I don't know where to start

hahaha! @ the wasp! I dont understand the head shaving thing in support of cancer...is she taking up donations and if she reaches a certain amount she shaves it?

Many people undergoing chemo lose their hair. She decided that being sponsored to have her head shaved would not only raise money but draw attention to some side effects. She raised over a thousand pounds today, and more coming in all the time. I was one of the ones going round with a bucket getting money in!

I'm happy to hear the exercise is making you feel better.

The wasp bit made me giggle. Senile would have been if you realized where the noise was coming from and then yelled at the man to turn off his wasp.

Far from senile I'd say Polly. Good on you supporting the check-out chick & good on her for doing it. A lot of that happens here too. I have always thought I wouldn't mind shaving my hair to raise money. My favourite niece had her's shaved off when she was a teenager & raised heaps. I am going to research exercises & stretches today. The more we move the better. It's good you are starting to feel the benefits. One of the women I played golf with yesterday showed me how to do a few stretches that I felt the benefit of even while we played. I did them while waiting for the group in front, who were a bit slow. If you come up with anything interesting or helpful, please le me know & I'll do the same for you xo Cate

Thanks both of you.

I think you are so right Cate, stretching works wonders doesn't it? I am no way ready for a gym, possible never will be but that's not to say I can't exercise sensibly. When I was in my teens I played a lot of tennis and I remember how important it was to warm up the muscles first.
Which reminds me: I never did go in for jumping the net if I won, but a girl who beat me in straight sets doughnut score too :blush5:, whooped with joy, jumped the net, caught her foot on the top and went flat on her face... It was a hard court and she had a nose bleed. No bones broken but she didn't do that again.

Ouch! I say she was lucky not to break her spine. All things in moderation! Which, incidentally, would make me very slim and fit, but even Pythagoras (I think it was him, highschool is a while ago...) mentioned that moderation is harder than abstinence. Especially true when talking about exercise if you ask me ;)

Look at LaMa, whippin out the Pythagoras references...I'm going to have to stay out of your Diary Polly if it gets all high brow in here ;)

I giggle snorted at the tennis net story...hahaha! I played tennis on my college team and jumping the net was strictly forbidden in tournament, probably for that exact reason, lol.

Pythagoras brings back horrible memories of school. We had a math teacher who had a beard. You would have though she could shave it off wouldn't you?
Very hot here at the moment, my husband loves the sun. The dog and I don't

Very funny Polly! I used to hate the heat, but I'm starting to turn into a lizard I think. I soak it up. Humidity, however I do not like!

:D ok, I'll stay away from all school references in strange diaries, don't want to chase anyone away!
I don't envy you Polly, so glad the weather here is more sane! That and this place is airconditioned...

I too can tolerate the heat better now I am older. I used to have so many fans in the bedroom, I looked like I was lying in state.

Maria You make as many school references as you like. Particularly the funny ones.

I have been unable to get internet access for a few days and it's a bit hit or miss still. Have no fear that I've fallen off the diet wagon. I'm still going strong, if a bit slow

Another 2lbs off Couldn't help it... saw the scales just sitting there gathering dust. However! Yesterday went downhill after that. One of our neighbours, a professional chef, gave us some some plum and apple crumble from a new recipe he was testing:drool5:. Now, I would like to say, that I just had a wee taste and said very nice and threw the rest away. In reality I had seconds, with ice cream. But the diet gods must have been watching because I was up half the night with acid reflux:flame: and mainlining Zantac.
The thought for today is: 'Be sure your sins will find you out'

Polly! 2lbs off & then you had seconds of a dessert.....with cream......what were you thinking?.........xoC

Moderation is probably key in that situation, lol...good luck with that I'm the same way. The see-food diet, see food, eat it. LOL!

Yes, I am feeling suitably penitent over my dietary slip.

I made another rookie mistake yesterday. I finished watching the BBC afternoon coverage of the World Athletic Championships and as there wasn't much prep needed for our evening meal ( fish& pasta) I decided to get a few minutes in on my exercise bike. It is a very basic one and quite light to move about. I took it into our bedroom so that I could watch a re-run of Murder She Wrote on the bedroom telly. I was so engrossed in the what passes for a plot in it, and my knees felt really good, that I kept on peddling for almost an hour. Today I am extremely stiff and walking like a giraffe.

Polly- you made me laugh! "walking like a giraffe". I tried picturing that. That sounds like a good sort of rookie mistake to me. Well done you. 1 hour! WOW!!

I'm still a bit stiff after my marathon bike session, but Epson salts in the bath is helping. I have a Cockney postman and he is a hoot and half. Yesterday, I was in the porch when I saw him coming up the path so went out to meet him. He stopped, took one look at me and said 'Bleeding 'ell Poll. Wot you done to yourself now? You're walking like you're strapped to a plank':rotflmao:
It's a long weekend Bank (public) Holiday this weekend. We aren't planning to do very much, it is always chaotic in town and on the roads at holiday times

So much of the Australian vernacular originates from Cockney. Love it. I used to suffer from the cultural cringe, but no longer. It's funny. I have been more like a half shut pocket knife! Go us! All of us. We're triers :D

I know I have a very long way to go, and should not feel complacent, but I'm starting to feel better than I have done for years. Clothes which didn't fit last year, now fit... not hanging on me, but comfortable.
Public holiday today. We haven't much planned, probably look around for a tablet computer for me. I want a cheap one, in case I have trouble connecting it up. They didn't have computers when I was in school. We didn't even have pocket calculators.

That´s just awesome Polly, really glad to hear it!
