I don't know where to start

Poor Marcus :( Hope the knee gets better quickly xo
He's on the mend Cate. The curtains look good too
Now. I've met ever so many young people now the schools have shut for the summer. They are often on the same bus as me, they use their student passes, I use my pensioners one:D I mentioned that my nails were splitting in the hot weather and I couldn't find a nail oil that worked. One of the girls told me how to make my own. Clean out an old nail polish bottle. Rinse with polish remover don't forget the brush. Then wash in warm soapy water and rinse well. Allow to dry upside down on kitchen paper.Fill with either olive oil or Avocado and olive oil 50/50and then cut the top off about 3 vitamin E capsules and squeeze into the bottle. It has worked wonders I can tell you.

Oh wasn't your knee, oops. Well I'm glad Marcus is feeling a little better and I hope he continues to.
Don't worry Butterfly. Some years ago, I heard that a good friend's dad had died so I let everyone know. It turned out that it was his cat...boy did I have some apologizing to do. Thank goodness everyone saw the funny side. So, you've got nothing on me

We live in a semi detached house and the neighbours we are 'joined on to' have a little spaniel puppy. She is adorable.

As soon as she hears my husband's voice she throws herself at the fence. Yesterday she turned up in our house. We had the French doors open because it was so hot, and the first we knew, she had launched herself at poor Marcus who was sitting in his armchair watching the Olympics.
She had dug a little tunnel under the fence. It was all my fault.I had forgotten that I had scooped out a hedgehog tunnel to help them get from garden to garden. And Flopsie had just enlarged it. With all the decking and paving which seems to have taken over gardens, it is getting more and more difficult for hedgehogs to find their natural food.

Poor hedgies, I like them. My parents live out in the country and always have at least one of them living in the garden but in places where everything has to be tidy they don´t have a chance. We have a new puppy, too! So cute, and such needle-like teeth :p

Ohhh yes! Their teeth are like needles sticking in you. Another painful memory was when my children were little and playing with sticklebricks.Creeping out of their bedrooms when you had eventually got them to sleep, getting to the door and putting your foot on a sticklebrick hopping around in agony and trying to scream silently:ack2: Where's your photo gone?

:D Legos are worse than sticklebricks... I took my picture down because I don´t really like being easily identifiable on the internet, that´s all. Don´t think I´ve ever had any pics up for long.

That's exactly why I'm a bit windy of putting mine up. I have to take Marcus for a brain scan this morning. His eye has been playing up again

Just posted a picture of me, as my avatar, with my daughter a few weeks before she died in 2010. I felt a bit bad knowing what Cate and Maria looked like so put this up but will take it off asap because I feel this new forum is too public

What a lovely, loving picture! It's nice to know what you look like too, even if you don't leave it up for long.

:iagree: with LaMa. Thank you Polly for sharing that lovely photo with us. I know how much I love our 2 boys, but I can't even begin to know how you must feel. My family is much more important to me than anything else in the world.
I think the forum is way too public now too. I have requested the sharing on FB button be removed but have not heard back. I did ask when it first appeared. I do think it's nice to be able to see what someone actually looks like. I know that someone could have shared my diary page if they wanted to, but having that little "recommend" button makes it appear that it's ok to do so. I'm on FB & I also check email every day. I am very careful to keep my 2 worlds separate. If you would like to share more of your life with me, I would be happy to share more of mine with you. Let me know by pm. I'm OK either way. I value my privacy too xoxo

Thank you both so much. You are so right Cate.Family is everything. There are just the two of us left now, except for a few distant relatives we barely know.
Off to the hospital (again) this morning for Marcus's treatment.
How do you send a PM girls?

Click on their profile picture and pick "start a conversation". Then I think when you get a reply it shows in the top bar. I spent all of last week with my family and it's the best thing ever. I'm very sorry you can't have that anymore :(

Good news at the hospital The head and neck scans showed no problem areas ans he is back on the old routine of monthly eye checkups. We had a phone call from an old navy pal of Marcus's and he and his wife have invited us to use their holiday cottage in the welsh hills from tomorrow. It is just what we need. How thoughtful of them. We are leaving after breakfast

Great news Polly! I think you will be asleep now, but I look forward to hearing about it when you get back. How nice xoxo

We had a lovely few days away. The area is called Llanberis and we had to go over the Lanberis Pass to get there. I hope this picture come over OK. It was well worth the nail biting, stomach churning drive over the pass. see below

Copy of my post on another thread
My husband had a coronary 1n 2009 and has had no further cardiac trouble. He is on a load of medicines, including statins. At his yearly check up at our doctor's surgery, they want him to try and get into the Mediterranean diet. Obviously keep on the medication, but in time and as he gets more and more into the diet, which after all will mean a lifestyle for both of us, the statins may be reduced and eventually discontinued for him.We have to wait and see.
I've sent off for a book for beginners and also a cook book, but any help or advice will be very welcome.
