Icychic's Weightloss Diary

Thanks Mystic. I know you are right. I only try to compare my official Saturday weigh ins. I have a fit bit where I track all weigh ins and can see a graph, also on weight tracker but not daily ones. I know it's trending down, just not near as fast as it should or I want/need it too.

I will try to keep track of what I eat and figure out calories as best I can.

Sadly right now it's more let me lose then I can maintain it easy. Blah!

Icychic, sweetie....try to count the calories for the next week or 2 and it will come off.

Coming from an old 52 year old ....and in menopause...( meaning you give Men a pause) who comes up with these stupid words.:ack2:

Try not to eat energy that you have burnt off.....sorry sounding like a mum now,:nopity: but my son is 22 and he works out at the gym...has a great body yet still eats very carefully.

So want to see you reach your goal. :seeya:

137 today. Less than last week but still up from earlier this week. Over ate today...I think. Didn't eat breakfast, finally got out of bed around 11. Did some errands, ate spaghetti for lunch and a sugar cookie, then 6pm for A's Company Xmas dinner. I had 2 drinks, way too much food (ceasar salad which has too much dressing, prime rib which was soft enough to easily cut with a butter knife, 2 buns, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans), and then also ate some BBQ chips and salty cashew nuts, and then even though I was already super full I ate a piece of cheesecake which was also delicious, and then more BBQ chips while playing some pool. Was a good and fun night but feel kinda bad for being such a :piggy:. I *think* that's all I ate today. Tomorrow will be dinner at my moms, will try to eat proper portions and little/no dessert. Need to eat more veggies during the week.

I will do my best come Monday to track what I eat and attempt to figure out calories from there. I definitely am much more aware and read labels for calories, sugar, and sodium content and try to gauge from that if it's OK to eat and how much at a time.

mrs woods: what do you mean by "Try not to eat energy that you have burnt off"?

I also drank 2L (perhaps a bit less because I think my FBIL drank some) or Sprite, and about 1L of Cran/Rasp juice. 130ish cals per 250mL. Oh that was this week, not in a day. The juice was on sale and I remembered drinking it like that (or maybe it was with Gingerale? Can't remember) at a friends over Thanksgiving and decided to do that for a bit of a special drink when I didn't want water. I'm thinking for the rest of the juice I will just water it down rather than add pop to it.

Not giving up though. Still trying to eat healthy, and as of Monday will also be trying to get a workout in as well even though I am doing the second job, I think now that I'm not really sore after shifts that I should start doing cardio to burn more cals. I figure even if it's just some jumping jacks or something simple to get my heart rate up for 10 mins it's better than nothing, right? I don't get my heart rate up at work, it's more lifting than anything so it's more strength training in my eyes. Still need the cardio to burn the cals and lose the weight.

Also-edited my goals with today's weigh in. Not a good start.

Icychic, what I meant by that was if you or me... burn extra calories through exercise, try not to think that we can eat it up in food.

Eg....today I did lots of gardening....so maybe I used an extra 300 calories, this is good until I think that I can now eat those calories back in food, so although exercise it good if we eat it back....it's not so good.

You probably know that and I just did not explain myself properly. :waving:

Ah yeah no I'm wanting to stick around 1200 cals per day and burning cals means more lost, not that I can eat more. But it's hard with Christmas parties and like the lunch I will be having at my mom's today. But yes that is definitely a good thing to keep in mind, the exercising is to lose the cals/fat we've eaten previously which caused us to gain weight, not so we can eat more now.

Still 137 today which is OK considering how much I hate yesterday. At least I felt like I ate a lot. Wondering if I'm still retaining water from the salt intake the last couple of days. Perhaps helped that I didn't eat breakfast yesterday. Going to probably have tea and toast this morning before I head out for groceries. Only have 1.5 hours and am so not getting everything done in the house that I wanted to get done this weekend.

Hey there!

I am so impressed that you have been able to take on a second job. That shows so much discipline! I know you want to have your dream wedding and are doing what it takes to get there. You have made some progress on the weight loss and you will surely make more! I hope you still find time for some fun! And get to spend some quality time with A.

