I'm back! (for good this time)

I think it is hardest to eat at restaurants, because the portion sizes are usually enormous. Sounds like you managed a good bit of control. I'm not ready to test those waters quite yet.

In my job in the Spring to early Summer I do lots of trade shows, live in hotels and eat all my meals in restaurants or from snack bars. There's also the occasional adult beverage (occasions like dinner, and after dinner, and 8:00 and 8:30 and 9:00 and...)

So I have until next May to work out a strategy, then I go to Germany for a week of pig and beer! By then I hope to be at my target so I don't want to torpedo my progress.

Sound like you have a good handle on yours!

Hey David! Thanks alot for commenting in my journal! I'm really glad to have you here...That sounds like a good time in Germany! Remember to just let loose a little bit and enjoy yourself, but of course don't go completely overboard with the pig and the beer :) As for last night, man my eating was absolutly horrendous! I'm really embarassed to say what I had but I need to face the music so I'm less likely to do it again...I had a snickers bar, some chips and salsa, some sundried tomato and basil wheat thins, sunchips, chocolate kisses and mini milk chocolate bars, a few bites of fudge, and I believe thats finally it lol. Soooo much food I know and to much of a calorie overload, I really have no idea why I did it, I started off by telling myself I was just gonna have that one snickers bar and it all went downhill from there. I was feeling really ashamed of myself but I decided that I'm not going to dwell on it and go on complete binge mode for days and days like I would have before. I need to get in control of myself and I need to do it NOW! Today my eating is much much better, today so far I've had 1 cup of coffee with splenda and a few drops of 1% milk, and a bowl of Life cereal with 1% milk. For lunch I had an Eating Right TV dinner (chicken enchalada with rice) with a couple tablespoons of salsa) and 1 granny smith apple. Right now I'm sipping on some Japanese Green Tea with splenda. For some reason I was just really craving some green tea, I always had that in the morning when I was going to school and I hadn't had it since the summer started so I just really wanted some lol. This is a good sign, hopefully I'll be craving green tea in the afternoon's rather than ice cream and sweets lol. As for exercise today, I havn't done any form of intense exercise but I did go into the vegetable garden this morning and completely weeded it, and then I swept the front and the backyeard. Hopefully I burned some calories by doing those things right? Tomorrow hopefully dad and I are going to Bally Total Fitness tomorrow, I'm actually quite exited to get back into the routine again. Anyways, I will report on dinner tonight when I get the chance, have a great day everyone!

Ok just reporting on dinner, as we speak I am eating a large taco salad with pace salsa from Taco Time. I always get this salad whenever we go to Taco Time because it's delicious, full of protein, and only about 500 to 600 cals without dressing I believe, which is definitly not bad for a good, hearty dinner. I might have a snack later tonight if I get hungry and I usually do at night when we eat an early dinner, so I'll just have a piece of fruit or something. I feel really good that I'm not binge eating myself into oblivian and not pigging out on haagen daz ice cream :)

Saturday July 28th 2007

Hey everyone! Just reporting on my day so far. This morning I had a bowl of Life cereal with 1% milk for breakfast and I had a cup of coffee with splenda. Then an hour after breakfast (about 10:) my dad took me to the Bally Total Fitness so I can work out (he didn't work out with me today because he had some stuff to take care of) And at the gym I did cardio on the elliptical machine for 35 minutes (30 minutes intensely working out, 5 minute cool down) on the program "random" at level 8, (burned about 430 cals) then I went on the treadmill for 10 minutes (burned another 50 cals) then I did some upper body strength training (I worked out my back today) and I would go into detail about what I did but it's just to complicated to explain lol. Then after the gym my dad picked me up at 1:15 then we headed to Costco for some shopping. By the time we got there I was starving because I didn't have any lunch before we went so I had a polish sausage hot dog with mustard and onions, and my dad got a slice of pizza. I believe the hot dog is about 500 cals ( I remember looking up the nutrition facts somewhere) so it wasn't a total calorie overload. And for dinner were having meaty lasagna, garlic bread, and green beans. I plan to have a moderate piece of the lasagna (one up is 400 cals) 1 slice of bread, and some green beans. I think I'll also have some fruit on the side to, like some strawberry's and blueberries or something (I love combining my fruits lol). And thats it as far as food and activity goes...I'm actually really upset today because I lost my pink iPod at the gym! I left it on the treadmill and I didn't even realize it until it was time to go, when I finally did realize it I rushed to go get it but it was gone! I went to the front desk to see if anyone turned it in but nobody did :( I'm so mad at myself for even leaving it in the first place, and on the other hand I'm so mad that somebody found it and didn't turn it in! I don't know what people get out of taking things that don't belong to them, don't they even think how stealing there stuff affects the owners? Well, as mad as I am right now, I'm not going to let it depress me. Theres no way my parents are going to get me a new iPod because they;ve already gotten 2 for me, so what I plan to do is earn the money to get my own iPod. I asked my mom if she would pay me a weekly allowance every Sunday if I do chores around the house, and thankfully she is willing to do that. So all is not lost, I WILL be getting a new iPod, only this time I'm going to earn it and feel proud of myself when I finally have that new iPod in my hands :) Have a great night everyone!

