saved all my studying to the last minute and then would pull an all nighter reading the whole txt book - it worked for me but I didn't retain any of the information - oh well I got my diploma.
Good idea going to goodwill! I think I might do that on my lunch break - I did buy a couple things at Zellers but those are too big now too! The thing with our goodwill here is they charge too much! I went there one day and they were charging $15 for a pair of jeans - come on someone gave them away for free and I could get a new pair at Walmart for that price. I think if they lowered their prices more people would shop there and then there would be more money for the needy! Oh well it's still cheaper I guess.
Awesome work starting the week off! Water, water, water - especially because it's that time of month! good luck again on the test!

Yes, GOOD LUCK on your exam this morning, and jean shopping. There was a time when I'd rather be writing an exam then clothes shopping ;)

And thanks for you ab workout... I'll be giving it a try this morning :D

Thanks! The exam went well! :) I hope the jean prices at goodwill aren't too bad - the one's that I have gone too, they are usually somewhere around $8. I hope thats the case because I don't like how my baggy jeans are looking!

Thanks! I'm sooo glad the exam is over... just 2 more classes til I can relax and go shopping! Retail therapy for sure lol let me know how the ab workout goes! :)

I can't wait to get home and have a nice lunch and get to drinking more water! I only had 24 oz today (this morning at the gym) so if I have 3 more water bottles I will be close to 100 oz! That's easy enough :p I'm feeling so good about this week already... I hope I pull through with a good weigh in on Friday because the last 2 weeks I have gone up - well the difference is I didn't drink this past weekend so I better see a drop! I might switch my weigh-ins to Saturday mornings perhaps..... There is always a drastic change from Friday morning to Saturday morning (close to 2 pounds) and I feel like this might have something to do with eating food at home rather than at school! Even though I don't eat like crap at school... but I do have more snacks hangin' around here... :) haha.... we'll see though! Weekend's gonna be here before we know it!!!! :D

Just a few quick things here before I go to bed...

I bought 2 pairs of jeans at Goodwill today. I got a pair of Express jeans in size 6 and Gap jeans in size 4. Both of the jeans fit comfortably in the legs and butt, however the waist on both are a little tight so I'm going to work my way into them and hopefully by Christmas they will fit comfortably! :) I also bought a sweatshirt, a t-shirt, a cardigan, and a long sleeve shirt. Only spent $30 so that was a pretty sweet deal I must say! :D

After my shopping extravaganza, my boyfriend came over for a visit. We made a buffalo chicken baked dip. I found the recipe in another thread and just had to try it out! It was delicious - but I didn't go overboard. I shared a bowl of the dip with my boyfriend and stopped there (minus a few tastes as I was pouring the rest into a tupperware container). So basically this replaced my dinner... crappy! :ack2: I ate a banana, a clementine, and a strawberry yogurt chex 100 calorie pack afterwards. So I really just snacked - boooo! ALSO, I only drank 48 ounces of water! :( I filled my bottle up again but I put it in the fridge for the gym in the morning because I don't feel like drinking too much before bed to get up and pee all night!

Last thing - I'm going to change my weigh-in's to Saturday mornings. I have found that when I weigh myself on Saturday's, the number is quite different from Friday and this is where I'm seeing the drops from week to week as opposed to gains from Friday to Friday. I'll still weigh in on Friday's but I'm going to start tracking my Saturday weigh-in's now. I'm going to adjust my ticker to this last Saturday's weight.

Okay... I wrote a little more than I anticipated... lol :) Time for bed now!

Goodnight,
~ Sarah

Just read through most your journal. I'd forgotten all about Toppers Pizza. :drool5: Those things probably packed on quite a few of the pounds I'm taking of now.

You've been rocking it pretty steadily for awhile now. Way to go on hitting your goals!! :beerchug: You still getting shin splints? They used to make me so mad when they ruined my workout, :cuss: but ever since I started running outside they're gone. Not sure if it's getting off the treadmill or if my body's just adapted. I tried the frozen peas a few times. Haha.

Keep on rockin!

30 bucks?!?!? Thats awesome!!