Actually if you're only eating 1200 cals per day you actually should be eating at least some exercise calories back. 1200 is a very low calorie count and you really should not NET below that number or it's really not very healthy. Remember that losing weight is mostly about what you eating. It's very difficult to out exercise bad eating. Exercising should be for fitness and toning to make the thinner you look better and be healthier!

I am going to try writing down everything I eat this week and try calculating the calories I am eating to see exactly what I am at. 1200 to be honest was kinda of a random # from thin air that I picked out. I will need to look for a good site to check what I should be at.

Sadly with A's brother living with us we don't get quality time together really. We argue a fair bit when his bro is living with us due to the living situation. We have decided when we get back from our honeymoon we will kindly ask him to find his own place. I figure 2-3 months should be lots of time, especially if we lower/cancel his rent at that time so he can get first months rent and deposit saved up.

I'm not in the best of moods today. Kinda feeling down. Got very little done this weekend at home, had a dentist appt and have 2-3 visits worth of cavities to be filled. Have a lot of work to do in the next 2.5 hours and hope work tonight is fairly easy so I can let my mind wander. Trying to sort out some wedding stuff with the hall and looking at invitations and thinking what I want to do for my bridal shower/party. Will have adults at the shower, will have just friends for the party afterwards but thinking low key at someones house would be good - I dunno.

I did weigh myself this morning but I don't like what it said so I'm ignoring it and have not posted it or listed it anywhere. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I have 2 weeks and I don't think I'm even going to hit 10 lbs lost let alone hitting the 120s *sigh* Hope everyone else is having a better Monday than I am!

Really need to catch up on everyone's diaries - will do so soon!

So I'm starting to keep track of my calories just to see where I'm at...and perhaps I am fairly low! So far today:

1 cup Corn Flakes=88
1 cup 1% milk =110
1 can Campbells Vegetable soup (yes I finished the whole can :piggy:)=160
So far=358 cals which is pretty low considering I'll have maybe an apple and mandarin orange the rest of the day. Must rethink...perhaps I'll have some toast and nuts as I'm still kind of hungry even after the whole can of soup I ate.

says at 136.5 (my lowest so far) I should be eating 1291 to lose 1 lb a week with little activity.

So maybe I am often eating enough? Or I'm not calculating this right. Any help with a good calorie counter would be greatly appreciated:

yesterday:
1 cup Corn Flakes = 88
1 cup 1% milk = 110
1 can veggie campbells soup = 160
2 slice 100% whole wheat bread = 160
2 tbsp (estimate) = 160
1 mandarin orange = 40
1 bowl Beef Akni (mom's homemade) = 850 (my estimate is 1 cup white basmati rice=550, 2 oz beef=150, 1/2 no skin boiled potato = 150)
Total: 1568 if I calculated everything right.

137.5 today. I need to write down all my daily weights on a spreadsheet for easier reference LOL. See what sort of trends I really have with when I gain and lose during the week and see if I noticed anything. Seems I lose and then gain it back and then lose a little more and gain it back. It's frustrating to hit 136.5 and be back at 137.5 multiple times. Grr.

Hey, icy, I have been using the one on caloriesperhour.com. I'm sure there are many out there, but this one works well enough for me, and it has a very extensive list of foods. I too seem to lose, gain back and lose some more -- reminds me of the ups and downs of the stock market. Seems like as long as you keep getting lower lows, then all is good.

to figure out your calories look for a TDEE calculator site (just google TDEE calculator)

To help with calculating what you are eating try My Fitness Pal. I wouldn't use their calorie suggestions as they often suggest too low calories, but you can edit the settings to make a custom calorie goal.

Sweet! My Fitness Pal has "Akni" - it's a beef, rice, potato dish my mom made and I ate leftovers for dinner Monday and have the rest for lunch today since A didn't eat it. I seem to have over estimated the calories in it, but that's if the cals on there are correct. Most of the rest seem accurate to my #'s cept the bread on there is lower by about 10 cals per 2 pcs which is minor.

Monday 1081 cals - if everyday was like that I'd weigh 132 in 5 weeks. Tuesday 816cals and 129.3 in 5 weeks. Not that I should be staying at that low of cals but yeah. Oh I did go over my sugar limit on both days though, and my protein by 2 on Monday but that's OK. Must keep logging on there...It does state since I want to lose 2lbs/wk that I should be at 1200 cals/day (probably because I shouldn't go lower than that) and that's with me noting I live a sedentary life style with a desk job so that doesn't take into account the workout I do at my evening job.