Oh wow, I plan on weighing myself in the morning and I already have butterflies in my stomach!! I really really hope I have a good weigh in tomorrow!! I'll report how I did whether I like it or not :)

Oh wow, I plan on weighing myself in the morning and I already have butterflies in my stomach!! I really really hope I have a good weigh in tomorrow!! I'll report how I did whether I like it or not :)

Ok everyone, I just weighed myself, I'm now at 157 pounds, and I was 158 pounds before I left on vacation, so therefore I've only lost 1 pound in about 2 weeks! I can't say I'm really that surprised though because of all the ice cream I ate while on vacation and not ot mention my 2 nights of binge eating when I was on vacation and when I came home, so I guess I should be grateful that I lost something right?? Oh well, time to kick it up a couple of notches now! I only have until September before I go back to school and I want to go back looking GOOD! So it's time to get serious here, I don't know how often I'm gonna get to go to the gym because my brother is going to the hospital tomorrow to get examined and we don't know if he
is gonna be there for a couple of days or for a week, and one of my parents has to be at the hospital 24/7, but I am going to control my eating and my portions as much as possible and I might even try one of those exercise movies on On Demand if I can't make it to the gym, wish me luck everyone!! Right now I just got done drinking a cup of green tea with splenda (I think I have a green tea obsession now lol) and right now I'm gonna go get some Life Cereal with 1% milk and blueberries. I'll report on lunch and dinner when it happens, have a great day everyone!

Hey at least you didn't gain weight right? Vacations are not so good for me in terms of weight loss, so sounds like you did great!

David C

Hey thanks alot David! That made me feel alot better, vaxations never use to be so good for me as far as food goes because before I started caring about my weight I would just eat whatever was in sight and didn't think nothing of it. I know I could never go back to doing that again even if I wanted to (and trust me sometimes it's really tempting lol) For lunch today I had a lean cuisine supreme pizza (370 cals) and thats it, wasn't really that hungry but wanted to eat something cause I knew if I didn't I'd pay for it later lol. I'm about to go get another cup of green tea (I hear drinking 2 cups of green tea a day has alot of antioxidents so I think I'm gonna start drinkng 2 cups daily and minimizing my coffee intake. Surprisingly I think I like the taste of green tea better (which is huge since I'm a huge coffee lover lol) I have no idea whats gonna be for dinner yet but I will report on that when it comes. I'll be posting later!

Ok so I didn't do so great at dinner.....Dad got Kentucky Fried Chicken (I admit that we eat fast food alot more than we should) and I had one chicken breat (so I did not pick off the skin, I know I should have) A little scoop of mashed potatos with gravy, a little bit of coleslaw (I LOVE there coleslaw, most likely full of fat though cause of the dressing) and a small bisquit. And uhhh, well my dad got chocolate muffins from costco the other day, and I had half of a chocolate muffin with smart balance butter on it for desert...Ughhh it's so hard to control my cravings for refined sugar...especially when my favorite sugary things are in the house!! Unfortunitly my dad isn't gonna quit buying this stuff no matter how many times I beg with him to not buy so much crap, so I just need to start learning self control again like I use to. I wanna look good for school, I wanna look good for myself, and most importantly, I wanna FEEL good! I NEED to get this weight off, I HAVE to!!!! So starting tomorrow I am going to avoid as much refined sugar as possible and really watch what I eat for the week, and every Sunday is going to be my day when I can have one thing that I really crave, so if I crave ice cream, I'll have a small quanity of ice cream, if I crave that chocolate muffin, I'll have half of that chocolate muffin (with smart balance butter of course :) I'm also going to exercise as much as I can next week, I don't know how often I'm gonna be able to because of my brother going into the hospital, but if I can make it to the gym 2 or 3 times next week I'll be happy. The most important thing here is to watch what I eat :) I'm feeling really hopeful about next week, I just hope I don't screw it up!

Its gotta be sooo hard to control yourself with all that junk around you and with everyone eating it around you:)

You have the strength to avoid it though... eventhough, it may be hard. You CAN do it:)

You're doing this the right way and for the right reasons... both things that will help keep you on track and keep the weight off.

I'm sorry your brother is going into the hospital.

