Icychic's Weightloss Diary

Hey Icy.....it's been cold here too! We all have bad days....my friend who is under wheight has days where she feels fat...she is like 5 8 and weight 105lb......your walk from the store might be what you need to uplift you!

Yeah well A ended up picking me up from work. Nice not having to wait in the cold, but really it's 1 bus that comes outside my work, and a 10min walk to get home. Not so bad and the walk would have been good and I wouldn't have been here late waiting for him. Didn't walk to the store because he wanted Iced Tea for work again and the Co-op that I can walk to doesn't carry it, always go to Safeway when he wants that. So we went home and I took the car and went to Wal-Mart and bought a yoga mat while I was there. Had plans to bring it to work this morning and some extra clothes...but then I slept in and was already late for my bus and figured I didn't want to carry it all on the bus and wasn't going to work out at work because I would be getting there too late so yeah it didn't happen. Ended up getting to work about 45mins later than I should have...WHOOPS! Oh well, the joys of being the only one here, nobody knew! HEHEHE.

The truck will be getting fixed today/tomorrow so A is picking me up tonight again and I will probably take the bus tomorrow. Though I might sneak out a little early and catch the bus home instead, not sure yet. To avoid all the high school kids from today I will try leaving much earlier. Might also snag the car tonight and bring my yoga mat and clothes and stuff over later so I have it here for tomorrow. Think I will leave the dumbbells at home though.

Didn't end up setting up the Kinect last night, and as I said slept in today (got out of bed when I should have been leaving the house), but hopefully I can get it setup tonight. Need to think what I need for dinner tonight too. Really need/want to get some sort of workout done tonight. Meant to last night but got super tired and ended up just sitting watching TV while waiting for laundry. Need to start sleep more too...maybe that would give me more energy in a day. Apparently I've been sleeping an average of 6hr and 15mins according to my Fitbit.

I know the feeling of planning to do something and then sleeping in!!!! brining your stuff there tonight is a great Idee that way you won't forget it in the morning!

I am so excited for our new challenge! If anyone can think of a good name for this challenge please let us know. Once a name is decided we will post in the Club Challenges section for others to join in.

I bought a yoga mat yesterday so if I find I'm not getting the time/privacy at home, I have no excuse and will start coming in early (or more likely staying late because of how much I will be sweating and dead by the end) and doing the workouts here instead.

To reach my goal I must be at 131 lbs by the end of this challenge. I can do this!

That challenge is interesting.....but I know that many people frown of the Juicing so I don't know that I can participate, then again it isn't a weight loss but more of a fitness challenge!

You are right, it's focusing more on the fitness than the weight loss. And you are more than welcome to join in :) But you gotta help us pick a name.

I posted on little_star's diary:
I know we aren't doing just abs for this challenge but...perhaps Abtastic? I really suck at creative names LOL.

Or perhaps Fitastic...or Flab to Fit or Flab B Gone!?

Even tried searching Google with no real luck :(

Perhaps something to do with determination?

I seriously am not creative. And if we don't have a name by later today, or tomorrow morning I will stick with either Fitness or Workout Challenge and post it.

Verobc: You have been added to the participants of the IcyStarCloud Challenge :)

Please see here for details of the challenge.

So we got the truck back last night and I was able to take my car to work this morning so I brought my new Yoga Mat. (Winter is definitely just around the corner, because I had to scrape off my windows :() I got to the office and sat at my desk and realized...I didn't bring a change of clothes. The shirt I am wearing I could workout in, but jeans with a decent sized belt? Not so much! So I'm hoping the day is not too busy and I will have time over lunch to run home and grab a change of clothes. The plan is going to be to stay after work and do a workout before heading home. I think it's better that way because if I do it when I first get here I will feel all icky and sweaty all day long.

I've been bad with eating and portion control. Eating a lot of breads and eating more than I should. At work I have been eating too much and I'm not sure why. Possibly boredom linked with procrastination? I don't know but it MUST stop. Sadly my brain keeps saying "tomorrow". I have a tuna fish sandwich in the fridge but it's made with a whole wheat burger bun cuz we have them at home and they need to be used. I have jam and bread and butter in the fridge for toast, again because it has to be used up. And I have cheese in the fridge, was going to make cheese sandwiches in the toaster at work for lunch as well. SO MUCH BREAD! No idea what to make for dinner tonight either :( A has wanted fish sticks so the last 2 days I made fish sticks and hashbrowns. Good tasting but not good for me. There are leftovers, but I figure he can eat those and perhaps I will make a veggie stir fry or something quick and easy as I am meeting a friend later tonight.