Don't feel bad about your 'snacks for supper' night. It must be something in the air b/c I have just felt like crap all evening so my supper consisted of a bowl of soup, 2 tortellini's, and a halloween nips :ack2:

I've been going with my Sat weigh in results too... why are they so different?? Weird...

Have a good night.

Yeah, I think Toppers pretty much every week my freshman year of college MAY have had something to do with my weight gain :D So hard to resist though!!! Shin splints haven't been SO bad since I started running outside... I still ice them after a run outside though. They usually hurt pretty bad after the first mile but then I just run through them and they don't hurt lol :)

Stupid snacks :( Well I took out some pork chops to make for dinner tonight so that way I have a meal and won't be picking around looking for something to eat and end up snacking! I hope the Saturday weigh-in's work out better. I think for me it's because I work all day Friday, so whatever I bring with me to work to eat is all I have and by the time I get home I just have something small cuz it's too late for dinner. I'm not sitting around at home wondering "what can I eat?" or "where should I go out to eat?" So I guess work helps :D

This morning was SO. HARD. for me to wake up!!!!!!!! It seems like it's getting harder and harder every day but I have got to stick to it!

I ran a mile on the treadmill and walked to 15 minutes, then I did 15 minutes on the elliptical with resistance and incline, and I ended with 10 minutes on the bike. I did a little bit of arms and abs after. Not really a GREAT workout but since it's so nice out today, I plan to do a run outside this afternoon. 5K for sure, but if I could go round 2 that would be pretty much amazing :D I'll try it for sure if I'm feeling up to it!!!

I ate a banana before my workout this morning. After my workout I had oatmeal, 2 eggs scrambled, and a rice cake.

That's all for now..... I'll update this after my run this afternoon if something amazing happens and I decide to give 6.5 miles a shot! Oh boy....

Happy hump day! It's almost the weekend for me.... crazy!!!
~ Sarah

Good Morning Sarah,
Size 6 and size 4! That is amazing! And all that stuff for $30 is so cool! Don't stress the snacks for dinner - I do that sometimes too when I forget to take out food from the freezer. It's not necessary more calories then you would have with a meal so no worries. I was thinking about doing 10K on the treadmill soon too - it's tooo cold here for me to go outside - i'm a wimp in the winter. I don't think I would try to do it really fast - just see that I can do it. I'm thinking of signing up for a half marathon in the Spring so that is going to motivate me to keep the treadmill performance up.
It's a holiday today - Rememberance Day and I could of had the day off but I have lots to catch up on and my weigh-in, is in an hour so I'll be back to update you on that. I forgot my shorts and only have jeans on so I'm not expecting a loss, hopefully it won't be a big gain - still motivated though so that's good. Have a great day!

YES!!! You should TOTALLY sign up for a half marathon in Spring. I'm going to sign up for one that is on May 30th... I've already got 4 people that want to do it with me! :) It's a great goal to work towards and a good way to remind yourself that you gotta keep pushing because you have a huge run to do!!!

Well everyone... I officially did it! I ran 10K non-stop in an hour! Okay, an hour and one minute but who's counting? :p I thought running a straight 5K last week was something to be proud of... but DAMN... I really did that?!?!!? :D

I'm going to have to give a little shout out here to someone that made this possible for me today: Marathon Man
First of all, he is the reason that I have decided to sign up for the Madison half marathon in May! I did not know about it until I read his journal. And second, he ran 8 straight miles yesterday without stopping! This amazed me because I could see how fast he has progressed already from running - so I figured, why shouldn't I give it a shot and see what I can do?! :D So a big THANKS to YOU Marathon Man!!!

Running outside is soooo much easier than running on a treadmill! Who woulda thought? It's too bad it's almost winter here in Wisconsin... not much time left for nice running weather!

Now it's time to clean my room, fold some laundry, do some homework, pack for the weekend, and make dinner! I'm going to make some pork chops with cauliflower and I'll have some applesauce and maybe bread w/butter oh yummmm :) All of it's pretty light on the calories, plus I just worked a lot of whatever I ate this morning off so I have room for it!

Check ya later :coolgleamA:
