I'm aiming for 59kg

Popping in From Kunnunurra WA :)

Hi guys. Thanks for stopping by. I found myself on page 4. Its going to be so hard to find myself by the time i get home again. ok. Probably not that hard.

Anyhow, I miss youse all too. Though when i get back, i must spend less time on the forums and more time in my garden and on other projects. But i promise to catch up on your progresses when i get back.

So i'm a further 500km down the road from the last time i checked in.

I weighed myself at the chemist today adn I am 61kg. Not so bad. I am not bothered about not losing weight lately because i don't want to get run down. Usually i don't eat enough on my rides and get worn out at the two month point. So I will start trying to reduce about a month before the end again.

I've been doing 100km a day lately. I am very aware of not having quite enough time to do the whole route thoroughly so i have to step on the pedals a bit. Anyway the scenery is pretty much the same and there hasn't been many side diversions, though that will all change. Its easier to do mileage like this now because the wind is behind me again, though i am starting to notice it in my knees. It will be good to have a little rest here for a couple of days.

I mostly camp in the bush by the side of a river or creek. I collect wood and make a little campfire. Its how i like to do it best. In the bigger towns i stay in a caravan park as i am doing here and because of that today i am able to get free internet which is a lucky break.

Last night i free camped in a national park just outside the rangers office. He told me not to let anyone see me. I was too lazy to ride up to the campsite 15km away at the end of a long day. Besides it was on gravel which is slow going with a fully loaded bike. I have to carry my food and usually have quite a lot. I also camped at another nat park campsite. I really don't like them. I like being on my own rather than amongst a lot of carvanners. Besides they don't really provide any facilities that i need. Its harder to find wood, its noisier though not very much) and i have to pay.

I've been enjoying my meals though. I have been snapping most of them and will show and tell all when i get back.

I had a big lunch today. I overdid it rather because i wanted to test out fried sardines out of a can. I won't buy more. I didn't like them that much. Not as much as the ones i had in Greece all those years ago. I also dipped my turkish bread in lots of olive oil. But as it was so late, I probably won't make my full dinner tonight afterall.

I've just had my first glass of wine since i left home but it was disappointing. :puke: Still i intend to finish the bottle before i leave here.

Tonight i will just have fish. Its a new type i haven't had before so i don't know what to expect.

There's a ton of backpackers in this campground. All are working on the melon farms around here. They seem to like and many have been here two years running.

Kunnunurra, for those who don't know is a small town in north west of Australia. Its really far from anywhere. Its not near the sea but is near a big diamond mine. "The world's largest operating diamond mine" i think they say.

I found a fork the other day so i no longer have to eat my spaghetti with a spoon. lol I was getting pretty good at it. :bigear:

Today i found a bucket and as i regret leaving my collapsible bucket behind in Katherine (to lighten my load) i have attached it to my bike. I think i am the only touring cyclist who travels with a bucket. However, because of the bucket, i lost my small bath towel and face cloth.

I had to buy a dozen eggs today because i couldn't buy six so I will be eating a lot of eggs in coming days unless i can get rid of them somehow. I don't like leaving things behind although i might have to.

I have reduced my almond intake to 10 at a time, but sometimes twice a day.

Interestingly, i have a tan mark on my back through my shirt. I thought clothes were supposed to protect you from the sun. My bra straps and band are very clear. I am wearing a large man's pjyama shirt that I bought for $1 in a market in Darwin. Its polyester blend. An otherwise perfect cycling shirt.

I've got a bit of a sore crotch and backside though. That's probably the hardest part of cycling. :svengo:

I LOVED reading that! Your bucket made me laugh, but I think you might need it in the night if the wines really that bad :)

Its mad that you have got a bra tan line on your back wheilst wearing clothes, I thought clothes protected you as well, obviously not. Mke sure you slap on the suncream all over, I would imagine it would be unbearable cycling such a long way with sunburn.

If you find any raw diamonds laying around, don't fret about all that extra weight on your bike, you can just send them to me. :D

You sound like you're having such a wonderful time! I envy you for being able to do something so freeing.
I hope that the sunburn gets better, and that you are safe, :waving:

Sorry did i say sunburn. I should have said tan. Its not painful anyway. But i think putting sunscreen on under my shirt is a recipe for disgusting. So i won't be doing that. :ack2: But thank you for thinking of my welfare.