Managed to head home briefly over lunch. Brought back a change of clothes. While home I set up the Kinect. Didn't test it, but it's set up so that's a start!

And now that I have my mat and a change of clothes at work, there is no excuse right?

Going out with a friend tonight so I figure finish work at 5, try one of the workouts from the challenge starting next week or perhaps a shorter one I can find online, by 5:30/6pm I head home (depending on the workout I chose) and shower and change and perhaps have some fruit for "dinner" and head out. We will probably go somewhere and have something to munch on at least. Figure showering at night is a good thing too because I don't have to spend the time in the morning, and my hair will be dry so I can straighten it when I want to.

I'm curious what my Fitbit will show after I do my workout.

But time to eat...toasted cheese sandwich time!

Ooh let me know how you like the Kinect. Always was intrigued by it, but never enough to sink the money on it. I guess if I buy a new gen console it will come with it.

We've had it for a while, just never set it back up since we moved (back in Mar 2012 LOL). I like it better than the Wii, but I like the balance board on the Wii for the Wii Fit training and tracking and balance games. But for most everything else I find the Kinect can measure your movements better cuz it sees your full body, not just where your 2 hands are moving the remote/nunchuk. It's harder to cheat :)

Not sure what games I will try first, but if I can back into it I may go out and buy one of those Dance games. Not yet sure which one, been going back and forth. The newer ones are better of course, but I need good music to do it so need to look into the songs more. Most of the new music sucks.

I just like that it gets you moving but is fun cuz it's games and you can compete against yourself or other people.

Sadly my wrist is bugging me today so I have it in the wrist brace. Hoping it's OK when I do my workout later but thinking I need to do some weights tonight and try getting my wrist stronger.

And yes...I am totally procrastinating being productive at work. Even brought nail polish remove and a new nail polish to use LOL.

YAY! Stayed after work and did a workout. That one to be exact.

It's a fairly low intensity but figured a good place to start. Got a bit of a sweat going and can feel some muscles now so that's a good sign. I could have probably done something higher intensity but maybe next time.

With that said I did hear my knee cracking after a few minutes so will need to still work on strengthening those. But all in all I think I did alright! Modified a few things and went a little slow on some but overall not bad for the first workout in a very long time.

Here's hoping I don't eat too much unhealthy foods tonight and see some progress on the scale tomorrow!

I have Kinect at home, haha we've used it twice probably in the 2 years that we've had it. I love a lot of the Wii games where you get up n move around (Raving Rabbids, wooo!) but usually only do them when I'm with a group of people and we're playing together. There's a few PS3 games I really want, I tend to get sucked into normal games more than the active ones... don't really even have time for them anymore either!!

How exciting that you're going to start planning your wedding!! Wish I could get married again, it was sooo much fun. I got married when I was 21 so pretty freakin young, coming up to my 4 year wedding anniversary on the 17th Oct and we couldn't be happier. It's only now that my friends are starting to get engaged/married! Exciting though, means we have weddings to go to coming up. Love getting all girly and dressed up!!

About how you feel how you look- I think you can take a lot of stress off your mind if you accept where you are now and don't pressure yourself too much with a difficult goal (like losing 2lbs a week, even if you eat and exercise perfectly you won't get that loss each week). Sure you can set a weight goal for whatever you like, you just need to give yourself more time to get there. I think weight loss is something you need to kind of learn to enjoy, make it fun, especially if you have to do it for an extended period of time (several months). Just my 2 cents, I don't lose much weight-wise every week but the scale is still going in the right direction and I'm just letting it be so I don't feel the need to punish myself for not losing fast enough. Takes away a lot of the stress too!

That's great Lucy! Congrats on the upcoming anniversary! We have had a few friends and family get married the last few years and have a few more coming up too. 1 for sure with a set date end of May where I`m a bridesmaid and super excited :) They have been together longer than us, will be 7 years I think when they get married. I love getting all dressed up too, and you can`t do it often so must take advantage when you can!

The Kinect and Wii are definitely more fun when you play with others, but I can still have fun on my own depending on what game it is. Will experiment this weekend and see what really gets me going.

I understand what you are saying about setting goals too high and possibly not reaching them, but if I don`t set the high goal I will never get anywhere. So far I have done well even though I haven`t met any of the goals I have set yet, I am not letting it discourage me. And now that I will actually be exercising and have no excuses anymore, if I go hard on the workouts and do them 3-5 times a week at least then I hope that will be good enough even if the scale doesn`t show movement, or not the amount of movement I would like to see. As long as it keeps going in the right direction and I keep feeling better and getting fitter, in the end that is really what I know is important.

