News Flash!

OK then... As you know, we waited in all Tuesday and the (promised faithfully) new hub didn't arrive. We were told that another would arrive within 3 working days, but as it wouldn't be dispatched until Wednesday, not to expect it until Thursday at the earliest. So we went out on Wednesday morning and when we came home at 11.30am, there was the new hub in the porch.... Another arrived after lunch, and another one on Thursday. It was the same delivery driver, who told us to refuse delivery and then we wouldn't have the hassle of sending them back. Two more arrived at the same time on Friday and another by special delivery on Saturday. I'll let you know what happens tomorrow. By Friday the delivery driver just shouted through his window to my husband who was putting out the recycling bin... 'Refused delivery innit mate?' Apparently, this happens a lot. Anyway, we're back on line and I'll catch up with your diaries asap.

It never rains but it pours, doesn´t it? This is amazing, please tell us the final amount of deliveries when it all ends. Important question: does it all work now?

It never rains but it pours does it?
My husband, who is nearer 70 than 60 and has limited sight in his left eye, has had a retinal hemorrhage in his right. It is absorbing but was a close call. The trouble with us, is that when we look at each other, I see a 27yr old, black haired brown eyed rugby playing sailor and he sees a 25yr old tennis playing, green eyed red headed nurse who is still a size UK 12 dress :rotflmao::rotflmao: We ignore the fact we are getting old. It is a sobering thought when something like this draws attention to the fact. Last month he asked a young neighbour in his 40's if he could borrow his long ladder to reach our gutters which had grass growing in them. Our ladder was too short. 'You're not going us there at your age!' said the neighbour and did it for him... hubby was very thoughtful for the rest of the day December n6th is our 40th wedding anniversary. Fingers crossed we get there!:(

I was disappointed I couldn't watch the game this morning :( at 5am I was leaving the house to get to the markets.

Even my English hubby was happy Wales won :)

:D I don´t get sports´ craziness, but I´m glad you´re having fun with it. More glad your husband´s eye will be ok though!

Well done Wales! :D Glad your husband's eye is OK Polly. G & I will celebrate our 40th WA on the 30th of October :beating: I feel very lucky, but I also plan on being around for the 50th & hopefully the 60th! It's nice having you back, xoxo Cate

I don't know if this is common with getting to grips with your weight. Last evening I ruthlessly sorted out my winter wardrobe (consequently, the sun is blazing!) Anything I hadn't worn for 2 years gets either put on the charity shop pile, or the pile for the tip

Reducing clutter is much more than the sum of it's parts. It is very therapeutic xo

Please keep your fingers crossed for my husband today. He has to go for his first lot of treatment for this eye problem He has to have an injection into the eye once a month for 3 months. He has limited sight in the other eye, so is dependent on this one. This treatment should stop any more bleeds. I've been awake most of the night worrying... didn't rush to the biscuit tin though

Injections in the eye? Yikes. I know it´s routine for the people who perform them but anything poking into eyes will always feel creepy to me. Fingers tightly crossed.

Thanks Maria. They are doing it at 1.30pm so we have to kick our heels all morning.

My fingers & toes are crossed. Anything to do with eyes really freaks me out! [emoji15] All the best for your hubby Polly!! xo

Bless you all. This really is a lovely place to post. The treatment went OK. He's a bit sore, but no pain. We have the dates for the next two, the final one is on New Year's Eve. We always spend it quietly at home, so it won't be any different to any other new year.
Now listen to this... is this a good omen or is this a good omen. I had a squidge around the charity table in the main concourse of the hospital and found a brand new fat free cook book by an American called Lynn Fischer. It was published in 1997 and was a tie-in with her program on the Discovery Channel. The recipes are mouth watering and the tips really good. It had hardly been opened, has 225 recipes and beautiful photographs. It cost me £1
We only have Freeview on our TV ( my husband says, ' There's enough cr@p on our TV without paying for it' so I don't know the discovery channel.

I never use cook books, but I still love them so I´m saying it´s a good omen! Discovery used to be great, I watched only that and National Geographic Channel for years but these days it´s all just scripted "reality" and hyped up crazes. Glad the hubby is ok!

So glad it went well Polly! I agree with your hubby about paying for TV. There is NO way I would either. That is a good omen re the cookbook. I love cookbooks, but don't have to cook. Yes, I know I'm spoiled, but I know it :) Much love to you & your hubby xo Cate