And thank you for enjoying my news post Rainbow. :)

Amy cycling is a wonderful way to see the world. Next time you go on holiday, try it. I've been fantasising about a way to make the whole world (ok not really) take up pedalling as a mode of travel. Along with sailing, i can't think of a better way - unless you are one of those people who NEEDS all their creature comforts. But to be honest, i think such people would adapt quite well. I like to think so anyhow.

Iman/injun/robyn, you've got kids haven't you. Its difficult with kids i know. But there has been the odd person known to take their kids touring too. Little ones usually in a little trailer or something like that.

Today was a bit disappointing on the tourist front. Things i wanted to do - see aboriginal art - were shut. But i found a good souveneir shop to waste some time in. And i enjoyed browsing the shelves of the supermarket for an hour as well. Its not that hard to please me is it. :D

I did try harder to be a proper tourist this morning. I went to what's called the Hidden Valley national Park for some bushwalking. Short ones. I tasted the fruit of the baobab tree and found it to be quite palatable, tasting like a mild tamarind. I learned that the aborigines grind it up to make a flour suitable for breadmaking. It must be interesting bread. They do lovely carvings on the large seeds. I am taking one home to plant in my garden. Here's a picture

baobab tree australia - Google Search or many pictures :D

:driving:

Are you wearing a thick enough shirt to protect you? You know the drill about skin cancer and stuff, I think it can get under shirts not made for purpose in some circumstances.

Unfortunately I'm a massive one for my creature comforts. And I've always found cycling incredibly difficult on my knees. I really should see more of Australia though, it's shocking I've seen so little (the tourist parts of Queensland and NSW, the ACT, and Tasmania. Literally, that's it. The only time I've even been to Victoria is when we got stuck in Melbourne airport once).

Love reading about your travels, 44. It sounds wonderful! And cooking over a campfire rocks.

You make me want to pack my backpack and take off into the woods! :)

Hi geeky, thanks you should do it. It is great.

Amy even my knees are getting a bit sore but that's because i'm carrying too much food!!!. So now its time to shop again and i've taken steps to not buy too much stuff.

I weighed myself yesterday afternoon. 59.5kg. I noticed in the bathroom which had big mirrors and no one else there, that i was looking a bit scrawny on the top end. Alas my arse still looks unpert, and my legs on the chunky side. I don't mind my legs like this though just wish i could get a perty part happening. Oh well. I'm still happy to be this slim and i see now i can eat what i want so long as i am working this hard though i'm still being pretty good.

Food wise, i'm in town and eating out becuase i need a break from my own food styles. So i've had a bacon and egg burger with salad today. a hamburger with salad yesterday. Last night for dinner i had battered barramundi (yum) with fried rice that was not so great and the night before a lamb chop with vegies, rice, mashed potatos and gravey. That was a helluva meal for $9.80. This roadhouse is the cheapest joint in town by a long shot and is doing just what i need. I checked out the fancier eateries and $17 for a piece of admittedly yummy sounding tart just had to be resisted. And getting close to $40 for a main. And so far i've forgotten to buy a drink.

Just before i wrote a group message to family about my trip. I thought i had copied it but i will have to go and get it again as it didn't come with me when signed out.

So back shortly.

Oh but i also wanted to say how tempting it is in teh supermarket. So many yummy sweet things and oh the bakery. HOw can they have such a good looking bakery this out. I mean Hall's Creek is a long way from any capital city. And any city for that matter. But those jammy creamy things ouch.

But i've been pretty good. The worsty i've done is buy a yoghurt with fruit in it and that was mostly bad because it cost $3.20 for a pot that's 200g.

one sec...

group message to friends at home from Halls Creek, WA.

So i am in the heart of the Kimberley's now. The highlight of my trip has been the Bungle Bungles which are really a fabulous national park and natural wonder. They are world heritage listed. The road in wouldn't win any prizes though. Its shocking but its a big part of the adventure. It has 29 creek crossings and all are at the bottom of a ditch which means i had to get off my bike to push it up the hills. It took me from 7am-7.30 i think to ride the whole way which was 53km in to the visitor centre and another 11 or so kms to the camping ground. THe last 10 km took 2.5 hours and made me so mad becuase there was a lot of sand on the road and I had to get off and push all the time and had no time to stop and take pictures of the stunning painterly landscape as the sun was setting on it. There were so many pretty wildflowers and rusty coloured grasses, and spinifex. The vegetation out there is so lush and pretty. I guess its how would look were it not for cattle grazing. I saw a lot of the bungles themselves. These are sandstone hills which are coloured in orange and black stripes. They've inspired me to do a painting sometime in the future - though i am sure it will take several attempts to get anywhere nearing what i want. As i was saying i was pretty grumpy by the time i staggered into the camp ground where there were no hot showers and only a small bunch of firewood (flown in from the jarra forests of south WA) to share amongst all the campers and where we all have to pay $11 a night each! The next night is was worse, Another woman and i hiked up to a gorge and still had to pay even though there wasn't a single signpost, let alone toilets, showers and gas cookers. Still for all that, it was well worth doing and highly recommended. My temper fizzled out when another camper offered me a glass of red wine though. And later some home made damper/scone which was made most excellent by the inclusion of french onion soup mix. So i've bought some of that and going to try it myself.

