Weight was 59kg.
4am: wake up nescafe
6am Breakfast
1/2 cup oats in porridge w 1 spoon of sultanas and 1apple. stewed separately. With cinnamon and cloves.
1 cafe latte
11.30pm lunch - I had a very nice lunch
French green bean and tomato salad a la the girl in met in Kununurra on my recent trip.
2 slices of whole grain bread
2 boiled chicken eggs
cup of tea
7pm dinner -
Wine: About 1/4 glass of red wine while i made dinner - I am trying not to drink at the moment because i’ve got a horrid cold and laryngitis which is now starting to develop into a cough.
Main: red lentil and rocket salad - using 1 cup of cooked red lentils and bunch of rocket. The salad dressing was made with 3 spoons of balsamic vinegar, 3 tbsp olive oil, 2 cloves garlic, and about 1 tbsp of chopped parsley. I used 3 tbsp of this dressing on the salad.
Pudding: rice pudding with prunes and sultanas made with 1 cup of milk using milk powder (since i’ve got a bit leftover from my trip), and 1/2 cup of medium grain rice, 8 prunes and 2 tbsp of sultanas. But this quantity is for two serves at home where as on my bike trip, i can justify the whole lot as a breakfast. If anyone tries to make this i also added a pinch of salt, and added more water as needed, starting off with one extra cup. You need to keep on adding water so that rice will cook to softness properly. This version is not as sweet as when i make it with fresh apple but its sweet enough when you bite into a prune or sultana. I also added a bit of cinnamon and a bit of mixed spice.
Having discovered this, i have now worked out that pudding is possible on my diet. There’s no sugar in it obviously. And i had it because i couldn’t figure out what else to serve with the red lentils and rocket salad.
Exercise: no straight exercise but i’ve been active all day in the garden and domestic chores.
I did have a 2 hour nap this afternoon. I’m trying to change my routine to be more early mornings and early to beds, so when i woke up so early this morning i stayed up. My new routine is going to be garden and physical work in the morning. INternet and computer and phone work in the afternoon and forum time in the early mornings or after dinner like now. i need to not go back to my pre-trip routine of all day on forums and computer. Coming home fresh like this is an opportunity for me to change my routine. I woke up at 4am without an alarm thjis morning and decided to get up. I can visit forums then til daylight.

I haven't got time to post details from my trip blog today so i will just write a bit of an intro summary to the trip and then mention what i've decided to do as a reward - or just about decided anyway.
So as most people here know i went on a 2 month cycling holiday/tour of the kimberley area of Western Australia. I began from Darwin in the Northern Territory and returned. At a certain point, the road branches and i wanted to do them both, so i did a loop and then not wanting to ride back over the same ground on my way to the fork in the road, i organised a lift with a local guy back to close to Darwin from Kununurra which cut out about 700km from my route. Even with that, i did over 3000 km in my trip which I'm happy with. I ate well, took a vitamin pill but probably didn't rest enough so i was quite tired at the end and have landed a good cold and laryngitis. I've even been losing my voice which has never happened before. I met tons of people along the way and many are very generous to cyclists especially when riding on the unpaved roads where i was. These people are tourists. We call them grey nomads because they are usually older people on a long term travel around the country. Some have sold up everything and live on a permanent driving tour. But over here the majority are doing fairly short tour in 4WDrives. The come to this area to see the gorges, the aboriginal rock art, and experience some outback camping and rough and tumble along the rough roads. Most are city dwellers but plenty come from other walks of life too. And there's a portion of foreign travellers, many are young. They hire vans or buy their own cheap 4WD for a tour of the whole country. Those with vans can't really do teh whole gravel road but stick to the paved part of the road. On that part of the road which is not many gorges, the great interest for me was to visit the aboriginal art centres where the old painters work together. They are interesting to watch and talk to. Their art is a huge topic in itself and i studied it a bit in a past life so i have a particular interest in it. ONe of the highlights of my trip was visiting the Bungle Bungles National Park which is a world heritage site. It was excellent and well worth the very demanding ride out.
I will try to limit my travel diary to mostly what i ate, pictures of same and also any diet thoughts. Obviously i don't expect most people will read it all. But the food diary is an important part of this year's project so i want to post it.
Now for my reward for reaching my goal. Well the first one. What i really want is to get the colour of my hair sorted out. I've got to dash so i won't go into the details of the problem now. But i phoned up and made an appt with my hairdresser who i can't afford to visit much anymore. And was a bit staggered to learn that this could cost $160 minimum but more likely $180 for a plain colour with cut and blowdry. The cut blowdry would only be $20 part of this package so i might as well get it cut. But if i want foils or such, i will have to pay more again. But yikes, i've already spent a bit on myself and gifts for family on this trip so this reward is going to cause budget pain.
Anyhow, i really want this hair colour fixed and then i will continue on doing it myself. I am not happy being a grey just yet.
That's it for today.

Note: this morning is started with my reading of all the regular's diaries. WEll i didn't get far. I have such a lot to do and the diary i started reading is very long. I wonder how many days its going to take me to just read this one. I feel guilty about all this. I have so much to catch up on. I"d really love to know how everyone went while i was away. So its just going to be a slow catch. Bit by bit i think. I hope people will be patient with me.
Thanks for reading.