Keep up your great work and efforts

Thanks alot for your kind words Jenna, you have been an awesome supporter for me on this website and I am truely greatful :) It is really hard for to not eat my favorite "bad" foods when there around the house, but like I said last night I just need to find ways to fight back temptation like I always did when I was down to my lowest weight, everytime I want junkfood from now on I'm gonna ask myself "is it really worth that few moments of pleasure?" And most likely the answer will be no (unless it's ice cream) LOL jk, so I think thats whats gonna keep me away from the junk food from now on. As far as eating goes, I didn't have any breakfast today because for some odd reason I just didn't think about eating and wasn't hungry (most likely because my brother went into the hospital today so food wasn't on my mind at the moment (and trust me thats really odd for me LOL) All I had was a cup of green tea with splenda...For lunch I had a chicken sandwhich on a bagett (have no idea how to spell that lol) with the leftover chicken from KFC (Yes I took the skin off this time) and I also flavored it with some mustard, a little bit of horeradish, onions, a few tomato slices, some lettuce, and thats it....For a snack I had a peach and another cup of green tea with splenda (I think I'm now addicted to green tea lol) For dinner my mom talked about ordering something from Boston Pizza...so if that happens I'll just ask for a veggie pizza and I'll have a couple of clices along with a salad. As for exercise, I couldn't make it to the gym today cause of my bro being in the hospital and I was tired of sitting on my bum all day so I went on On Demand and finally tried one of there exercise video's, and I gotta tell you it enjoyed alot more than I thought I would, I exercised to the program "Start It up" and I really liked it...It's a 24 minute long video but you definitly get a workout because they make you do alot of squats and other leg exercises and pushups and crunches, so it's definitly a workout lol. If I can't make it to the gym tomorrow I'm gonna do the video again and try some other ab videos...so now there absolutly no excuse why I can't exercise even if I don't make it to the gym...It's always good to have a backup lol. Well thats it for now, have a great night everyone!

Ok for dinner my mom ordered Boston Pizza and instead of the veggie pizza she got a seafood pizza that was really good, in it it had shrimp, crab, a white and red sauce, cheese, and thats about it...I had 2 slices and I also had a side salad with mushrooms, a little cheese, green peppers, and Hidden Valley light ranch dressing. Overall a pretty good day but I need to start eating alot more fruits and veggies and not skipping breakfast. However I don't skip breakfast often so I'm not to worried about it...Anyway I will re-post tomorrow, have a wonderful night!

Hey everyone! Just reporting on my day so far....For breakfast I had a small bowl of Life cereal with 1% milk and blueberries, and 1 cup of green tea with splenda. For lunch my mom made us tuna salads on iceburg lettuce (I know it has no nutritional value at all but we didn't have romaine lettuce) with chopped up jalapenos, onions, carrots, a little parmessan cheese, and some light house italian dressing. At about 3:00 I'm gonna have another cup of green tea with splenda and maybe a peach if I feel hungry. I have no idea what were having for dinner so I will report on that when that happens...My dad and brother might be coming home from the hospital today so we might go out to dinner if that happens, if not they'll most likely be coming home tomorrow (I hope today because I really miss them!) As for exercise I don't have any intense exercise planned, but if my dad and brother come home today hopefully we'll be going to the gym tomorrow, if not I'll either do that exercise video I found on On Demand "Start It Up" or I'll explore a little bit and find something different that I like, depends on my mood at the time lol. Have a great day everyone and I hope everypnes having a great week!

Your lunch sounds really yummy!

You're doing such a great job using all the resources you have around you... its certainly difficult because you don't get to make all your own food choices or go shopping on your own.

Keep up the great work and you'll be looking good for school.

Hey everyone! How has everyone's day been?? Sorry it's been awhile since I've posted here, I actually completely forgot to post yesterday for once LOL. Well as for food today I didn't have any breakfast because I got up really late (at about 10:00) and lunch time was gonna be in a couple of hours so I just waited it out lol. For lunch I had a turkey and ham sandwhich on double fiber whole wheat bread with mustard, lettuce, onion, and jalapeno's chopped up and I had a small side dish of strawberry's and blueberries (according to my calculations this lunch was only 260 cals) And later on for a snack I had a peach and a cup of green tea with splenda (I think I found my new favorite healthy snack lol) and for dinner we had chicken and cheese ravioli with some green beans and a side salad with onions, chopped up jalapeno's, some parmessan cheese, and a couple tablespoons of hidden valley light ranch dressing. And if I am adding it up right, my grand total of calories consumed today is...790! Wow that would be dangerously low if I was only consuming that much on a regular basis....Of course of I would have had breakfast it would be alot better, but oh well, I'll just have to do better tomorrow. As for the exercise, I didn't do my exercise video on on demand because when I was about to do it my dad called us and told me and my mom that he and my brother were on there way home from the hospital, so when they came home we just spent time with them...And today I didn't do the video either because of just pure laziness, I gotta start training myself to exercise even when I don't feel like it otherwise I will never get anywhere. Oh and as for food yesterday, Again I skipped breakfast (I've gotta stop doin that lol) And for lunch I had a lean cusine BBQ chicken pizza with a side salad of ice burg lettuce, onions, chopped up jalapeno's, a little bit of croutons, and a couple tablespoons of hidden valley light ranch dressing. Then I had a cup of green tea and a peach for a snack..Then for dinner my dad and I went to a mexican restaurant called "Circo Circo" (REALLY good mexican food!) And I had a chicken enchalada with refried beans and mexican rice, and for an appetizer I had some chips and salsa (about 15-20 chips) I'm a SUCKER for mexican food lol. So it wasn't a bad day and I certainly didn't have a calorie overload for the day because I skipped breakfast lol. Well thats it in this neck of the woods for now, have a great night everyone!!