Some of the nights have been freezing recently and i have had to modify my sleeping arrangements somewhat so that i could actually fall asleep and not suffer and shiver all night long. Modifications began on the night of camping in the gorge. CArrying my gear for the night in a pannier was so awkward and painful that i ended up tipping out most of my water (because it was a cloudy day and i thought i could drink it from the pools and not die) and leaving all my tent but the fly).
So that night i wrappedmyself in my tent fly and decided later that this was probably warmer than sleeping in the tent erected properly.

A few nights later after another chilly night, i said to some campfire mates, i can't bear to spend another night like the last one and i need a solution. Then i thought of a hot water bottle. Which of course i didn't have and no shop was handy, i heated up my billy and filled one of my drink bottles. It was a perfect solution and now i'm doing that every night too.

On the way out of the Bungle Bungles, i asked another vehicle to carry my bags to the highway where i could pick them up. It still took me 5 hours to go 53km. and i was a bit of a wreck after all that heavy mountain biking and trudging up a long river bed over stones and sand with an unusitable pack for the previous days, not to mention that i'd been riding 100km per day for a while now. So basically i collapsed when i got back to the highway at a free campsite called spring creek. IT took me all night and the next half day to start functioning normally again.

Conditions are changing a lot out these ways and camping whereever you like and lighting little bushfires is much discouraged. Downright illegal in fact i think but i do it anyway and sometimes in full view of any passing traffic. Once i asked a farmer who was mending a fence with his three daughters where i could camp and he gave me a good spot on the river but its not often you see the farmers.

Now in Halls Creek i am trying to maximise my chances of looking at ABoriginal art. It has been a bit tricky at times. The art centre in kunnunurra was closed on teh weekend which turned into a long weekend. Turkey creek art centre was washed out in teh wet and all those people have moved to Kunnunurra. Here at Halls creek the art centre was closed yesterday but i got there today and spent quite a while chatting to some ancient artists about all sorts of things. They were lovely to talk to. The old woman taught me that the wavy lines in the pictures are the sand - and hte way the wind puts those little lines you know what i mean. The old man told me how to mix up ochre paints, even though he paints in acrylics. He said you collect the gum from the gum trees, bloodwoods have the gum too. Heat it up in the billy, mix iwth hot water. Then mix it with the ground rock. They paint with this material in Kunnunurra and Turkey Creek.

I went to the tafe college yesterday and the teacher there suggested i ask one of the women to paint my bike with dots. I had told her i wanted to spot my bike and she told me how to do it. Its part of a bigger plan i've got when i get home. Another one of my exciting projects that i may not pull off. So i went back after lunch but all the artists had gone home. HOwever there's a good art centre down the road 100km where if i can stick around til next week, i may be able to get in and hopefully someone there can paint it for me. I am going to offer about $50. Paintings here are not cheap. I just saw some for about $750 at the art centre (which takes 60%).Overpriced definitely from what i've seen but i haven't seen so much yet. I wanted to go out to Balgo where a lot of important art comes from and that i've seen in Sydney but its 300km off the road. I went to almost eveyr government agency here to see if i could cadge a lift out but my timing is not so great. The good thing to know is that they are willing to take passengers. I could probably hitch with a tourist but they'd probably stop along the way. Anyway i think i might try the tanami track one day and go to Balgo then.

They've got a well stocked IGA supermarket here. Much better than Port Douglas. Even a little gourmet corner with maggie beer stuff. They've got some very nice public buildings and a big sports centre. Many aborigines around the town but not much drama. Lots of gorgeous bougainvillea.

The Boab (bottle trees) have impressed me along the highway as they do all visitors and yesterday i bought a humorous book called Histrees about them. I also bought myself an aborigine design umbrella which is going to be my parasol upon returning home. Being so pretty, i won't care that parasols have been out of fashion since the 19th century.

