Thanks everyone

We have a full day of examinations and tests next Tuesday (10am till 5(ish)pm.Then back on Wednesday morning for results, prognosis, and discuss any further treatment. We are still hoping to go on holiday the following Monday, but just in case, have contacted the coach firm. It is a local one which we have used before, is only a few minutes from home and the staff there are all local and really friendly. They told us not to cancel yet, but to wait until after Wednesday until we cancel( if at all) They will give us a full refund and there are always customers on standby for cancellations, right up to the last minute. So that is one headache out of the way.

& toes!! I'm so glad you live in such a good part of the world Polly. There's a lot to be said for a supportive community.

GOOD NEWS!:beerchug::hurray::party::rotflmao::party::hurray::hurray:

Just got back from the hospital and I wanted you all to know. Poor Mark had tests and examinations yesterday from 9.30 until 4.30. We were back for 8.30 this morning. More tests to compare results, fields and pressures done on the both eyes and then we went in to see the consultant and it is all good news. We have had the OK to go on holiday on Monday (19th) and he can do what he likes, so long as he doesn’t go up in a plane for the next few months. We are both exhausted and it is hotter here than the south of Spain (32C) so it’s a quick pasta bake with a quiche I made yesterday and then fester in front of the TV and fans until bedtime, which will be early. Did I mention we may have a quick ‘tincture’? There is a large whiskey and coke with my name on it. Thanks so much for all your best wishes and kind words.

SUCH good news Polly!!! LaMa has the party covered for me as well. PHEW!! I am really relieved for you both. Enjoy your whisky & coke tonight & your holiday xoxoxoxoxo

You have been so supportive over the last few weeks. I wish I could send you all a post card from the Isle of Wight but this will have to do_Our hotel is just around the headland and we have a bedroom with a sea view and a balcony.
I'm looking forward to seeing Queen Victoria's holiday palace (Osbourne House) and having ago at Alum Bay,which has all different colour sand,at making a little ornament. It will probably be me and Marcus and half a dozen little kiddies.

Thank you for the postcard :) Kids can be good company and they boost creativity so go have fun :p Also: I want to then see a picture.

Back safe, but not too sure about the sound. Very hot and humid. Thank goodness for aircon. For a hotel based coach holiday, there was a hell of a lot of walking. Queen Victoria’s seaside ‘home’(1000acres) was half close because Judi Dench was making a film there, but the grounds were open and we loved the Swiss Cottage Albert had built for the kids. You could still see their little veg gardens and the small sized tools they used.

We had wall to wall Clinton v Trump all day yesterday. It was on live through the night and then on a loop. We have enough mudslinging between our own politicians over here, so I don’t have the brain power to take on another country’s as well

Catch up with you allsoon

Good to have you back, Polly! How are Marcus' eyes doing? I think coming up with new play ideas for kids with an unlimited budget could be the best job ever :p

Marcus saw the consultant today. He’s very pleased with the eye and will see him next in November and again in December.

Oh boy it was hot in the hospital. We have both had colds since we came back from the Isle of Whyte. There was a jewellery sale (costume not precious stones) in one of the shops and Polly hit it with a vengeance. I got a lovely pair of swarovski crystal ear rings which look very expensive under electric light a swarovski crystal bracelet and another quite modern bracelet, thickish in ‘gold’ and ‘silver’ entwined. Marcus bought me a necklace and earrings to match in turquoise and gold coloured enamel.

Still getting back to normal. Now we have the hospital out of the way I can get back to the forum

Such good news Polly about Marcus' eyes. As LaMa says "bling it up". I love hearing you sound so happy. I love hearing about your life actually. Much love, xoxo Cate.

I am still in the land of the living!
Two weeks ago my God daughter and her three children dropped on us out of the blue. She was having marital problems and wanted to get away from home for a bit.
We have a small house; just right for the two of us but four extra, three of them under age 10, has made life a little difficult. What could we do? We couldn't turn them away, but it has been very difficult.
They went back yesterday afternoon. The house is like the town tip, We have felt tip scribbles on our new wallpaper, the wooden panel on the side of the bath is smashed, and we will have to go out and restock quite a bit of china.
I forgot to say, she also brought the dog and was too upset to walk it,so that fell to Marcus and me. I know I'm grumbling but I'm tired, up to my knees in washing and I don't know when the house will be back to normal.
Marcus has said that we do nothing from now on for the rest of the day, just sit and recharge our batteries.
I have to go shopping though, the freezer is empty and my cupboards getting low

Recharging sounds like the thing to do. And maybe some more recharging tomorrow. Everything doesn´t have to be back to normal immediately, so take your time. I´m sure your goddaughter wasn´t happy to drop in on you like that, and the ability to do so anyway was a godsend. Have some hugs from cold but sunny Vienna :grouphug:

She's a lovely girl Maria. Brains as well as beauty. To drive 300miles with 3 small kiddies and a hyperactive dog, she must have been very upset. We were quite proud that she realized she could just drop on us.By gum though! I'd forgotten how exhausting a family can be.

Polly- you & Marcus should be very proud of yourselves. Your god daughter must have needed that safe haven. Marcus is right, though. You do need to re-charge your batteries. Maybe you should both go out for a meal. Don't try fixing everything in a day. Take care. You are are a very kind, loving & supporting GM who needs to now take care of herself :grouphug: Cate