Sadly I went out last night and ate too much of really crappy food. Breaded boneless wings, mozza sticks, onion rings, nachos, and poutine with breaded chicken. Was super good but way too much and really really bad. Was about to leave the house this morning and I remember it was Saturday and I had to get on the scale to post on here...well I was already dressed and for fun got on the scale. 148...AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!! So I stripped LOL (usually I have weighed myself in undies or a super light nighty that I have). After stripped the scale said 144.5. Better, but still crappy since I was at 143 before :( Makes me sad, but also determined, not discouraged, which is really great cuz usually that would bring me down and I`d go eat something super crappy and bail on the process.

Here`s hoping for a good weekend with some great working out!

I have set my goals too high lately as well. I'll feel great if I make a lofty goal, but so terrible if i miss a modest goal. My thought is that I'e been sedentary long enough that things will start off quickly. we'll see. As far as your weigh-in circmstances, I took off my wedding ring to weigh this morning. :)

Hey Icy......I think it is the first time I see someone on here that eats Poutine!!!! Almost had some yesterday but was able to resist mostly cause I know the cheese curds are not the same since last winter and I used to love those cheese curds! The 1.5 you gained is probably water retention from all the sodium you ingested last night! Drink your water and start sweating!!!!!! The scale should be back down next weight in!!!! Keep on working out it will make a difference...I have the bigest looser on Kinect and it is fun to do but I still have the old tv and getting the Kinect to work properly under the tv takes a lot of time to set up and since I have kids I can't leave it there, there is also the Power Rangers game that I play with my son you have to punch and jump and squat and hit the bad guys with a sword! The dancing games are fun and I think you just have to go with your music taste.....and who need the kinnect to dance all I need is my Ipod that way I choose all the music!

I usually set moderate goals, but I actually aim higher than that, as high as possible.

I hope you can get the weight (and food) under control again. Good luck and have a great weekend. :)

Exactly! If I set a high goal and miss it, but I know I worked hard I can live with that. But if I set a smaller, more attainable goal and miss it, it's harder to be OK even if I did work my butt off.

I took my bra off...not sure how much difference it made but the dog was looking at my funny wondering WTF I was doing when I just got dressed and was now stripped LOL.

Power Rangers? Awesome! I remember watching that as a kid :)
Dancing...I don't really dance. I mean I like to but I don't because I think I suck and get way too self conscious unless I've had a few to drink and am with good friends who are also dancing, and even then still super self conscious. But if I DO get the dance game I will definitely look into the songs. I remember my FBIL was talking about it before when I think Dance Central 3 was gonna come out and he was thinking of buying it, maybe I'll see which one he was looking at and if it has decent songs go with that. I could train myself in the mornings before he wakes up and then kick his butt later, LOL :)

I hope you can get the weight (and food) under control again. Good luck and have a great weekend. :)
Thanks! I hope so too. Need to figure out what to cook for dinners this week. And need to start taking veggie sticks (carrots, celery, cucumber) to work for snacking on while working. Possibly go for salads for lunches too would be good. Getting groceries tomorrow probably so will try and make good choices.

So...had a friends bday last night and we went out to Karaoke. A came with, but we were both tired and thought we'd leave early. He left but I stayed cuz he told me to stay and have a good night and drink since I rarely do and rarely get the chance to. So I ended up having a bunch of shots and some wings and then McDs after. But it was a good night so it's ok.

IcyStarCloud Challenge starts tomorrow and I'm going back to being better with food choices. Must remember a change of clothes so I can do my workouts at work before heading home. Debating taking dumbbells with me but think I will leave them at home.

Today has been OK. Haven't eaten much to be honest. Went to sleep at 4:30 and woke up later, didn't eat anything until probably 3ish and not much of anything at all. Drank a fair bit of water though which is good. Must keep the water intake up for sure. Hoping this week goes well with the workouts and the food choices.

We can't be perfect all the time!!!Glad you had a good night out now it is time to get back to the routine!

Exactly :) I did have a good night, and it is rare that I go out like that. I still hope I don't have another drinking fest until Christmas...but I think we made thanksgiving plans with a friend so will see how that goes. Either way, if it's the odd day I do that and the rest of the time I eat well and exercise it will be better. Just need to get working on the exercise.

Verobc: Are you joining us in our challenge? I have you listed as a participant so I say you should :)