Oh yes back to the art. I was really pleased to notice some parts of the landscapes that i'd seen in paintings here and there. Eg a burnt hill with little white sticks which are actually gum trees, poking up. Its a motif in some paintings.

One of my feet has cracked - so i went to the emergency as it was getting painful. After 1.5 hours waiting about they filled up the crack with what the doctor told me was superglue. I thought he was joking when he first suggested it but in fact they do it glue them up but with a proper medical glue. So now it feels great. Yesterday i was fast becoming a bit of a cripple after walking about for a couple of hours.

ok enough for this time. see yas :D

It's 2 Liters over 1 hour. That's when you risk renal failure and water intoxication.. If your on createin then you need to drink 2-3L per day. I know some body builders drink in excess of 5L per day. But that's not 5L all in 1 go that's about 1 per hour of training I would say. Depends on what your doing with yourself.

You are dead right rainbow, although i don't care for beefy men. Lean men are quite warm too and I would like one, even though now i am i pretty warm Darwin, sitting at the airport, waiting for my departure and someone to come and help me get the peddles off my bike - they have seized on.

Sunflower, i haven't lost of tons of weight. I know it seems hard to believe but its true. Since i was 61.4 according to my last weigh in before starting my trip, i have only lost 3.4kg because today when i weighed myself at the hostel i weighed 58. This means i have not reached my revised goal of 55kg but i have gone beyond my first goal of 59kg so that's pretty good and i'll be getting a reward even though its going to cost me. But you know what i am ok with the current weight and think that maybe 55 is too skinny for me. I don't understand how my sister can be 55kg and not be ribby like me. Perhaps her weight is more evenly spread. My legs and bum are just bigger than hers. oh well, i am pretty happy with the old body right now despite its many imperfections.

There are signs of sagging skin but i think that is mostly due to sun overexposure to the sun in my youth so sun damage and age rather than too much to weight gain and loss. But its definitely there and its not too pretty but its not severe.

Well i've had some ups and downs with the diet even on this trip but mostly i've been good. I went through a bit of a bingy period and had to get really angry with myself and get a grip to get back on track. The trick i used to get me back on track was telling myself that i was going to have report in full everything i ate to you guys. The next day my ravenous appetite for sweet things and anything at all was back under control again. But the binge and hankering for yummy things had been steadily rising for a couple of weeks i guess, ever since some people i met on teh trip offered me chocolate pudding and i accepted it. So it was downhill after i ate some sweets and broke my rigid quit program. But it wasn't a sudden fall. Mainly i jsut started fantasising a lot about sweet foods and things like that and whenever an opportunity came up, i was take it. But i will report on the details of all this down the track as i am going to bore you all with my daily meals and issues of my trip, at the same time as restart with the current day.

But that will start from when i get home.

All in all the trip has been great and i think it has helped with my diet too but its going to be challenging to go home with my sister there and not give in to every desire for something yummy as they make nice desserts. I did bugger up quite badly today at lunch time. I had been trying to be good, was on plan but got caught out in the town without lunch on my way somewhere. REalising i was hungry and thinking there would be time, i stiopped by the supermarket for some apples but still the whole mission i was on took ages and so i was still starving by the time i walked past this cafe that sells excellent cakes and that i had sampled several times on my last trip to DArwin 2 years ago. Today i had to go past it on the way to my final destination and i weakened completely and ordered a strawberry and white chocolate cheesecake with whipped cream and a cafe latte. Bummer! Oh well. Damage done, so i go into damage control. I decided against lunch after all. The cake was lunch. Of course when i got back to my room, i still needed to eat something so i had an orange and a bit of the baguette i'd bought for my trip instead of hte spaghetti i'd had made up for lunch.

But this evening, i've been eating a bit because things are not going too smoothly, i've got a miserable cold and its going to be a long night. so tonight i've eaten
the spaghetti i made for lunch before i left my hotel
at the airport i've eaten an apple, some bread and i am dying for a cup of coffee.

I've got other food and may have to eat some more.

Breakfast was coffee with two pieces of toast and margerine and vegemite. I can't remember if i ate a second breakfast. I've been waking up so early. Perhaps that's all i ate today.

I am getting worried about my bike and packing issues. I had better go and deal with it.

Wednesday, 26 July - first day home from the Kimberleys, NT cycling trip.