I'm back to 136.5 today which is good. Need to up my water intake and stop eating breakfast so late. It's 11am and I'm just going to be getting breakfast now. Bad! But gotta get back to work, too much to do!

Hi Icychic....looks like we are going though the same as some others....Monday 156....wed...157.6 and thurs....156.8 :banghead:

just have to keep going,....even Mr Vee does that, but yes it's hard.
mrs woods ooxx:cuss:

I know the fluctuations happen, but it would be easier to deal with if I was actually hitting some goals. And that 10lb goal - seems like I won't hit it this year which would really piss me off, I mean it's a freaking pound! GAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! :banghead: I REALLY want the last chocolate cherry but I won't do it. I have chocolates at work and I'm sure I'll eat one today. Must eat breakfast earlier today.

136 today, new low, which is great! Yet I'm still not happy. I should be at 132 Saturday and I highly doubt 4lbswill disappear by then. Biggest drop I've had was 3 in 1 day, but that was the day after gaining 2.5 so not really accurate. And considering it's only 0.5 lbs less than I was Wed. last week it's not good progress.

I'm a little sore this morning and need to shovel the walk before I leave today, and I've got lots to do at work as well but gonna try getting some cardio in. Will also note my cals once I get to work and plug everything in. Had some turkey and fruit at work last night since they did a turkey Xmas lunch during the day and there was leftovers. Some watermelon and cantaloupe. Yummy! Need to get veggies this weekend and snack more on that to cut down my sugar intake from fruit. Hopefully I don't overdo it on the dressing as I like to dip veggies. Anyways, must get ready, shovel, and leave so will be back!

Also - I'm quite below the trendline right now on the graph I made. Will try to it post later, not sure how to from Word right now hehe.

Attached are 2 graphs I have done, 1 is each day I have weighed (some dates are missing in between) and the other is only my Saturday official weigh ins. Start date: Sat. Aug 24th at 145lbs, end today at 136 and Sat. Dec 14th at 137.

View attachment 21589View attachment 21588

The trend is seeming like I will gain a bit more before losing and hitting my 10lb mark. On the bright side I realized 136 means I'm in the "healthy range" but I'm not celebrating until it sticks for a week because chances are it will be up tomorrow.

Per My Fitness Pal yesterday I ate 1066cals with too much protein and too much sugar. Interesting...and here I always thought I never ate enough protein.

I think this whole not losing enough weight to my liking and other crap going on the last couple of days has really got me down. Looking more and more like the rest of this week will be unproductive meaning I will have to do inventory Monday/Friday next week which is not going to be fun.

Sorry for the sad/down post.

Hi Icy, I really like My Fitness Pal & must get back to using it again. I charted what I ate etc on it for over a year & found it excellent. I didn't worry too much about the break-up though- ie too much protein etc. I know that my diet is quite well balanced. I laughed when you talked about the chocolate cherry! Yum. If it was milk chocolate (fat & sugar) I could resist, but dark chocolate.....not so sure! Once Christmas is done & dusted we'll all be better able to knuckle down. :D xo Cate

And everything I wrote just disappeared...let's try that again shall we?

I prefer milk over dark chocolate, but white is even better. In high school the vending had "Dream" which was AMAZING! And now I want white chocolate LOL. Maybe I'll eat one from the box today for my treat.

I want to have a productive day today with food, work, and working out. REALLY need to buy veggies this weekend, cut them up so they are ready to go, and have those as snacks instead of an apple/orange during the day. Will keep the mandarin for my "dinner/snack" later since it's easy at my evening job.

Back at 136.5 today like I thought I would be. Hope to hit 136 again tomorrow for my official weigh in, if not less. I highly doubt I will lose 7lbs in 11 days to hit the 120s before Dec 31st. Sad but true :( Looking in the mirror today, even the 8.5 I supposedly lost doesn't seem to have done anything for my tummy fat. At 135 I will measure and compare what 10lbs has done, but I suspect very little.

Anyways, not sure if I missed anything else I wanted to write but time for breakfast and work and searching for a low impact cardio/core workout for today if I can. Or I'll do Jillian's 30 day shred and just skip/modify some of the stuff.