Hey everyone! Sorry that I havn't posted in a couple days...My computer was down...I'm really glad to be back!! As for my eating over the weekend...Well lets just say it won't help me reach my goals lol....I went way overboard with the sweets (homeade peach cobbler that my dad made, YUMMY!, ice cream sundae with HAAGEN DAZ vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce, chocolate chip teddy ghrams, lol yeah not exactly a good weekend lol, but this is a whole new week and a fresh start for me, and I am NOT going to blow it!! It's time I start putting my health before my desire to eat sweets and all those bad foods :) So yesterday for breakfast I had a small bowl of honey nut cheerios with 1% milk, blueberries, and 1 cup of coffee with splenda, for lunch I had a Lean cuisine garlic chicken pizza (LOVE those) and 2 watermelon slices, for dinner I had zatarans rice with lean burger mixed in with salsa, some green beans, corn, and a small side salad with a sprinkle of mexican cheese, jalapenos, green onion, tomatos, avacodo, and 2 tablespoons of hidden valley light ranch dressing. For physical activity my dad and I went to the gym where I did 30 minutes on the elliptical at "Random" on level 8, then I did 10 minutes on the treadmill on the hill program (I wanted to do more but I got a really bad cramp in my tummy so I stopped) Then after my cramp died down I did some 3 sets of side crunches and did 20 per set. We didn't do any strength training because we decided that we were going to go to the gym daily (5 days per week) Where on day were going to focus on cardio, then the next day were going to focus on strength training (where we do only 10 minutes of cardio to warm up then focus on just strength training for the rest of the work out) and then just alternate in between days..which I think works out alot better for us. I'll report on my food and physical activity later in the day, have a great day everyone!

Hey everyone I just got back from the gym...Today I did 10 minutes on the elliptical (just to warm up) Then I did upper body strength training (for my back) I'm to lazy to go into detail of exactly what I did but it was a great workout lol, and as for food today, for breakfast I had a bowl of whole grain cinnamin toast crunch about 175 cals, (my FAVORITE cereal ever! so glad they have that in whole grain!!) with blueberries in it and 1% milk, and I had a cup of green tea with splenda. For a mid morning snack I had 2 watermelon slices, not sure what the cals are but I know it was hardely anything lol ( I LOVE watermelon) For lunch I had a teriaki bowl with chicken, teriaki sauce, white rice, and with mixed veggies (430 cals) And not sure whats gonna be for dinner, I'll report back on that when that happens. Oh by the way I have some AWESOME news!! On August 18th I'm going to see my favorite musician Josh Groban in concert!!!! I'm so exited because I've admired him since I was 14 years old and this is my first concert of his so I'm very happy!! I hope to meet him by his tour bus after the concert (he's really good about going to see his fans) and give him a letter that I wrote him...An autograph and a hug wouldn't hurt either :) Gosh I'm just so exited I know this is going to be the best night of my life!

I really like Josh Grobin, how great to see him, with a two year old we don't get out to see concerts much these days. Have a great time!

Sound like you had a good day diet and exercise wise! Keep it going!

David C

Hey David! Yeah I am SO EXITED to see Josh in concert!!! If he's coming to your hometown you should definitly go see him, his voice sounds even more incredible Live, if thats even possible. It's great to run into another Josh fan here! Do you have his 'Awake" CD? Whats are your favorite songs by him?? I love all of his songs but my favorites are "To Where You Are" "You Raise Me Up" "February Song" and "Awake". As for dinner tonight, I had scrambled eggs, fried potatos, 2 pieces of bacon (small portions each) and some strawberries and blueberries. I'm proud of myself that I did so well today and theres no way I'm gonna screw up my healthy eating and exercise this time, it's come to the point where being healthy and being proud of the way I look is even more strong than that urge to grab something sweet. Besides I think the cinnamin toast crunch is gonna curb my sweet tooth LOL. (Hey it's whole grain so it can't be bad right?) Goodnight everyone!