Its so good to be home at last. My flight landed just after midday after a night of travelling and hanging about the airport in Darwin. We got home proper at about 2pm i think.

chicken cupasoup with some white baguette bread

12.45pm lunch in the car
remainder of baguette w shaved ham and 1 thin piece of jarlsberg cheese.
this was food i had bought for the plane and travel.

6.30pm dinner
sauteed vegies - broccoli and mushrooms
pan fried potato - 1 medium
handful of scroggin - mixed nuts and fruit

Recipe method
Dinner was cooked with a fair bit of olive oil and also some garlic.

Saute 2 cloves garlic in oil with about 5 mushrooms. Boiled the broccoli florets to get them started then added them back to the mushrooms to finish off.

Boiled the cubed potato until just cooked. Then fried in a pan with vegetable oil till a bit crunchy.

I am still very tired and sick with laryngitis so i’m planning to take it easy this week. My sister and her husband are home from overseas so we are a houseful now. ITs nice to have everyone here. I’ve been looking forward to coming home. I just wish i didn’t have this wog.

FROM MY TRIP
Food report and a bit of diarising.

Date 20 May 2011 Departure from home

Weightt - 61.8kg after coffee and water and loo

6am: coffee ¼ cup milk

7.30am Breakfast:
½ cup oats
½ cup full cream milk
½ cup low fat milk
¾ cup stewed apple

10.45am: crust of wholegrain bread

11am: grapes while driving

12.30 Lunch at the airport:
White poppy seed bun with tomato
1 boiled egg
1 small mandarine

1pm: Cafe Latte/cappucino
grapes

4pm: 1 Piece American Pizza - tomato, cheese, hot salami
Baked bean sandwich

About the pizza,.I got bored. I’ve been in the airport for hours and hours and its starting to get to me. ... I was going to buy a whole small pizza but the pizza ovens have broken down so they are only selling it by he slice. I was almost going to go back for more becuase it was so yummy but I decided to eat my baked bean sandwiches instead.

I’ve worked out my food budget is only $8 per day so I can’t afford to eat cafe/restauratn food at all really. Because where I’m going even groceries are very expensive. But its seems unfair to be on holiday and not have any dining out.

Also I had thought my flight arrived in the morning but it arrives just before 1am so I wlil have to spend the night at the airport as I haven’t got accommodation booked. I will ride out to the camping ground .. and a day or two of riding around town will give me a chance to make sure my bike is in good order.

Packing this morning went ok even though Dad’s alarm didn’t go off. The cat woke me. Dad killed the rooster yesterday so I didn’t even have it to rely on to get me up. I woke just before 5am.

7pm: Snack on plane
2 Dim sims

I decided not to keep vainly trying to sleep and ate instead. I wonder if I will have anything left in my bag for breakfast by tomorrow morning. ...I’m tired. I was cranky when I boarded the plane but I’ve recovered now. Not only was my direct flight changed a couple of weeks ago so that I arrive many hours later and in the middle of the night, but after a good half a day hanging around the airport and then there’s a solid 1.5 hour departure delay.

Today with the pizza, I was quite aware of what I was thinking. But i didn’t seriously consider eating my baked bean sandwich instead of having pizza before I had it. I feel now that I am on this trip, I can eat pretty much what I like (except sweets) and still be fine. But I should not get complacent. I need to stay focussed on the original plan and not let everything go to pot. I want to come back, skinny and 55kg.

I’m looking forward to tomorrow and riding to the camping ground. I have no idea where it is but I know its not in the town centre. It might be about 20km or at least 10km from the centre. I was going to stay in a hostel but now I think I might as well stay where its cheaper since my budget is so small.

Dinner at Brisbane airport:
2 dim sims, pink fried rice
Mandarine

Wednesday, 27 July 2011

Weight was 59kg.

4am: wake up nescafe

6am Breakfast

1/2 cup oats in porridge w 1 spoon of sultanas and 1apple. stewed separately. With cinnamon and cloves.
1 cafe latte

11.30pm lunch - I had a very nice lunch
French green bean and tomato salad a la the girl in met in Kununurra on my recent trip.
2 slices of whole grain bread
2 boiled chicken eggs

cup of tea

7pm dinner -
Wine: About 1/4 glass of red wine while i made dinner - I am trying not to drink at the moment because i’ve got a horrid cold and laryngitis which is now starting to develop into a cough.

Main: red lentil and rocket salad - using 1 cup of cooked red lentils and bunch of rocket. The salad dressing was made with 3 spoons of balsamic vinegar, 3 tbsp olive oil, 2 cloves garlic, and about 1 tbsp of chopped parsley. I used 3 tbsp of this dressing on the salad.

Pudding: rice pudding with prunes and sultanas made with 1 cup of milk using milk powder (since i’ve got a bit leftover from my trip), and 1/2 cup of medium grain rice, 8 prunes and 2 tbsp of sultanas. But this quantity is for two serves at home where as on my bike trip, i can justify the whole lot as a breakfast. If anyone tries to make this i also added a pinch of salt, and added more water as needed, starting off with one extra cup. You need to keep on adding water so that rice will cook to softness properly. This version is not as sweet as when i make it with fresh apple but its sweet enough when you bite into a prune or sultana. I also added a bit of cinnamon and a bit of mixed spice.

Having discovered this, i have now worked out that pudding is possible on my diet. There’s no sugar in it obviously. And i had it because i couldn’t figure out what else to serve with the red lentils and rocket salad.

Exercise: no straight exercise but i’ve been active all day in the garden and domestic chores.

I did have a 2 hour nap this afternoon. I’m trying to change my routine to be more early mornings and early to beds, so when i woke up so early this morning i stayed up. My new routine is going to be garden and physical work in the morning. INternet and computer and phone work in the afternoon and forum time in the early mornings or after dinner like now. i need to not go back to my pre-trip routine of all day on forums and computer. Coming home fresh like this is an opportunity for me to change my routine. I woke up at 4am without an alarm thjis morning and decided to get up. I can visit forums then til daylight.

__________________________________________________________________________________________

I haven't got time to post details from my trip blog today so i will just write a bit of an intro summary to the trip and then mention what i've decided to do as a reward - or just about decided anyway.

So as most people here know i went on a 2 month cycling holiday/tour of the kimberley area of Western Australia. I began from Darwin in the Northern Territory and returned. At a certain point, the road branches and i wanted to do them both, so i did a loop and then not wanting to ride back over the same ground on my way to the fork in the road, i organised a lift with a local guy back to close to Darwin from Kununurra which cut out about 700km from my route. Even with that, i did over 3000 km in my trip which I'm happy with. I ate well, took a vitamin pill but probably didn't rest enough so i was quite tired at the end and have landed a good cold and laryngitis. I've even been losing my voice which has never happened before. I met tons of people along the way and many are very generous to cyclists especially when riding on the unpaved roads where i was. These people are tourists. We call them grey nomads because they are usually older people on a long term travel around the country. Some have sold up everything and live on a permanent driving tour. But over here the majority are doing fairly short tour in 4WDrives. The come to this area to see the gorges, the aboriginal rock art, and experience some outback camping and rough and tumble along the rough roads. Most are city dwellers but plenty come from other walks of life too. And there's a portion of foreign travellers, many are young. They hire vans or buy their own cheap 4WD for a tour of the whole country. Those with vans can't really do teh whole gravel road but stick to the paved part of the road. On that part of the road which is not many gorges, the great interest for me was to visit the aboriginal art centres where the old painters work together. They are interesting to watch and talk to. Their art is a huge topic in itself and i studied it a bit in a past life so i have a particular interest in it. ONe of the highlights of my trip was visiting the Bungle Bungles National Park which is a world heritage site. It was excellent and well worth the very demanding ride out.

I will try to limit my travel diary to mostly what i ate, pictures of same and also any diet thoughts. Obviously i don't expect most people will read it all. But the food diary is an important part of this year's project so i want to post it.

Now for my reward for reaching my goal. Well the first one. What i really want is to get the colour of my hair sorted out. I've got to dash so i won't go into the details of the problem now. But i phoned up and made an appt with my hairdresser who i can't afford to visit much anymore. And was a bit staggered to learn that this could cost $160 minimum but more likely $180 for a plain colour with cut and blowdry. The cut blowdry would only be $20 part of this package so i might as well get it cut. But if i want foils or such, i will have to pay more again. But yikes, i've already spent a bit on myself and gifts for family on this trip so this reward is going to cause budget pain.

Anyhow, i really want this hair colour fixed and then i will continue on doing it myself. I am not happy being a grey just yet.

That's it for today.

Note: this morning is started with my reading of all the regular's diaries. WEll i didn't get far. I have such a lot to do and the diary i started reading is very long. I wonder how many days its going to take me to just read this one. I feel guilty about all this. I have so much to catch up on. I"d really love to know how everyone went while i was away. So its just going to be a slow catch. Bit by bit i think. I hope people will be patient with me.

Thanks for reading. :)
